Property Ratings at The Drake at St. Pete
I wish I could give this place 0 stars because of how awful it truly is. Every other issue posted by people on here is 100% true. They have massive water issues with back ups into apartments and leaks, constantly being turned off. I experienced that in both my tub as well as constant flooding issues through my washer/dryer combo (which also destroyed $500+ worth of clothing). Place started flooding up through the floors as well with rain right before I cut my lease and moved. If you have a 1 bedroom - make sure your AC doesn't sound like a train and is located in your bedroom (?) of all places. Apartment itself had peeling paint, terrible smells, and poorly installed/fixed issues. The floor itself with move-in was installed with rocks under it that I had to dig out. Holes in the wall covered with chicken wire. Big issue with mold as I found in the AC and bathroom as well. I showed them pictures and contacted them on multiple occasions about it and was told in a very condescending manor that I was just 'upset.' They truly don't care. Communication was impossible with them, never answered emails. The only way I was able to get them to respond was a BBB complaint where they agreed to waive my outstanding balance from the termination fee. They then however decided to also send that over to a collection agency so now we get to go through that whole litigation drama. Heed the reviews from people, they aren't lying.
We have no problem with the women in the office, but maintenance is pathetic.

The women inside the office are truly incapable of critical thinking, simple procedures, and lack intelligence. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND this apartment complex by far the worst I have experienced, unfortunately. Dirty environment, bugs everywhere. Save yourself!

Poorly managed apartment complex. Rare if someone answers the office phone. Takes over a week for simple maintenance requests to be addressed. Garbage that we are suppose to leave out after 7:00 pm is all over the parking lots. We're always dragging cheap landscaping shells into our apartment. Dumster always full and stinks when getting mail from mailboxes at the dumpster. Exit gate always damanged. Maintenance low and rent is high and keeps going up. You have to pay for everything they say they offer Can't wait to leave!!!

Lived there for 4+ years. Mold in the unit, bathroom tile and tub peeling, promised by management to fix for 2 years, never happened. Gym with no AC working, no one cares. Drastically raised rent every year and when I eventually moved out, they withheld my security deposit and changed extra for leaving items in the apt which I didn’t.

I made good friends there over 3 years. There were plenty of friendly neighbors. The property is dog-friendly. Even most of the office staff I interacted with were friendly. Maintenance was prompt. I did not witness or even hear rumors of any crime. I left my door unlocked 90% of the time, and nothing was ever stolen or missing. Great location. Insects were well-controlled. The bad --- Rent kept going up. I think for my last lease, the 10 month rate was cheaper than the 12 month, which was weird, and I felt suspicious. My car was totaled in the parking lot by a rodent infestation. Repeated water shut-offs sometimes with little or no warning... The ugly --- I tried my best to avoid one manager in particular, but I couldn't, even at move-out. I just had a phone conversation with her, disputing the move-out charges mailed to me. I felt they were: fabricated, grossly inflated, redundant (duplicate and TRIPLICATE charges), otherwise covered by wear and tear, and needed receipts to verify cost. After talking on the phone, add to that: intentionally punitive, intentionally "unfriendly", admittedly made-up, and ignores the move-in checklist from 3 years ago. In short, this manager openly admitted multiple times that the move-out charges were made-up, serve as punishment, and applied to all tenants. I was literally flabbergasted on the phone and did not know what to say. She refused to remove a charge, even for an item identified on the move-in checklist.
Staff is really friendly and there is plenty of amenities to accommodate you. Laundry is convenient. Anything I have issues with I bring it to their attention and they resolve it immediately. Maintenance staff is incredible. My unit is spacious and had some renovations done. it’s a nice and private. Tucked away from main roads but close to access from both exits of the property.
They didn't even allow me to sit down from the door telling me that there were no Apartments available. Not knowing what Apartment I want. Apparently they're paid to scare the public. I don't recommend anyone to go to that place. Now I saw the reviews and I understand why they have such a low rating. With that bad attitude, nobody would want to live there
Apartment complex will not accept rent checks on Saturday despite the office being open. The complex also does not have a rent check drop box, which makes payment difficult unnecessarily.
I've been living here for over a year. it is not worth the price they charge. they are constantly doing "renovations" but the place doesn't look well. they just repaint the apartments and put cheep carpet in. there are houses for rent at the price I'm paying for more sq ft. the dog rent is ridiculous. the small dog park is full of feces. I've never had a problem with fleas until moving here.
think twice and way do your research. Kids who threaten to beat up other peoples kids. Upgrades that never happen. Safety, telling you one thing before moving in only to find out they were being dishonest. the niceness wears off after you move in. All they want is your rent. Can't wait till my lease is up in Dec. Please second think your decision to live here.
The Brandywine Apartments complex is a great place to live! The apartment units are spacious and fairly priced. The price of water can be included depending on the unit. Residents are able to choose carpet or wood tiled flooring plans. I have lived in three units in my four years here. Each unit had at minimum one extra closet,in the hallway for extra space. There is plenty of kitchen space which is hard to find in many apartments. The area is fairly quiet and there are two community pools and a gym for residents. The community itself is very diverse and friendly. The parking for residents is marked and there are guest spots available. If a non-resident is parked in a resident’s spot they can be towed. The apartment office holds many events such as resident appreciation week, summer festivals, and back to school events. There are laundry rooms in the units that require a resident issued laundry card. You have to upload money onto the card in the office. The location of the complex allows for easy access to; restaurants, banks, grocery stores, and parks. The mall is within walking distance. The office staff is friendly, and usually answers right away. I have had very few problems in the four years I’ve lived here. If, there is problem maintenance will usually come that day. There is emergency maintenance available on the weekends. There is a trash service that comes Sunday through Thursday, and collects the trash you leave outside. There is a big dumpster for you to use but, that including the mail box is located on one side of the complex. If you do not live on that side it may be a hassle to go there. This is a very pet friendly community. Many of the residents have dogs. The complex just built a dog park in the complex for its residents last year.
Great location, apartments are very spacious, fitness center, 3 pools, car detail area, laundry facilities, on site maintenance, daily trash pick-up, grill and picnic areas, close to a variety of shopping plazas, malls, food, and entertainment. Close to bus lines,
I would give anything to move my son to a better neighborhood, and one where he would have his own room. Maintenance issues are handled half way, management makes promises they don't keep and they are always making excuses. I just want a nice place where my son can feel safe going outside to play, and where I can have my own washer and dryer inside my apartment. The kids in our neighborhood threaten to beat my now 9 year old son up ever chance they get, one day they are friends, the next day they are mean. When I first moved here, one of the perks they used was that all the apartments were being remodeled. Soon after I moved in, the remodling stopped and never got to me. I was promised a 2 bedroom with the upgrades I was told I would be getting when I first moved in, but have never got them.
Being newly engaged, we needed a cozy yet affordable apartment to move into. We came across the BrandyWine Apartments and immediately scheduled a tour! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. (We've had NO issues!) The Apartments are clean, spacious, and the neighbors friendly. Since the location is 15-20mins everywhere you'd usually go (gas stations, shopping centers, downtown, and beaches) we save money on gas as well. If you're wanting to save money while living comfortably, then come to BrandyWine!
I moved here in 2009. The previous company who owned this complex was just not great.....and then the next company a year later, well they weren't that great.......but NOW, the management team is top rate. The complex is older but delightfully nestled by a bike train, a mall, and two strip malls. You can get to any point of Saint Petersburg quickly via the bus. There is a college within walking distance and soon there will be a 24 screen theater. What is not to like? I'm staying.
These apartments are great if you're only looking for short term. I was in a bind at the time and needed something close to work but also clean. Price was great and the somewhat remodeled apartment was great. Although, I plan to move as soon as my year lease is up. The community is not as safe as I would have hoped. Although there are many families living here, it's on the low-income end. You can hear domestic disputes sometimes. There was a family living next door to me, got in a huge fight with some other people, and their door was kicked in and the glass window was broken. Yes, I was hiding under the bed at this point for fear a gunshot would ring out. Glad they moved out a couple months later. It's loud at random times, kinda scary at night, and I wouldn't be surprised if some shady dealings were going on. I'm a single woman and I don't dare take a stroll at night in this neighborhood, even to get the mail. I'm glad my car is just outside my door. The gym is a joke. You have to pay extra to use it outside the hours of 9-5. 2 swimming pools, but I've never used them. The smaller one is always busy and loud. But their maintenance staff and office staff are always on top of things. The couple of work orders I've put in, they were done within a day.
Very quiet complex with very helpful office managment. Ask about discounts if you are a teacher. The also offer them for other jobs like police and fire fighters. Maitainace will also come at anytime for emergencies.
