Located along the Flint River about an hour northwest of Downtown Detroit, Flint is the largest city in Genesee County. As a college town, it is home to the University of Michigan-Flint, Kettering University, and Mott Community College. Property Ratings at The Durant
5 out of 5 doesn't give full justice to the amazing management or maintenance staff at The Durant. This is a wonderful place to live in all ways. We loved our time in this building and were always given immediate attention to the smallest request. Derrick and RJ couldn't have been better people to look after the building and our needs. The apartments are lovely and well provided with appliances and space. We loved our corner apartment and would still be there if it hadn't been for a career change which took us away from Flint. Our biggest regret wasn't leaving Flint, but indeed leaving The Durant! It was always a pleasure to come into the building as it was maintained spotlessly, the neighbors were friendly, and we never heard any noise from another unit. That meant we had a peaceful and safe environment to call home. Being located downtown was a great advantage as we were so close to events and leisure spots that were within easy walking distance. The location also provided me with a convenient route to my work, parks, and freeway access. If you get the chance to ever live in Flint, don't pass The Durant by as your first choice for living in a wonderful environment. You will love it also!
Wanted a place to live that was centrally located and convenient to all aspects of life when I returned to Flint. The Durant offers that and more. The elegance of the Durant at an affordable price, with a supportive, responsive and friendly staff makes it the top pick. Once I took the tour of the place, I was hooked. Hands down the best place to live in the entire area!
I have lived here for a year and decided to renew my lease. The apartment is modern, I love my kitchen! It is within walking distance from the Farmers Market, Michigan State University Building, University of Michigan-Flint. There are great downtown cafes, and restaurants. The local grocer just opened right across the street. Its very quiet, which you will love if you are a student who loves to study at home, or a person who needs to get any type of work done at home. I always appreciate how maintenance service is done in a timely manner. In addition, I appreciate the covered parking during the winter.
Very nice place to live. Secure building and parking. Within short walking distance of university and downtown businesses. Relatively quiet.
Although built in 1920 as a hotel, today the Durant has a very modern feel. Even though the lobby appears to have been lifted right out of the '20's, it feels brand new. The apartments are very modern, with plenty of amenities. If you like downtown living this is your best choice, and very affordable. However, if you like being around a lot of people and seeing co-tenants often, you'll be disappointed. I rarely see other residents, and it's very quiet, which gives the Durant something of a private residence feel.
I have been living at the Durant for over a year and I really have enjoyed living there so far for the convenience of being downtown and the newly renovated apartments. I have only had one issue with security when I first moved in but nothing since then. The Durant also recently switched property managers and I am so much happier with the service and living at the Durant.
The Durant is your best bet for living in Downtown Flint. It's conveniently located near Hurley hospital and not far from McLaren either- perfect location if you are a health professional. I also enjoy being walking distance from the Flint Farmers Market. The apartment itself is updated and modern. There is plenty of storage space, including cabinets, closets and a great walk-in closet in the master bedroom. Veronica, the building manager is very helpful and easy to contact.
The Durant, a recently renovated historic property in downtown, has been my home in Flint for the past year and a half. Its location is convenient to both the University of Michigan and Michigan State University campuses as well as to Hurley Medical Center. The renovation of The Durant in 2010 has resulted in a complex that has controlled access to both living space as well as the covered parking structure, modern touches such as stainless appliances, in-unit washer-dryer, granite countertops, and tile flooring in kitchen and bath. Despite the modern upgrade the complex retains the charm of a 1920's style luxury hotel with high ceilings, crafted moldings great views and an awesome lobby entrance. The community of tenants at The Durant is a diverse one and consists of students, retirees, young couples and professionals. Given the proximity of the complex to two educational institutions and the number of student tenants, I initially was concerned about the potential for noise and generally disruptive behavior. This concern was quickly allayed upon meeting many of my neighbors who I found to be friendly and respectful of their fellow tenants and their schedules, never loud or disruptive and quite simply good neighbors. An additional attribute of The Durant is that the entire complex is non-smoking, an unusual policy at most apartment complexes but an important one. In sum, The Durant is a well-placed, recently renovated historic downtown building with the modern amenities expected in a luxury apartment. Its management is responsive to tenant needs and its tenants, though diverse in age, occupation and tenancy are some of the nicest neighbors that one could have.
I just renewed my lease and I love living at the durant! The apartments are in perfect walking distance of downtown as well as UM-Flint. The building is secure and is always clean. Management is friendly and always willing to help. I reccomend anyone to live here!
I moved to flint for graduate school after the water crisis and was very pleased to know the Durant water supply didn't have lead. I was even more impressed when I moved into my unit and there was an additional water filter on the sink already installed for me. Maintenance is always quick and painless. The appliances, central location, security, quiet atmosphere, covered parking, and quick maintenance make this place worth the price!
Great place to live. Right across the street from soggy bottom (best bar in flint) and a short walk away from the farmers market and the rest of downtown. Secure location, covered parking and quiet neighbors made this a perfect place to live.
The Durant is a quality apartment, close to everything one would need. I love my apartment and the staff is always helpful with solving any issues that come to light. The ceilings are very high and there is little noise that would normally be associated with apartment living. The appliances are all modern and clean. The parking is secure and maintained nicely. The building is maintained and cleaned by a professional cleaning company and maintenance personnel are on site daily. The location is amazing and my apartment has a wonderful view of downtown Flint and the Flint River. The Flint Farmers Market is just a short walk away, as well the many great restaurants and stores. I love that I am able to access any major highway with the central location of The Durant. The University of Michigan-Flint is directly across the street which makes the walk to class quite easy. Even with the close proximity to the school, The Durant maintains a non-party atmosphere with several families living in the building. In regards to the water, I have had no issues with lead, and have not been affected by the Flint Water Crisis. I feel secure raising my family in this environment and would in no way place my child into a situation I feel would present danger. The staff provide water filters for those that need them. Overall, I enjoy and recommend The Durant as a living environment.
I absolutely love living at The Durant. I have been here since 2012. The building is beautiful and very secure. I planned on moving out of Flint when the water crisis happened but luckily, The Durant was not affected. They have conducted two different tests and both have come back negative for any lead. The staff is great and always willing to help.
