Known for housing one of the iconic Spanish missions in California, the family-oriented community of San Luis Rey lies 40 miles north of San Diego. Closely associated with nearby Camp Pendleton, the major base of the United States Marine Corps on the West Coast, this neighborhood's military housing forms a large component of the community. The presence of many military families contributes largely to its family-friendly atmosphere. Residents enjoy a sunny and mild climate, ample shopping opportunities, and close proximity to southern California beaches.

Property Ratings at The Dylan
Don’t move here. Management is terrible, you will 100% get roaches, crack heads always knock on your door/steal your belongings/peep through your windows.
The water is constantly shut off and the communication with the property management company is laughable. They don’t give you deadlines in normal communication and then hit you with late fees and prorated rates days after you miss the deadline they never told you about. Constantly not communicating on things like processing wait times and only taking cashiers checks. The area isn’t super safe and someone was murdered in the complex last year. We had roaches for a whole summer and had to have people come in to spray multiple times. All in all a bad two years, wish we’d have moved after one. So unless you want to deal with no water and having to have a full copy of your lease readily available 24/7 so you don’t get caught in some “miscommunication”, save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.
Dont listen to the reveiws who say "no noise" we asked during our tour if the children play right by the windows and we were told no. But they're there every day. The neighbors party in the pool almost daily so dont expect to be in there ever and as I type this now at midnight there are people in the hot tub and the walls are so thin (& no ac so my windows have to be open or it gets stuffy and humid to the point of mold) I can hear every word. Water shut offs all the time. No pest control. And "security" is not there. Wish I was given the number because no one obeys the rules.
Don't expect to have hot water or any water for that matter at least once a month. They are constantly shutting it off for whatever reason. Our unit was infested with cockroaches last summer and we had to have a guy come three separate times doing the exact same thing for no results and nothing but a shrug of "oh well" from management. They had a change in management on January 31st of this year. That's right, a DAY before rent is due, and my roommates and I had already paid ahead of time on the app that the new management didn't use, so an entire portion of our rent that month was completely lost. It's almost July and it is still not found. Another shrug of "oh well" from management. A woman was killed by her neighbor last year here and we didn't hear a blip about it from management. If we didn't hear about it from neighbors who saw the sirens, we never would have known. Not a safe area at all. All in all, we can't wait to get out of here in September.
This is my third apartment complex where I have lived but this is the best so far, nice apartment, really friendly community, the office staff is so nice, the maintenance team is always willing to fix any issues. NO better place to live

The timbers is overall a great apartment complex. If something is wrong with the apartment the issue is resolved quickly, but some of the tenants are inconsiderate of the time and their volume.

My daughters and I just moved in about a month ago. We love the big outdoor yard that we have and the management staff. We plan to be here a while.
