Property Ratings at The Dylan
This place gets worse with time, as issues keep piling up. What issues are there? -Doesn’t give assigned parking space as promised 6 months after move in, while being charged a monthly parking fee. -Constant strong smells in elevator of perfume, odors and other smells -Hot water goes out all the time -Recycling chute has been locked the whole tenancy, no idea if it will ever be fixed -Elevator key barely works. You have to jiggle the key and press the button like 10 times for it to work. Elevator has gone down for repairs numerous times and is probably not in service as we speak -Was harassed and threatened in the lobby by a mentally ill person before who likely didn’t even live at the property. No security was at the front desk. This was before the shooting happened. Now that someone has died from the building they have increased security. -Almost stepped in human poop by the P1 elevators. Was not cleaned up even after a week. There was also a used condom down there once before. Terrible first impression if you’re bringing guests over to your apartment. -There was a shooting while we lived here, and two months later when we put in our notice, apartment management added an additional move out charge which we tried to dispute stating our notice was a week late. However, we weren’t able to move in on the 1st, we moved in on the 7th because they had to make repairs before we could move in. We disputed and they sent us to collections. Tried to give this place a chance, and after many many months, was sorry that I did. It is definitely overpriced compared with what you’re getting. Terrible management too.

There is always something wrong in this building, whether it's the elevators being down, the parking garage gate not working or any other maintenance issues for specific apartments, and the management team seems to have no regard for them or sense of urgency. Also, it's useless to submit a maintenance request or follow up using their system, because the maintenance team will ignore.
BED BUGS! The Dylan apartment building has bed bugs. A couple months ago I started getting bites at night and had no idea why. As someone that didn't even know what a bed bug was prior to this it was shocking to find out how carelessly the management team proceeded to "help" me. They lied and told me that the building had never had them before, despite hearing a different story from the maintenance staff. My apartment was uninhabitable for 3 months and after several failed treatments the management team said they would no longer help me. The only way out of this nightmare was to break my lease and take everything I owned to a pest control fumigation center. Be warned, leasing staff will lie to you about the issues they are having. Don't waste your time and money with the Dylan.
Whatever you do, DO NOT LIVE HERE! YOU WILL GET BED BUGS AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. Signing a lease at The Dylan was the worst decision I have ever made. Period. I moved into The Dylan with all brand new, never before lived in furniture. Within a few months I began receiving bites on my body during the night. I INSTANTLY reported this to the management team. They sent their pest control company (they would not allow me to schedule my own), which told me there were no pests in my apartment. The bites continued to get worse and I told them I believed it to be bed bugs and for them to please send out pest control again. It took a full week before they sent pest control again. This time they told me to "go see a doctor". Absurd. The bites continued to worsen. They sent pest control a few more times always failing to identify anything. Eventually, I stayed up all night and found bed bugs in my brand new headboard. I again immediately told management. This time I had to stay home and point out the bugs directly to the pest control company. Seriously? To nobodies surprise, all treatments by management FAILED. They kept telling me there were no bugs, I kept receiving bites. They eventually refused to treat my apartment. Let me just say I lived here FOR MONTHS IN MISERY. There are not enough words to explain how miserable it is to try to live in a place infested with bed bugs. Ultimately, I broke my lease and moved out. I had to throw away all of my furniture. DO NOT. DO NOT. LIVE HERE. You will get bed bugs, management will not help you.
The Dylan apartment building opened in 2014 and I've been a resident from day 1. The resort-style amenities and generous layouts make it a great place to live. Excellent social setting if you are in your mid-twenties / early thirties. It's on the eastern edge of West Hollywood (bordered by La Brea) so a bit of an up and coming area, but a lot of nearby development going up so will only get better over time. If I win this contest I will be definitely be renewing my lease :)
