Property Ratings at The Edge at Oakland Apartments - Auburn Hills
I have applied for the lease and the verification has taken more than 3 weeks my start date on the lease is 20days from now! The management is not helpful at all. they work from home most of the time and don't work at all.
In my 2 years of living here, it has been nothing but a roller coaster of emotions. Head Management changed, 3 property manager changes, and countless receptionists came and went, and one maintenance guy that everyone felt sorry for because of how overworked he is. They sent me to court because I never paid rent for months when I did along with adding countless little fees onto the apartment and never got notified. Also good luck trying to get ahold of the office, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve called and never picked up the phone during office hours. With the apartment aspect, The walls are paper thin, I used to hear people having conversations through the walls, the stove never properly worked, the ventilation in the apartment sucked majorly bad, they painted over some girls hair on the walls in the bathroom and bedroom, never changed the carpet in the apartment until I left, flies were around the apartment every summer, the stairs were not safe at all and shook every time you walked up them. I could complain about them more but it’s not worth my time. I’m glad I moved out when I did, it’s got a lot worse since I moved out from what I’ve heard. I would never recommend this apartment to anyone
Living at the Edge was incredibly stressful to say the least. I was regularly financially taken advantage of, which I can only hope was due to negligence rather than ill will. While I lived here I brought in a copy of my renter’s insurance at least once a month because it was never properly filed, and I was repeatedly incorrectly charged, even in the return of my deposit. Their new motto, “Live on the Edge,” really hits home. If you move in there, whether it’s needed repairs, incorrect charges or missing paperwork, you truly will be living on the edge in the worst way possible.
Do you like animal infestations? I know I don’t, but apparently this place is either too cheap or incompetent to fix them. I am currently in the middle of my 6th attempt to have the manager fix a flock of birds living in my wall next to my bed. They sent the guy up to look at it once then ignored me after they said it was take care of. When I told them in November it was like “ ah we’ll figure it out” but then it just eventually became my inconvenience. Do not live here, HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT.
I rent a 1B1B apartment in the community for 6 months during my internship. It is a quiet and friendly community. The room is very spacious, clean, and bright. People here were always helpful and kind-hearted. Breana gave me strong support during my application, Dave was always helpful for the maintenance, and Manager Amy was considerate when I had some requests. Overall, this community was out of my expectation when I moved in. Definitely recommend it to others who are looking for a nice place to stay in Auburn Hills.
Management is terrible. They don’t return calls or emails. Rent payment is done through their online portal. Issues with that. Apartment was not clean when I moved in and despite asking, they never came. Walls and floors are not soundproof and you can hear everyone else. A lot of disrespectful neighbors who are too lazy to throw trash in bin and just pile it up outside. Appliances are old and the windows leak cold air. I don’t recommend this place. Stay away
The apartments are not clean. They smell like cat urine. Your security deposit will not be returned. Very shady electric bill system in place
Make sure you let them know in writing beforehand that you will not be paying for the smelly carpets to be cleaned that were like that before you move in. The Edge has a bad habit of consistently scamming you of money sneakily through false charges.
I truely enjoyed living here until the management changed. The rent went up over $400 a month. Also we had to start paying a water bill of over $50 a month most months. The location was great and walkable to restaurants. Once the rent was raised me and almost all of my neighbors moved out. All in all a good place to live but way over priced now.
I love it here. I moved in a year ago and will be renewing this year. Their management and maintenance is quick to respond. I've made multiple repair calls and every time they fix the issue with in 24 hours. The apartments are well priced and convinient, with beautiful walk in closets, wash and dryer in unit, plus lots of square footage. I'm not sure what was going on three years ago to cause people to rate low, but for the past year at least they have been incredibe. I would recommend this location to everyone.
I lived here for my last 2 years at Oakland University and this was the perfect home for me. It was in the city so there was plenty around, but the actual apt community was quiet which was nice when I needed to study. Ken, the landlord, is the best! Everyone in the office and the maintenance crew is so nice and attentive to your needs. I move out in a week to be closer to my new job, but I'm sad to leave. I will miss this place, and I would recommend it to anybody looking for a home in the auburn hills area.
Nice, good location, generous space for the price. Property was recent renovated, have Babar carpet if you like, good over view
It is a nice, pleasant community and I have staying here for a year now. My building is located a bit uphill and my apartment being south facing, gets ample sunlight throughout the day and all the year. I have never had any complaint for any maintenance work, whenever needed (rare though). They are quick enough. Management staffs, Ken and Gail are really nice and friendly people and they respond to your mails really fast. The only drawback (actually not a drawback) is that this community does not own a tennis / basketball court. But overall, it is a really good place to stay.
I've lived here for almost 4 years and I love it. The location is fantastic - it's 2 minutes off the expressway, walking distance to Oakland University and everything is within a 10 minute drive. All members on staff are extremely nice and any work orders put in for maintenance are taken care of within 2 days. My apartment is ground level and because the complex has original windows from 25 years ago, the insulation isn't the best. The only other negative is that the kitchen is a "one butt" kitchen – all kitchens are the same size regardless of apartment size. From all the apartments I've seen, this is the best. I would suggest Knollwood Place Apartments to anyone, any day of the week.
Gas and electric bills are high because the insulation is awful, snow removal in the winter is very bad and it is never removed from side walks, not enough parking spaces, garbage and beer bottles almost everywhere on the ground, honestly it is expensive for what you get
I live here. My apartment rocks. Nice people in the area. Very quiet. Love the complex
Unless you are a college student who party at night and don't mind the noise, don't move here.Neighbors are loud even if they are not college student, and the management will not do anything about it. I lived there in 2012.
