Property Ratings at The Edison at Union Market
I worked with Manuel on locking down my apartment in December 2020. The process was quick and efficient with a good line of communication. I love the location with just a 15 minute walk to the Capitol and right next to the redline Metro. There are also fire pits and grills available for use.

I'll start first with the tour, due to covid we couldn't go in an see the unit, fine, but when we asked for pictures of the unit, all we got was a generic video and were told its exactly the same but with a ground floor patio that opens to the courtyard (which was a deal-breaker). But fine, they had a decent price and it had walk out outdoor space which was crucial However, upon moving in we find that the patio is smaller than we were told, and does not walk out to the courtyard. We also weren't told that the unit was designed as a handicapped accessible unit, ok fine, but when you're 6'+ bending over to extra short countertops, sink, etc, that's not great. This came with a smaller than standard fridge and an adjusted shower, none of which was disclosed. Additionally, it reeks of weed all day everyday, ok fine, but not only that but the neighbors are disruptively loud day in and day out, to the point where it wakes people up at night and interrupts their work during the day. Eventually, after weeks/months, the noise got so bad we went to the leasing office with videos of the noise several times and they claimed the knocked on the door and sent them a letter--to no avail. We again went to the office seeking reprieve and and asked if anything could be done to ameliorate the issue. The office acknowledged that we were not the only other unit to complain and that they had guessed there might have even been a domestic issue. However, they noted, since the courts were closed, they could not evict them. Ok fine, that's one thing, but when we inquired as to whether there was anything they could do for us in the meantime they said no. We offered to negotiate a break of the lease other than those in the lease (several months pay with two months notice) and they rejected it, we then appealed it to a supervisor and then again up to the management company level who flat rejected any compromise despite their acknowledgement of serious issues with the other unit. They offered us another unit,it did not have outdoor space as we told them we needed, and they were going to charge us increased rent. Since both of us were going to be out of the office for the foreseeable future we broke the lease and sent that money down the drain. Also their rooms are smaller than they appear, the "cool" rooms with a glass sliding doors are just gimmicks to help them lease units that are too small to be proper 2BRs, the appliances are cheap and don't work, and they never answer the phones

We are sorry to hear about your recent experience at The Edison and understand your frustration. Our team is here to make sure everyone has a comfortable and excellent living experience and we are sorry we did not provide that for you. As we discussed, we have to uphold the lease policies as we offered an alternative option. If you have any concerns you still would like to discuss please contact me at jmaguire@lcor.com and I will be more than happy to resolve any outstanding items. Again, we apologize and we look forward to hearing from you.
I’ve lived at this building since it opened. My car has been broken into twice and there are no cameras in the garages. The response from mgmt at the call for increased security has been cavalier at best. Save your money and invest it in a property with good customer service, sufficient security, and a rooftop and pool. I’ve already committed to getting just that in the hundreds of other properties in DC. The Edison isn’t worth it.

Hi Alysia – we appreciate your comments regarding our community here at The Edison. Our team is always working hard to ensure The Edison is a great place to live. Regardless of where your car was parked, the safety of your personal property is up to the owner, as leaving your car unlocked will result in higher risk of a break in. Have been staying here for five months and last month my auto pay didn’t go through. I was greeted with a court order without a reminder email or notice for my overdue month whatsoever. They sure know how to treat their residents terribly!
