In Foggy Bottom, the National Mall is your backyard and the White House is right down the street. This historic neighborhood on the southwest edge of DC sits amid the most famous and beloved landmarks of the nation’s capital, giving residents one of the most scenic urban environments in the United States.
With homes and apartments intertwined amid the federal office buildings and the George Washington University campus, both government workers and college students are able to get around easily on foot or by bicycle. It’s also an excellent location for medical personnel working at George Washington University Hospital, as well as university faculty and staff. DC’s famous dining and nightlife are close at hand, and Metro service makes it easy to reach anything that’s a little too far outside of walking distance.

Property Ratings at The Elise
The Elise Apartment is nice one, which is very close to GW and the Metro station Foggy Bottom, and the White House! You can also reach the Potomac River in five minutes. For home and Kitchen, it is near Whole Foods Market and Trade Joes, making your life very convenient! Yanlin
Although The Elise is not a new building, it is maintained very well for its age. Many units have renovated kitchens which make them even more livable. I looked at a lot of studios and found that not only did The Elise have among the largest studios (mine was 540 SF) but the layouts make them feel quite large. Additionally, they get tons of natural sunlight thanks to the huge windows. Location is amazing if you're in DC for just a short period of time-- super accessible to Georgetown, National Mall, and 2 minute walk to Whole Foods, Sweetgreen. Amanda, the Resident Manager, is EXCEPTIONAL. She goes above and beyond to help residents however possible and really cares for residents. Amanda was a huge reason for me choosing The Elise vs other apartments.
I have lived in The Elise for years, and highly recommend it! Great location (convenient to metro, shopping, schools, amenities, etc.), spacious floor plans, beautiful views, etc. Plus, our resident manager and staff are absolutely incredible — they take excellent care of the building and their residents! I cannot say enough great things about living here. The Elise is a wonderful home!
Inconsiderate management, neighbors steal from you, will do anything to take the max money from you and charge all extra fees
I just lived here for the pandemic school year and can't say enough good things about it. The location is great - Foggy Bottom, blocks away from GWU campus; the building manager and staff are very nice and extremely helpful - Amanda, thank you!; and the building is well maintained and very clean. Highly recommend living here!
Beginning with the location, the Elise is perfectly situated between Georgetown, the GW campus, and the Waterfront. It is around the block from a Whole Foods and the Metro Station, which has been extremely convenient. The building is clean, spacious, and houses very kind and friendly residents. The most amazing part about living in the Elise is the management. Amanda is caring, thoughtful, and patient. She goes above and beyond to take care of her residents and it has made living in the Elise easy, comfortable, and most of all enjoyable. Highly recommend!
So far, I’ve had the most pleasant experience with housing here! The move in process has been incredibly smooth and accommodating, with the resident manager, Amanda, being the most patient and thoughtful person I have ever dealt with! She goes beyond to thoroughly answer every question you have and is highly courteous. I appreciate this apartment because of how genuine and helpful she has been. Highly recommend it here!
The Elise has very reasonably priced apartments (with utilities included and other amenities) in a great area, quite literally one block from the Foggy Bottom metro station. The studios and 1 bedrooms are very large for the area and you can't really go wrong with living here. I live in a 1 bedroom here and it is bigger than most 2 bedroom apartments I've seen around the area. In terms of the management, the property manager, Amanda is incredibly easy to deal with and considerate. Any time I had questions or concerns regarding the apartment, she approached them with empathy and handled them in a very professional manner to provide me with the best solution. I see a review referring to the building being "poorly managed" and also having "bad service." From what I know this is referring to the prior property manager who no longer works here. There has been a vast improvement as a result of that. I have not had any problems with the elevator service since I've lived here so it seems like that must have been fixed. I usually do not write reviews but I have had a great experience living here and I would highly recommend the Elise!
I have lived here for one year. I live in a studio which is much larger than the average studios in the area, and there is plenty of natural light in the unit. I have been very impressed with the building property manager, Yaza. She is very professional and responsive to all of my needs, including going out of her way to address any concerns or issues I have had. The maintenance personnel is also very nice. The location is outstanding, studios are very spacious, and price is the lowest in the area. My only recommendation is to the building owners - they are missing out on a great opportunity to upgrade the building. They need to consider adding more services and improve the common area appearance. They also need to have quicker response to building wide issues - such as AC failure. However, if you are looking for the lowest price, best location, and large size unit - I would recommend The Elise. I would give the onsite property manager and maintenance crew a 5 STAR. However, due to the building issues referenced above, I have to provide an overall lower rating.
One of the two elevators almost malfunctions every week - and sometimes just goes out of service months Building manager is impatient, rude and unbelievably professional. The only advantage about this building is the location.
