Franconia is a neighborhood in southwest Alexandria just a few miles from Washington, DC. Franconia’s proximity to the Interstate 495 and 85 junction puts this city in an ideal location. The Franconia-Springfield Station, served by the WMATA (also known as the Metro), allows for easy commutes as well. Apartments, houses, condos, and townhouses make up the diverse rental market of Franconia and are priced similarly to rentals in the DC metro area.
The eastern border of Franconia partially encompasses the sprawling Huntley Meadows Park while other scenic parks dot the inside of the neighborhood. EXCELLENT PLACE TO LIVE
i have been at this location for quite some time, place is excellent clean and very user friendly facilities. Staff goes above and beyond when time of need. i will highly recommend if people are looking for quality of a place.

I am in a 1 bedroom with a loft. At move in the shower did not work properly. It was Saturday so I waited until a weekday to have it repaired. I think they should have checked everything before I moved in. The virtual tour shows a ceiling fan in the loft. There is not one, so the loft is very hot. The complex is old, so there are odd things. For instance, the shower knob is wrong. Cold is the hot water, hot is the cold water. There is packing tape holding things together under the dishwasher. There is also packing tape holding things together on the front door. The verticle blinds for the sliding glass door have pieces missing and don't work very well. The pool broke as soon as I moved in and was closed for the rest of summer. The dumpster is in the middle of the complex, so sometimes the parking lot smells. As soon as I enter the complex my phone drops from 5G to 4G. So I don't have great phone service.

Living at Elms 2019-2021
I lived at Elms for about two years. I transferred from one unit to another within the two years. I’ll start off with describing what the pros & cons, as any apartment complex will have. The pros include how wonderful the community is with the amount of trails, schools, restaurants, parks & stores there are. The apartments felt very home like, which we loved. Very spacious! Now, we move to the cons. Before you settle in the apartment, make sure to take photos of everything you see that’s either stained, not working & damaged. From the wall to floor to other items in the apartment we noticed were all cheap material. Paint chips off easily and the carpet is already old to start off. We had a good transition transferring to another unit but when it came for us to leave the complex, it got a little complicated. Our second unit had damages prior to us moving in that we wrote on a checklist to the leasing office (we even took photos). Come time to leave, management charges additional fees to items that were already damaged. The last con to it all would be the communication from management. It wasn’t the best but it wasn’t horrible. Overall I would just recommend to new renters to be observant (document everything!) of the apartment you get as they will try to get $$ for the already damaged items in your unit.

LOVE this community!
I’ve lived in this community for a little over a year and it’s the first place that really felt like home. The maintenance team is respectful, helpful and responsive. The leasing office staff is also extremely responsive and helpful. The apartment itself is really spacious and very well kept. I’ve got great neighbors as well. Such a quiet and very well kept community. Also, their response to covid was really great. From keeping the rent from increasing at my lease renewal to ensuring the maintenance staff wears masks, they just really got it right! Love this place so much!

Hidden gem in Northern VA
I have been living here in a one bedroom apartment for over a year. After touring many complexes in this area and renting in northern Virginia for some time, The Elms is a hidden gem. The property itself is beautiful and tucked away off a main road. The apartments back up to a small, dense forest and I have found hidden walking trails nearby. The amenities on site are always clean and I personally like the gym and racquetball court for exercise. The staff and leasing office administrators are very helpful and accommodating. There really is a sense of community here which I did not expect when I first moved in nor was I really looking for but it happened to be a nice perk. I actually know a few of my neighbors for once. The office is very good about organizing community events for all ages and sending out monthly newsletters. I have also noticed that the community is very dog and pet friendly. I appreciate how communicative the office has been, especially this past year with the pandemic.

Perfect Place To Call Home
I have been a resident for a little over three months now and I couldn't be happier with my choice of home. The grounds are immaculately kept; my apartment is spacious, updated, and equipped with all modern appliances. Residents are respectful and considerate towards each other, with community based activities scheduled weekly creating a sense of caring that has no rival. Never a need to call for maintenance...they do such an excellent job with inspections and upkeep. Fabulous place to live, with a wonderful management team. Definitely recommend living here!
I moved to this community back in January with my boyfriend and we love our apartment. We picked this area because the location is very convenient for both of our jobs, even though we are working from home now. Which the maintenance team is very accommodating to our work schedule if we have a service request. Even with the pandemic, we appreciate the office's efforts to find creative ways to host events. We've also been enjoying getting to know our neighbors in the community!

Best location & service in the area
I’m so happy I moved here! I am close to so much shopping, entertainment, the metro, every day needs really. The apartment is so spacious and has everything and more I could have wanted. Parking is never an issue and they have a lot of amenities like the Amazon HUB which makes shopping online so easy. The team is really friendly and easy to work with, and very quick to respond to any request I have. I can’t think of anyway this community could be better!

Do not move here
I have lived here 4 years because it is close to my job. I am moving this year. The office people are rude, they come into your apartments without notice. They took a month to come out to fix the leak in the ceiling. The electrician is an idiot they put the light switch in upside down. The heater had to be replaced the first month I changed units.

Fantastic place to live in: friendly staff, quiet neighborhood, and everything is within driving distance!
I am a big fan of apartment shopping for bigger better deals but The Elms just knows how to treat their tenants as appreciated members of the community. Vijil is the superstar of the leasing office and has always been very responsive to any questions, issues, or concerns I had about anything. The maintenance staff here is great and they promptly follow-up on any requests. We recently had heavy snowfall and they cleared the sidewalks and parking areas immediately. Anyways, it's been a fantastic year. Vijil offered me a clean apartment and it has been that way for over a year now. I like the way The Elms are very diligent on keeping everything clean and making sure the heating/cooling systems are ready for the seasons to come. I like the quiet neighborhood and the proximity of places nearby (Franconia Blue Line Station, Springfield Mall, Walmart, Shoppers, etc.). You really don't have to go far to get what you need. Anyways, 5 Stars! Clean place, quiet neighborhood, friendly faces at the leasing office, and convenient places nearby! The Elms is awesome!

I feel at home here
I sold my house in August 2018 and moved here. My experience with the staff here has been wonderful from the day I moved in. Very courteous and friendly. Everything is kept clean and safe. I love it here and highly recommend it!!!

No place like Home
I have lived at the elms for 8 years now and could not be happier. Many of the staff have been here for years and always know me by name - this place is truly home. The office staff are always very pleasant when I have to go to the office and even took the extra step to make me feel special on my birthday after my husband passed away. I cant imagine living elsewhere. Thank you for making me family.

My home
Having lived in three different apartments here, I call this home. Why? Maintenance people are very professional, office people know us by name and always there to respond to our needs and my neighbors go out of their way to say hello! The location is #1 in my books, close to Metro, 95, 495 and the Fairfax County Parkway. The yards are very clean and no trash flying around. The property has won a lot of awards that are on display in the office, too.

Do not live here
Winter is coming they say they will plow the community but only do the office. Appliances are old and they replace them with old ones. Your rent when time to renew goes up $100.00 more a month. and they charge the fees every renewal, where other communities do not. It is becoming trashy the compactor breaks every week so they get these large containers for you to throw trash in it looks terrible in the community. Parking is terrible after 6pm seriously do not move here.

I moved in July of this year. The grounds are immaculate. Parking is more than ample. It is centrally located near shopping, dining and Springfield Town Center. Its an amazing place to live!
