Centered between Bear Branch and Patuxent River, Maryland City features a slew of luxuries for its high-income residents. The suburbs brim with scenic landscapes, and visitors often travel slowly over the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in hopes of seeing the leaves change colors for autumn. The whole of Maryland City is bisected by the rivers, making one half the perfect place for peaceful living, while the other half boasts shopping and dining experiences.
From a bird’s eye perspective, the city appears to be a labyrinth of suburban homes and roads, surrounded on all sides by lush forests. Families flourish in the area, which means education ranks as 4 percent higher than the Maryland average. With a graduation rate of 90 percent, Maryland City takes pride in knowing over half of its students go on to earn bachelor’s degrees at prestigious universities.

Property Ratings at The Elms at Laurel Park
LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE PLACE. i would give 0 stars if i could. im not sure if i should start with the incompetence with the manager and the staff or with the health hazards of this place. Rats, coach roaches, bedbugs. the trash fills up most of the building entrance's ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. we have had no AC no hot water for days- mind you the HOTTEST days. we have elderly people, ill people, babies, toddlers, kids, regular people living with NO AC! they sent out an email saying it will be fixed on a specific time and date but nothing yet! if you bring up your worries and issues to the front office they dismiss you giving you no importance to you or your apartment. they always have nasty attitudes as if it's our fault they are incompetent. DO NOT MOVE HERE. PLEASE DO NOT MOVE HERE!
I toured this community today. I was greeted two of the most pleasant Leasing Agents Angela and Victoria. These ladies both have very welcoming spirits. That alone made me feel a home already.....walking thru the buildings, you can see the facelift taking place. However, the apartments are slightly dated for the price BUT the apartments are spacious. The location is perfect, just down the road from shops and major.
Mice, roaches, filthy hallways and stairwells, unchecked leaks and foul smells in hallways, elevators frequently down, poor maintenance practices, poor management, "security" doors always broken, says pet friendly but no pet disposal stations anywhere on property so people leave their poop on the grounds, trash all around the property/no enclosures, the main building where the office is undergoing a "renovation" for the past 30 days and still not completed. Replaced with more carpeting that is already stained and dirty (waste of money), and light colored "plank" that will be filthy in less than 60 days guaranteed. New owners only want money and more money. They amount of rent they charge should more than cover them being able to provide at least a modicum of decent and clean housing. It's embarrassing to live here, but sadly everyone cannot just pick up and move or I'm sure this place would be nearly empty LOL.
I currently live here, and have for two years now. There is always emergency services, ESPECIALLY the police showing up here throughout the day. The supposed gym is and has been "under construction " for the last two years with NO sign of any improvement. The swimming pool has been closed and is currently closed. The old management had no answers about when it would reopen. And NOW the present property manager, rudely had no answers except that "we get to it when possible". Earlier, this year, the was an infestation of roaches because of several residents. And even AFTER, daily complaints the probably was NOT immediately resolved. Lastly, there was a decision by the new management company to raise rent, yet not fix the ills NOR the amenities that living here is suppose to include. One of the worst managed properties in laurel, and hands down in Maryland.
For starters, the front double doors within the building that I lived in are often broken on multiple occasions. The carpets in the hallway are so filthy that they leave a smell. I've also seen bugs (i.e. roaches) crawling on the walls as well as a dead mouse in the hallway near my door. Roaches came, left and returned again. They have pest control come out but it does nothing. DO NOT MOVE HERE !!!

I have lived in this complex since April 2012. In my current apartment, I recently had a heating issue. Our maintenance person, Willie, did a wonderful job in restoring my heat! He spoke to me on the phone and wanted to come right out at 10pm at night. I declined his generous offer and said it could be looked at in the morning. He was in the apartment by 9am, realized that the thermostat was not working properly and replaced it with a brand new one. It was wonderful to come home to a warm apartment. Willie has never failed to do anything but a great job!

This place is one of the worst places I have ever lived. The hot water was shut off multiple times for no reason. I feel like if the water situation is as big problem as it seems like it is then they should replace it or at least attempt to stop this from happening. Almost every week our water is shut off. The hallways smell really bad. I have to wear a nose plug to walk around the hallways because they smell so bad. You might be asking don't they clean there? Well yes they do... they mop the tile floor in front of the elevator on the first floor. I have never heard a vacuum in the hallways at all. The trash chutes are never cleaned and they tried to blame it on the residents for leaving trash all around... yeah... as someone else mentioned below some kind of deodorizing something or other will do a lot of good. There are also drug dealings going on in the parking lot as well as people hoping over the fence in the back in order to get to the drug house on the other side of the fence. In addition, some people sit in their cars doing drugs.... I witness it almost daily. I don't know of anyone who sits in a car in the hot sun for hours in order to just "hang out for the fun of it" so I am sure you can use your imagination on what's actually happening. The only good thing about this place is Myra the lady who works in the front office as well as the size of the apartments. If you don't want to heed my warnings then prepare to walk around here saying what is that smell? every single day. And be scared to walk around at night or get out of your car when you get home late because there is a gang of drug dealers in the parking lot. You have been warned. Stay away!!
Moved in 3 mo. Ago and we absolutely love our apartment. The one bedroom is Hugh. The closet space is wondeful and the price and fact that all utilities are included we couldn't have asked for better. So close to Washington Baltimore and any surrounding areas. Great for those who love to shop and lots of resturants.
I'm in a one bed, one bath apartment. It is very spacious with tons of room for storage! The walls are pretty thin but it's something you can get use to as long as you have decent neighbors. There is a coat closet when you come in the front door, another closet in the dining room area, then the walk in closet in the hallway. So much storage space, not to mention the closet in the bedroom. On top of all the room and storage space, the balcony is huge! Definitely enough space for some balcony furniture to fit quite comfortably. You have to stay on top of management to see things through, but that's with most places. The best part of it all, it's all utilities included! I've been living here since 2010 and the area is still nice with a Target and Wal-Mart right down the street.
Nestled in the heart of Laurel, Maryland, this apartment offers it all. Truly Laurel's most spacious interiors and over-sized balconies make this apartment living larger than life. The well kept courtyard offers a safe playground for kids and a common area for visitors, as well as a stunning pool and lounge area to cool off. All utilities are included at an affordable rate just steps from public transportation and only minutes away from major highways. This secret gem is secluded enough for romantic nights, but close enough for delicious bites.
Nice area with lots of shopping places around. Very spacious living area with enough closets inside. But needs some upgrading like new vanities in the kitchens and bathrooms.... and, furthermore, the rent keeps getting higher and higher
This use to be a nice place. But the rodent problem is not being addressed. Not a good situation.
I love love maintenance staff very respectful and fast. they will make sure to address your concerned in no time. they also clean up after they finished. I also love the office staff very nice. My neighbors are lovely too.
bigger laundry room for residents. over all I love the place
Uf I have to rent an apartment an Laurel Location is the best location for me I will chose this complex apartments. Likes and suggestions: Staff was always helped full
I enjoy the peaceful and quiet neighborhood. I feel safe at all hours. Neighbors are friendly and I haven't experienced anything that is alarming. The grounds are clean and the building is well kept. There are many stores in the surrounding area. I love that everything is so close.
