The Pittsfield Lodi neighborhood begins along the southwest side of Downtown Ann Arbor and extends westward Highway 52. This large area includes part of the Pittsfield Charter Township and the Ann Arbor Municipal Airport. It is very close to Oak Valley Center, Briarwood Mall, the University of Michigan-South Campus, and Michigan Stadium – a historic football stadium, nicknamed the “Big House,” is home to the Michigan Wolverines.
When looking at Ann Arbor apartments, be sure to check out the Pittsfield Lodi area – it is a beautiful neighborhood, filled with mature trees and quiet lanes. And with such fast access to downtown, the university, the airport, Pittsfield Lodi is deceptively peaceful.

Property Ratings at The Emerson
The Emerson seems to be one of those properties where you will either have a wonderful experience or a terrible experience. Unfortunately, I am in the latter category. I had high hopes for this place and was excited at the prospect of moving here. The updated units were beautiful. The staff were friendly and personable. The complex was conveniently located. The rent, at first, was nice for Ann Arbor's standards and was student-friendly until they raised it because I did not apply the following morning. I had to drive out of state the day of the showing, which they knew about. The moment I signed a lease, everything went left. The fact that I had to move twice because the first apartment was not move-in ready, was poorly renovated, and was not the model I was told I was going to get angers me. I'm currently paying the original offer price for a lower quality unit. My mistake. Every day I am here, I feel like I am being exploited. It is difficult to feel at home. The quality of my apartment makes me feel disgusted at times. When I said the carpet smelled like pee, I was told no pets lived in the unit before me - as old as this place is. Never mind that there was a little vomit stain on the carpet (which was there during my quick showing when I was moving out of the first apartment...I should've looked at it closer) in the second bedroom and pet dander in the vents. My rent offer was for an updated unit, which I am not in. I was told the unit I'm currently in was updated, and it's clearly not. The apartment is falling apart every few weeks and chock full of poorly done quick fixes (that sometimes do more damage than before). Maintenance has been mostly non-responsive. The excuse I hear from the PM is that I have a "do not enter" request on my work orders. From this request, they (1) don't contact me for weeks to try to work out a time or (2) they'll violate my "do not enter" request and send people over when I'm not home. I seriously hate it here, and I was hoping to find somewhere to stay for the next few years and to call home, so I'm disappointed that this doesn't seem to be the place. If they show you multiple units during your visit and you get to see your prospective apartment, go for it. You might luck out in scoring a beautiful home at a nice price. If you're only shown the model or told that your unit "is still being worked on," then reconsider. Chances are, you're moving into a unit that isn't worth the price or year-long headache.

I have lived at The Emerson for five years now. I am pleased to say that my time here has been most enjoyable and pleasant. My apartment is well appointed and in a very nice location on the rear of the complex. I have deer, rabbits, ground hogs and squirrels to watch and photograph. I would recommend this complex to everyone.

I moved here from Alabama to work for U of M and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. It’s an easy drive/bike to work, the service team is responsive/completes my request in a reasonable amount of time, the staff is nice, and I like the the layout of my apartment. The biggest factor why my roommate and I chose this complex is because we both have our own full size bathrooms on opposite sides of the apartment. ??

I have been here since the end of July and they never cease to disappoint me. 1. Management doesn’t know what’s going on (my apartment wasn’t ready for move-in, promises are never finished, contractors do a low quality job, etc.) 2. Maintenance cuts corners and repairs break or cause more issues (my door closes less now than before, I’ve put service requests in for the same thing to break a later, job quality is the least of their worry, and they never clean up after themselves) 3. The Emerson will throw out their $5 million improvement plan but not mention the impacts that has on current residents (reduced parking, nails and debris in the grass, half completed projects, toilets everywhere, over flowing garbage) 4. The “premium” apartments include the cheapest possible stainless steel appliances (the dishwasher is terrible and isn’t stainless steel, I have to leave half a shelf empty so the refrigerator door doesn’t pop open randomly, the stove is impossible to clean, the washer is old and not HE) 5. When you tour, they won’t let you see anything but the model (my biggest mistake) 6. The walls and floors/ceiling are incredibly thin and creak constantly 7. Ice and snow is not cleared in a reasonable time frame 8. The doors and windows are old and drafty 9. They slap a new layer of paint right over cracks and chipping paint instead of properly preparing the surface before painting

Recently moved in and I'm glad I choose to live here. First of all, great location: takes 1-2 mins to get on 94, right next to the Mall, great stores nearby such as Whole foods and Target, and only 5-8min drive to downtown. The staff are friendly and host great monthly happy hours for the community. Overall the community is quite, no issues with neighbors and the apartments are very spacious. What more can you ask for!

They manage too many properties for the number of maintenance workers they have. The workers are great when they do come, but it takes weeks-months before any respond to any issues.
Garbage pick up fee is mandatory. Apartments are out dated. Property manager and staff are inattentive.
I have lived in Signature Club for 7 years, I am soon moving and felt compelled to leave a review. I choose the apartment due to its close proximity to the University Health System. I have never been dissatisfied with my choice. The community is peaceful, beautifully maintained and truly a beautiful apartment home. The maintenance staff is outstanding, they respond quickly to any needs, are respectful and professional. Although I have had little time to participate in community events, there are many including monthly hot breakfast, pool parties, happy hours, and special events for children as well. I could go on and on. Lastly, I want to thank the management company, the property managers, the office staff, and the wonderful maintenance staff who have made this truly a wonderful home. Good Bless You all! and a sincere thank you! The Chege Family 3085A
The amenities offered are amazing! Pool, sauna, tennis court, sand volleyball, grills, and gym. The clubhouse offers breakfast Monday through Friday and also has a hot breakfast once a month. The staff are friendly and usually respond quickly to requests. Right next to the mall and only a few minutes from downtown.
At Signature Club, you will be paying a higher price then what you would at other Ann Arbor apartments not located downtown. With the higher price comes a wonderful community with great units and a lot to do. I moved to Ann Arbor not knowing anything about the city or anyone in it. I chose Signature Club because of the great unit I toured. I live in a large one bedroom unit with my own washer/dryer, vaulted ceilings, a balcony and a newly renovated kitchen. It is a gorgeous place for my first out of college. The maintenance staff is apt in their turnaround on any requests you submit. Managing living here is a breeze with the online resident portal to pay rent, schedule maintenance, and pay utilities through. The real benefit of living at Signature Club is the community events at this complex. Signature club has a tennis court, volleyball court, pool, 24-hour fitness center, clubhouse with a FREE continental breakfast M-F, plus several parks and walking trails right outside it. The community ambassadors they have also put on events for the residents each week from happy hours (they provide everything), to large sponsored pool parties, volleyball tournaments and more. I came to Ann Arbor not knowing anyone and within a month of going to events I've made great friends and love this city even more. I highly recommend living at Signature Club, you get your money's worth.
At Signature Club apartments you're going to pay a little bit more than other apartments in the Ann Arbor area. On the plus side though, you do get your money's worth. Starting with just my apartment, it is large one bedroom with a vaulted ceiling, balcony, washer/dryer, new appliances and a newly renovated kitchen. The benefits of Signature Club don't stop at the unit. The maintenance staff is quick to turnaround any request which you can submit in person, by phone or online in a resident's portal on the main site. Rent can also be paid online making it easy to never miss a due date on your bills. Finally the community features. Signature Club features a 24-hour workout center, a large clubhouse with a full kitchenette, free Continental breakfast M-F, a large pool, volleyball court, tennis court plus several walking trails. Our community ambassadors put on events every other week from large pool parties to happy hours and trivia. Moving to a new city can be tough, but at Signature Club my worries of meeting new people and finding something to do were washed away the minute I signed the lease.
We chose this apartment because of the amenities it has to offer. My previous apartments did not have a club house and boy, was I missing out! The clubhouse offers free breakfast Monday through Friday and a hot breakfast once a month. We have a great pool, tennis court, sand volleyball, sauna, and gym. There are also events to attend every other week such as happy hours. Maintenance has quickly responded to our requests and the other staff are friendly. Finally, its near the mall and many other stores and is only a few minutes from downtown!
I lived here from 1995-2000, then called Signature Villas Apartments. I returned in 2013. I absolutely love, love, love living here, now called Signature Club Apartments. I moved back here because it is located a safe walk across the street to Briarwood Mall. I occasionally have access to a car but you don't need it living here. The bus line is located at the mall. I feel so safe and secure here. I chose the third floor for the view.
Nice Area. Apartments are okay at best. Overpriced. Limited parking. Inattentive Management and staff. Dirty and not well-maintained. High utility bills. Hot-tub and exercise equipment always broken. There are many safer and better places nearby for your money.
