Property Ratings at The Fitz Apartments
I have lived here for 2.5 years—it’s a great value for the quality of the units and the location. We have had a series of uninvolved management companies but the current management is amazing — incredibly responsive, persistent with contractors if issues re-emerge, and personable. She goes above and beyond—she even organized an adorable breakfast-on-the-go for us on Valentine’s Day. I’m very satisfied and would recommend the Fitzgerald to anyone interested in living in the area and willing to take buses or walk a bit for the metro.
Been living here for a little over two years now. I gotta say the location is probably my favorite part of this place. 16th St. Bus stop right in front of our front door to the building and the 14th St. bus stop only a 3 minute walk away. I think these are set up well I can only speak for the 1 bedroom. Management: For almost the past 2 years has been almost nonexistent. From complaints we had filed there always seemed to be a lack of communication and a lot of turn over. I'm not sure what was going on there but it was frustrating. When we would ask for something like fix the bike room, fix the front door to the apt. that seems to never lock. We keep having packages stolen, not enough recycling bins for the whole complex, the list went on and on. There was a lot of radio silence probably due to turnover? But I don't know what happened but in 1/2020 I think the higher ups at the company finally got the hint and hired a godsend! Natasha who has been probably working for less than 2 months in our buildings management position has literally done EVERYTHING we have asked for and more in the two months she has been the manager than the entire 2 years prior of living here. I didn't realize how much better your quality of life could be with such a competent and caring manager. Natasha alone has literally made our lives so much better since she has taken over management of our building. She should already get a raise, and if she already has give her another this person works hard for the residents and it has shown. Major Props! MAINTENANCE IS THE BEST THOSE PEEPS ROCK THEIR JOB. I have never had an issue writing them to fix anything in my apartment from creaky floorboards to a broken dishwasher, to a broken window lock to bathroom re-caulking. Give those guys a raise too they're awesome and timely! I've truly enjoyed living in this apartment as I have the majority of my time in DC and I'm trying to convince my friends to move in because it's that great of a place to live. The only reason I put 4 stars instead of five was because it took management two years to find our savior, Natasha, and also because I think they should put a grill and wall off the front yard to residents so we can have an outdoor patio to grill and have BBQs with friends on the weekends. I'd even pay a reasonable amount to reserve it for groups! Look into it Fitz!
Management is unresponsive and condescending. What is it a year now one of the washing machines has been broken? Mice are an issue in the building. No on site management means packages go missing ... management will not answer such inquiries. Doesn't hurt to check out the crime map before moving in either.
The location cannot be beat. The management company could be better though -- they are slow to fix repairs.
The Fitzgerald on 16th Street is an ideal apartment building for a dog or cat owner. The pet-friendly boutique apartment features a small dog park (with free waste bags available), and thick walls that ensure that tenants never have to hear the barking of their "pint size neighbors". Even if you don't own a pet (I don't), the building still a lot to offer. Great laundry facilities, a community gym and friendly neighbors, it felt like home from my first day here. The location is bike friendly, and bus friendly, with a short 10-minute walk to the metro.
