Garrett sits just southeast of Duke Forest and the prestigious Duke University Golf Club. This residential area represents one of the newer portions of town and has a more suburban feel than some of the quirkier parts of downtown Durham. Substantial brick houses sit closely together in exclusive subdivisions with manicured lawns.
Although the neighborhood has dozens of houses, its proximity to the forest and other natural setting that have yet to be developed or have been returned to a natural state create a feeling of quiet seclusion.

Awful place to live. Neighbors are noisy and the office staff is highly inconsiderate of any requests. They treat all of the residents as commodities and focus solely on profits.
Despite a few bumps shortly after moving in, we could not be happier. Maintenance is phenomenal - attentive and very responsive. I have never had to wait more than a business day for a problem to be looked at and fixed. The office is also exceptional. They are always planning fun activities for residents, and they're wonderfully helpful with anything I have ever asked for help with! On top of all of the staff being amazing, the apartment itself is gorgeous, spacious and beautiful. The grounds are very well kept and tended to. The area is quiet but too far away from downtown Durham or Chapel Hill. And, if you work at Duke - one of the biggest employers in the area - you get a discount!!

We will be leaving this apartment complex in two months and not renewing the lease because of the current manager and management company. We have lived here four years and were happy here. Then the current manager came on board and it has been a devastating experience. We returned home recently after being abroad for three months. We had informed the manager that we may be gone for 4-5 months. The manager emailed us abroad that the condensing unit leaked and damaged the carpet in the living room and hallway. She wanted my permission to replace the carpet in the whole apartment because the carpet would not match and not look nice if changed on two separate occasions. The manager’s explanation of the leak was that the AC Unit was not circulating air properly during high summer temperatures because of being off and it had a buildup of condensation that leaked. My family member was very sick and so I gave permission to replace the carpet without thinking very much about it. Upon our return, our whole apartment is in shambles. We did not have a decent place to sleep when we came back from the airport late at night. Nothing is in its place and it will take me weeks to sort through and clean everything. We feel violated and cannot stop mourning the loss of our home of four years. My family member died and her belongings in this apartment have been thrown like garbage into piles. This makes me sick in the stomach. It is too painful to live in this apartment for two months. The manager is content that the apartment has new carpet. This should not have happened if the manager did her job of having the maintenance staff inspect the AC unit regularly. We informed her well in advance that the apartment will be vacant for several months. The manager is very immature and has no concept of helping residents. She only cares about getting money from the residents. We had two mice in our apartment earlier this year. I had to contact the owners of this apartment complex to get help because the manager has no compassion and no understanding of customer service. I have never had such experience in 22 years in US in any apartment complex. I will never recommend this apartment complex with current manager and management company.

It is definitely unfortunate that a leak occurred in your apartment, especially while being abroad, and is something that we also did not want to occur. As soon as we were aware of the leak, direct communication was made as well as the immediate start of repairs. We did not want to delay any repairs, which could potentially have caused further damage to the apartment or to your items. I am available to discuss the preventative steps we took to ensure there was no water damage to your items, which is one reason we needed to replace the carpet in its' entirety in case any moisture traveled throughout the carpet pad. This complex is a great place to live. It is convenient to lots of shopping. The staff is very nice. Maintenance is also great. I have lived here for three years. I hope to move to the upgraded apartments, which are very nice. I plan to live here for awhile.
A very nice community. With a great staff members that cares about you and your well been. A pleasant area to stay as well as walking distance to a shopping center and serveral nice restaurnts to pick and choose from. Idea place for a couple, family starting or a single person. Older apartments given a cosmetic facelift recently from Greystar. I like the changes that have been made, the apartments are older so the apt I live in is outdated in terms of finishes, cabinetry, appliances and it looks like an old apartment inside. They are upgrading apts when people move out with a more modern look. The walls are pretty thin, my tub creaks and my windows and doors are drafty. I get a large porch, though and they haven't increased the rent by a large amount (yet). The infrastructure of the bldgs is outdated with a nice coat of paint on the outside...so really check the apartment out when looking at this place.
It is a great area in which located between Durham and Chapelhill. You have Duke and Chapelhill University. The community is very diverse. Walking distant to the shopping center.very rommie and space. nice pool. Maintained very well by the manager staff. as well as the maintance personel. I able to get to work in 5 minutes .
