Living here was my first apartment in the suburbs, and I would have never thought that I would be treated so much worse than any of my tenant experiences in Chicago. My advice to anyone is to take the time to read through all reviews, and make an informed decision. During the coldest temperatures this past winter, I had no heat. It was less than 30 degrees in my apartment for several days. The first time I reported it, the maintenance ticket was closed with no update. The second time I reported it, I received several different reasons which ultimately landed at no resolution and I had the option of moving into another unit. They acted as though they were doing me a favor by offering this, and by granted my request to not have a penalty move out fee. I ultimately chose to part ways with Gates of Deer Grove because I didn't want to spend money moving at the risk of having the same experience twice. They refused to waive my final rent payment (which was only $459.92), and told me that they already waived the penalty move out fee... when they are the reason I had to move out. As part of my job, I oversee two departments that are responsible for resolving customer issues and providing stellar customer service. I have NEVER experienced this level of disrespect and incompetence.

Multiple packages stolen. Complained to management and I got a "we'll look into it". Look into what? The cameras that you have in the entrance of the buuldings that haven't worked in 15 years? (But are clearly on show to be a "crime free housing unit"). The building is literally collapsing and the AC units are a loud nightmare. If you want to turn on your oven be prepared for the smoke alarm to go off. You can pay less to get the same quality of living, if that's what you are in to. Im only giving it 2 stars because of the location. Its nice to be close to a preserve and shopping.

Dont move here. They allow people to smoke inside the buildings. They have bugs but charge you for an exterminator who doesnt show. They dont fix things in a timely manner. The manager is very rude when it comes to having to put work orders in. They will show you 1 apartment then give you a different one. They charge you a high amount for gas even though you have to have a space heater to stay warm. Your better off going somewhere else. This place is just very bad. They allow drugs to be sold on the property. The parking is a mess. They have cameras in some of the buildings but then srate they dont have any. They fight with you on fixing anything. Then after you move out they charge you a crap load of extra money even after you turned in the keys and never tell you what youbowe it for.

I lived at this complex for the last year and regret leasing here. The lease is very anti-tenant and pro-landlord and the tenant has no negotiating power. The landlord will nickel and time you for everything that they can get out of you. The apartments are faux-nice and cost significantly more than other places in Palatine. The materials used on closer inspection are cheap and flimsy. My bathroom sinks were permanently clogged for example. Their repairman also yelled at me when I requested heat on a 45 degree day. I would lease elsewhere.

First, the leasing office staff is super nice and helpful. They are very accommodating and very friendly. The maintenance staff is also very helpful. They just recently came through and updated our thermostats so now they are digital. There is a dog park and pool here that are nice. Those are the only amenities that I have used and have been pleased with them. Most of the neighbors are nice, everyone keeps to themselves mostly. The apartments, are awful. They are small. They are outdated. And THEY ARE WAAAAAY OVERPRICED. You can hear EVERYTHING from every neighbor around you and in the hallway. I get woken up at least 1-2 times a night from either a neighbor or the hallway. You could say I could call and complain about the noise, but they are just walking through or around. When I moved in the apartment was poorly painted, the “hardwood floor” was bubbling in the kitchen and the carpet going by the bathroom was coming up. Oh and just for the fact, most units do not have washer and dryers. The shared ones by the building, are always broken. The machine to refill your laundry card, all the way by the leasing office. The washer and dryer is insanely expensive. There’s tons of laundromats around, it’s worth it. The hallways are dark and smell horrible. Also, there is NEVER parking. This is my 2nd unit in this complex and I always have to drive around for parking. You can’t park on the street past 8 pm either. I tried calling the police when it was -50 to say I couldn’t find any and they told me that the nearest place I could park was the train station (well over 3 miles away) because the property will tow my car. Oh on top of that, you have to pay for a parking pass in cook county now, but can’t park on the street. In my opinion residents here pay way too much for the unit themselves and all of these issues. Wish there were more recent reviews when I applied here, would have probably looked elsewhere.

Staff is wonderful, always attentive. The buildings and grounds are kept in great shape. Any time I have needed to contact maintenance they have responded quickly. It is clear the staff really care about their tenants. Also really great for pet owners! I have lived here for 2 years and don't plan on leaving any time soon.

I have lived here for 3 or more years, I have nothing but wonderful things to say. The Gates of Deer Grove Apartments have very nice size apt and wonderful staff. The maintenance is superb, I have never seen maintenance that respond in the same day of the order. The last few snow storms the maintenance personnel removed the snow from around my car so that I can get out. The office staff is very helpful with all my needs no matter what. I could've picked a better place to live for me and my daughter. This is a great place to rent from.

Have been living at Deer Grove for almost 3 yrs. Very good maintenance and most important very friendly customer service from Sharon and Tayali! They are very helpful and very knowledgeable. It is also a very quite place and ideal for families. Lately they have been entertain us with various events and parties and it is an excellent idea so we get together with our neighbors and know them better. Love their pancakes special day few weeks ago. Lots of washers and dryers so I never have to wait for my laundry. Very clean premises. My only concern is that they should reopen the drop box so it is convenient for all of us to drop off rent and bills.

(Current resident) I feel as if the previous management company did a better job with the care of the community. Concerns and questions got addressed quickly and the follow through was great. However, with the new management I have noticed a lack of care for the community. (Not that I have an issue with doing my part) There has been an increase of litter in the yards, that doesn't seem to get picked up (unless myself or other residents do it). General maintenance of the buildings seem to be slacking, and an increase of flyers and advertisements seems like a waste of paper honestly. The office staff has not changed, and they have ALWAYS been prompt and helpful. I have never had a problem dealing with them. The price is a bit un-reasonable for the space you get and what is "included"considering it's not Chicago, nor a Condo, nor a town-home. A plus in my opinion, it's pretty quiet, minus hearing neighbor noise...but hey, it's an apartment, I guess you can't expect everything. Moving upon lease term expiring in the fall.

The day I moved into my apartment (which is similar to what agent showed my previously) there is big dirty rush on my living room wall.. I try to get fair treatment from leasing management to get it fixed so many times but poor response, still not fixed. Air conditioner are so old that they make loud noises which I also try to get replaced but again no response, still not being replaced. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHECK EACH AND EVERYTHING IN YOUR APARTMENT BEFORE MOVING IN.

We lived there for 5 months and I've never seen so many spiders inside before. Every day I'd kill 3 or 4 in the bathroom. We lived on the ground level and the floor had a distinct tilt towards the windows. It was even noticeable when lying in the bed -- you'd roll towards the window. The apartment we rented was not updated like the model we were shown -- the appliances were old and the dishwasher was very loud. Every time we turned on the oven (even before putting anything in it) the smoke detector would go off with an ear-piercing screech, so every 5 minutes while cooking we'd have to poke the smoke detector to shut it off. The noise from the apartment above us wasn't terrible, but there was almost a constant squeaking of the floor as they moved about, and the plumbing was pretty loud in the morning. The window air conditioners were also very loud, especially in the small bedroom.

My husband and I, along with our 2 cats moved here about a month ago. It's very quiet, the maintance comes super quick after a call in, and the community is just very pretty. It's been perfect for my husband and I! My only complaint is that with our garden view room, we get really bad reception with our phones for calls. Other than that, we have really enjoyed it thus far!
