Gates is very nice. The apartment has newer appliances and wall paint, feels like a nice hotel, and maintenance is fast and friendly. I also enjoy the walking path, bench and pool right outside my window. So far, no issues with neighbors and the community has been quiet, safe and peaceful at night. Gilda at the leasing office has been incredibly sweet and helpful, she made the move easier and she also took the time to walk over and make sure I locked my new place when I was at work and was worried I'd forgotten.

It happened so often that people smoke marijuana in your doorway. It's not good for the family with children to live here.

While we live there, our car and people live in the same areas, all of the cars been hit by someone who not live there, but office cameras would not let us to check the license plate, and the office refused to help any information. The office phone number does not answer.

I lived at the Gates in 2018 and it was a great experience! The apartment was nice, the staff was awesome, and at that time I would have highly recommended! BUT, a few months ago, I reapplied to The Gates again. Not totally unexpected, I was denied, as my credit situation had changed. The BAD: I have been waiting for two months for them to refund my holding deposit. They have written me two checks that I have been unable to cash-- when I try to cash them, I am told that the checks cannot be read, and no one will cash it. I have contacted the Gates several times, but I have not gotten my deposit back yet. I am truly dissapointed, as like I said, before this, I would recommend The Gates as a great place to live.

I recommend anyone who is planning to live here to take time and consider it because you are gonna regret it big time. I have never seen management like this before. First of all, they are unprofessional when they speak to you, they rip off money as they have never seen before. Just unethical, hungry, and unprofessional when dealing with money, I have been trying to get the money I was cheated at first for a few months now, I bet they don't give you a day when it comes to taking out the money from the bank. I've been treated so bad just to get my own money, I've been told they're going to cut me a check from time and time again. Anyhow if you're looking for an apartment, the gates should be your last option. I have never seen management like this before.
Pictures can be deceiving. Not the neighborhood I would want to raise my kids in
I was there for 3 years. In that time there was a robbery in the parking lot with a knife, big apartment fire, drunk woman that drove into a wall of a building at 7 am, 2 people that drove into the mailbox area and corner by front office, aggressive dogs that were not in control by owners, older males that would publicly urinate, people would have their wipers stolen off their vehicles, theft of laundry in laundry room (none of the cameras work), drunk men that would just hang around the property and laundry rooms, hit and run in the parking lot, people speeding through the complex and they tried to fine us for not picking up after our dog although they had picked up a bag of poop that had fallen because they didn’t empty the trash and just assumed it was ours. The police are constantly being called in. Neighbors are loud at night and dogs are always barking. Broken beer bottles are common. Hopefully this will help someone to NOT rent here.

The Gates has gotten to be such a better place. They are putting money into the apts and grounds. Its shaping up to be a nice safe place. I have never had an issue with not feeling safe, everyone seems nice.

He has taken a big inrest in our property you can tell he has a lot of experience in the business compared to the last to manger with none on the job training mark cares about the complex not playing favorites as last two did get to know him. Marion is a great supervisor long with the mantanice men they will help you with anything the grounds keepers keeping it clean and working on everything else looking good for a large complex and what can I say about the office women they will do anything to help you in there power on anything if you get to know them one you see some renters are never happy and it always someone else fault that every where there try hard all of them

Would not recommend. Ever have problems? Don’t hold your breath getting it fixed. Hot water stopped working middle of winter and it took them 3 days to fix. AC went out for a whole week in the middle of summer and it was 95 in my place. They mischarged me for rent and two weeks later I still do not have my money back. There were problems with weed smokers in my building and the Gates did nothing about it. A group of college kids lived below me for a short time and would blast music at 8am on Saturday mornings. Thin walls. Cars that sit parked outside for hours with their lights and music blasting at midnight on a weekday night. I see cop cars here at least once a month for various reasons. Parents give their children their key to the adult workout room and kids go in their acting like it’s a playground. Place was not fully cleaned when I moved in. I was new to town so didn’t know better... I chose this place because it was all I could afford. Save yourself the endless headaches and spend a few extra dollars for a better place.

Police are constantly being called and the gates of Rochester is constantly in the news. There are kids as young as 3 years old that constantly wander into the street UNSUPERVISED and personally seen them almost hit by cars. Cars constantly speeding through complex and ignoring stop signs. Laundry room is usually dirty and littered with trash. Usually loud at night. Not a safe place to live, I would NOT recommend anyone to move here.
It is NOT a quiet community! They say to call and let the office know your issues, but they do absolutely NOTHING to end the issues! Quiet time starts at 10PM? Yeah right! Speed limit 5mph, yeah right, it’s more of a race track! Hope you don’t have kids, if you do and actually parent your child/children you better hope they know not to even attempt to use the crosswalk actually expecting vehicles to stop for any pedestrian as they will do no such thing!! Hope you enjoy pets as the units come with free pet roaches and bed bugs!!! Completely, and absolutely disgusting!
