Property Ratings at The Gibson
We live on the top floor, and people frequently gather on the roof at night, making loud noises, smoking marijuana, and throwing things onto our balcony. We've tried calling the office when that happens, but no one responds. We complained about that and the office staff gave us a phone number, but at night nobody ever answered. This time my husband was standing outside and someone threw a very heavy block and it hit him on the back of the head/neck. The main door has been broken for months, the hallways are dirty and stained. The place always smells like garbage. It's definitely not a safe place. So far, we've had a very bad experience here.

Do NOT live here. We got charged over a thousand dollars after moving out on things that are considered normal wear and tear by every other apartment complex I've ever lived in. I've never experienced this level of disrespect and dismissal towards my roommate and myself. We'd been tenants for 3 years. The first 2 years were awesome, but this new management team has ruined everything great about this apartment complex. In addition to the blatant disrespect, the doors are always left unlocked, the garbage room is so dirty, and it's become a shell of what it used to be. READ THE OTHER REVIEWS FROM TENANTS. DO NOT MOVE HERE IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A NORMAL APARTMENT LIVING EXPERIENCE. Look elsewhere.

Management is terrible. The building is disgusting. There is trash and dog poop constantly throughout the halls. Dont even bother making complaints. No one responds by email and even if you go to management in person, they claim to be fixing the issues and they never do. Been living here for two years and regret re signing my lease. I cannot wait to move out.

I moved into the Gibson in 2020 and loved it at first. However, once new management took over a couple years ago, things went downhill VERY quickly. It became extremely difficult to get office staff to respond to any phone calls or emails (they often claimed to "never have received" the messages), the hallways and common areas were no longer well-maintained, and safety took a big hit. For a while, almost every single exterior key fob around the whole building was broken. Doors were routinely propped open and there were frequently people lingering outside or wandering the halls. After I moved out, it took 4 months (and 10+ phone calls and emails) to receive my security deposit back. The location is excellent and the size/layout of some units is great, but ultimately I would not recommend living here.

I moved in under the old ownership/mgmt. and had a great living experience. New ownership has basically no idea what they are doing and run the place into the ground. Only thing going for it is location. Not worth the rent.

The Gibson is a great place to live that makes me feel comfortable and safe on a daily basis. The staff is attentive and make residents feel at home. The location is perfect for being in plaza midwood, but separated from heavy traffic areas or other apartment complexes.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review! The comfort of our residents is of the highest importance to us. We are happy to know the quality of your apartment and the service of our staff have met your expectations. - The Gibson, Community Director
I love the Gibson! I was one of the first residents to move into this complex. I signed my lease while construction on the building was still being completed back in 2017. I have been here ever since. When I first moved I didn't know all that much about Charlotte even growing up in nearby Gastonia, NC but I now know that I chose the perfect location for my apartment. I think Plaza Midwood is the best neighborhood in Charlotte and the traffic still is not too crazy yet here. Everyone I have met here is so nice and the staff and management is extremely professional and accommodating. I have recommended the Gibson multiple times to friends. My sister just moved into the Gibson a week ago from NYC and I know she is going to love it. I have been very busy with work and have not had a lot of time to go to a lot of the community events but I just switched jobs and have some more free time so now my sister and I plan to try some of the community events.

The Gibson is amazing! Along with the history of the place it’s well maintained and quiet and the community itself is great.

Thank you for this excellent rating! We are honored to have earned your high recommendation. - The Gibson, Community Director
Compared to the other apartment complexes in the area, The Gibson doesn't provide the same care and security for their residents or the building itself. Walls have black marks and other blemishes all over them, security pads for doors don't work so anyone who can get in the garage can enter the building. All food delivery persons who gain access codes from residents who refuse to meet them in the main lobby can freely roam the complex and potentially hurt or harm residents and property.

Our team has recently taken over the community as new management and we look forward to many changes ahead. We'd love the opportunity to connect and make sure to turn your experience into a positive one. If you have any suggestions please do not hesitate to stop by the office or give us a call.
I would not recommend living here if someone likes interactions with the staff. I dont interact much, so its fine but the few interactions Ive had arent the best.
So far, living at Gibson has been great. I was a lit skeptical before I moved in but now I am convinced that I made the right choice picking Gibson. The staffs are very helpful and nice. The community is located in a good environment within nice restaurants within walking distance. Everyone I have met so far in the community has been great. The amenities are not bad either. Currently I am glad I signed with Gibson.
We really enjoy everything so far! We cant wait for warmer days so we can sit out on our patio. Any issues weve had have been solved quickly.
I've never lived in an apartment quite like the Gibson! My boyfriend and I moved here in May of 2020 (middle of the pandemic). We were moving from out of state and weren't able to come and see the apartment in person for a number of reasons. Jeffery was so helpful by giving us a virtual tour and answering a million of our questions to help put us at ease during a major move. The Gibson Is very community-oriented. They are always putting on fun events for the residents (including virtual and socially distant ones right now) and for the pets! All our friends back home are jealous when we tell them about the fun things our apartment does I would 100% recommend The Gibson to anyone and we are so lucky to have found this apartment and to call it home here in Charlotte.
I have a beautiful 3rd floor one bedroom one bath apartment at the Gibson with large windows and a sliding door opening to clear evening views of the colorful city skyline. The neighborhood is ideal for dog walking with many handsome old bungalows to admire. You can leave the car at home and walk to consignment shops, restaurants, breweries, bakeries and salons. This is a great area too for bike riding following the Queen City routes. Super convenient location just 2 miles from some of my favorite shops including Trader Joes, Target and Marshalls.
If you are looking for a bright, fun, nice quality place to live in a great neighborhood close to uptown Charlotte, The Gibson is definitely the place to go! I love my new home!
I really like the community is beautiful and inviting however the apartments are noisy making it difficult for early risers to get sleep
Well managed property! Would like more indoor parking but street parking is a great safe alternative. Unfortunately some dog owning residents are irresponsible about discarding dog waste so the side entrance that I use often smells... because this issue persists and people dont change Id like to request more frequent clean up and perhaps more signage? Thank you!
