With its rolling hills, mature trees, and neat houses on tidy lawns, Idylwood is aptly named: it is both idyllic and wooded. But there's more to this picture-perfect neighborhood than meets the eye. Sure, it has paved bicycle trails, wide sidewalks, and beautiful parks -- but it is also strategically located. Idylwood is on the west side of Falls Church, framed by I-66 and I-495. Washington DC is directly west, roughly 12 miles away. The Metro train's Orange line takes commuters to the city in about 20 minutes, making Idylwood perfect for those who work in the city but want a quieter place to call home.

Property Ratings at The Glen
I have lived on site in two different apartments for 6 years and I love this complex. The property manager is always kind and thoughtful, and the maintenance team is super responsive, caring, and trustworthy. I’d highly recommend this place.
I have called The Glen my home for the last 9 years. It’s a great place to live. The property manager and maintenance team are awesome!
Lived here for two years and really enjoyed it! Apartments are well-kept and many have recently been renovated. Staff is kind and grounds are well kept. Only downside was that my studio had an HVAC floor unit which heated and cooled very well when it was turned on but it didn't maintain a set temperature, so I often had to turn it on and off to regulate a temp that suited me. That said, some units do have central air. No in-unit washer/dryer but you get used to it and the washer/facilities are cleaned regularly and well-kept. That also makes the price more affordable than other local apartments!
Nice place and cozy and convenient, mostly everything is close by. The only thing I don't like is the entrance doors are always hitting when you close it, it makes loud noise. Other than that it's good!
I’ve lived at the Glen for 3 years now and it is by far my favorite property that I’ve lived in! The grounds are beautiful and well kept, maintenance is prompt, and the location is very convenient. Safeway directly across the street, Auto shop within walking distance, and an abundance of shopping and eating districts a short drive away. Julie, the property manager, is wonderful and incredibly helpful. Id absolutely recommend others check out The Glen!
I’ve lived at the Glen for 3 years now and they have been amazing!! The community is nice and anytime anything has ever broken in my apartment they’ve responded immediately and done a great job! Larry and Joe are wonderful! Julie Seeley the manager is the best! She’s always willing to help with any issues and super friendly and easy to talk to! Overall fabulous place to live ??
I’ve been here since 2016, and I love it the apartments are spacious and remodeled. The easy access to D.C. and major highways is a great thing to have. The Neighborhood is quite, beautiful and well maintained. I would recommend The Glen Apartments. 5 stars well deserved.
The Glen Apartments are conveniently located close to the nation's capital, and by major roadways. Management is very courteous, and ready to assist in anyway possible, as are the groundskeepers. I have lived here for a good while, and am impressed with the friendly neighborhood. Not to mention, it does not take a huge bite out of your budget!
I am going to preface by saying I don't live here. However, I have been going through the process of trying to get an apartment here, and have had a disappointing experience. The staff never answers the phone. I have literally called every 15 minutes after 9am for 2 hours, and gotten no response. I sat down and wrote a check for a holding fee and application fee, and was supposed to hear back by Wednesday. The office manager did not call on Wednesday or Thursday or Friday, or return any of the several messages I left. Even if my application did not go through, someone should have called and told me. I can only imagine, that if this is how they treat people who are tying to give them money, how do they treat the people who already have?
BE AWARE OF MOVING INTO THE GLEN! They have replaced their property manager and things have seriously fallen apartment. There is a serious BED BUG infestation and management has treated the issue as if BED BUGS are no big deal. Management has done nothing to make surrounding residents aware of the infestation, and they have done nothing to treat the infestation. This is not the first time either. This is the second infestation in ONE year. New management is extremely lackadaisical. If you have any issue it takes days for them to respond to you or even acknowledge you. They also like to come up with rules without telling the community residents i.e. their towing enforcement policy suddenly change. We were allowed to park in certain areas until 9 PM. After 9 PM they would start towing. Well management changed it from 9 PM to never without notifying the residents. Many residents ended up getting towed because of managements neglect to tell the residents of their new policy. With new management they do not inspect for bugs and do monthly sprays like the used to which has caused ant and infestations on top of BED BUGS, the hallways are filthy, the laundry mat is filthy. The Glen has gone down hill SEVERELY with new management and I do not recommend anyone moving in. DO NOT MOVE INTO THE GLEN.
Property Manager at The Glen, Responded To This Review
Dear Reviewer; I am sorry that you feel your living experience here at the Glen has been less than perfect. I would encourage you to come to my office with your concerns in the future. Our residents' happiness is of utmost importance to us. Some of your complaints are new to me and it is hard to correct a situation of which I was not aware. You asserted that there is a bug infestation in your building and that there have been two in a year. Both assertions are simply not true. You are more than welcome to come see me and I can show you all the documentation from our licensed Pest Control company regarding their findings as well as treatment options and suggestions. I could also provide you with their phone number to confirm that we have followed all their suggestions. They will also confirm that they are out on the property bi-monthly doing preventative sprays. The towing rules have not changed. I am not sure why you thought that towing only occurred after 9 PM. Your original signed lease with the accompanying rules and regulations clearly include the parking rules. It states towing is 24/7. I can send you a copy if you wish. I can also provide you a with copy of your most recent vehicle registration form that you returned to me to get your parking sticker which again has the same guest parking rules clearly set forth. As for the condition of the grounds, I can tell you that we do have a new groundskeeper who is doing a good job of keeping the property very clean. I walk the property daily and have never noticed more than maybe a few leaves that have blown into the laundry room during the course of the day. The laundry room is cleaned each morning and throughout the day if needed. When are you noticing that the community is not clean? Is it happening more during the week or on weekends? Again, I am sincerely sorry that you feel your living experience has not been what it should be. Please stop in my office so that we may take steps to making you a happy resident of The Glen once more Katie Fellows Resident Manager
The best feature these apartments have is the location, 20 to 30 minutes drive to D.C or Manassas, Herdon. Easy access to main highways makes it painless going to work on either locations. Also it's affordable and management takes a really good care of the place.
The DC area is kind of a pricey area to live but The Glen is one of the nicest Apartment complexes in the area and its also one of the most affordable. It has everything necessary for a great place to live. The staff is very nice and the grounds are super clean. It's also very safe which can be tricky to find in certain parts of the DC area. No Washer/dryer unit in apartments but laundry room is nice and clean as well. Best studio apartments that I found on my search of the area. Only thing I wish I could change is the pet policy. There is a zero tolerance for any animals.
*Always attentive to apartment needs. *Friendly and visible staff *Great pool- although I do wish it were open longer hours and more days *Clean facilities including laundry, picnic and grounds
The good: Rent is cheap. Great location, being near the beltway and I-66. Near Grocery store. The bad: Everything is very, very old and dated. The floors are wood creak, you can hear you neighbors upstairs. The hallway door is slammed shut, at all hours of the day, unless one holds and slowly closes the door behind them. The window AC (no central HVAC) leaks water on the floor and does not automatically turn off, so at night time, you have to wake up and turn it off. There is no gym. If you like to have your windows open, you get to hear children screaming. Parking is limited. The rent goes up every year, which is normal, but you always ask yourself why, especially when looking at how dated and old everything is.
There is no central AC, and the window unit leaks water all over the carpet, all the time. Also the floor boards, even those of the neighbor above you, creak when you walk. Some are so old, that it takes a minute to creak back to normal. The kitchen is outdated, and looks like the original from when the building was first built (early 80's?). Same with the bathroom. Closet space is good, but the doors are the original closet doors and need to be trashed and replaced. The doorbell, has to be the original too. The carpets also, have to be at least twenty years old. The corridor, that connects to the apartments on your level, for your building number, have large doors that slam shut, unless the neighbor holds the door and slowly close it behind them. There is no gym, but there is a small pool (it's not open on Mondays though). Also the first floor units, are sort of like in a basement, but with windows giving everyone a nice view of your apartment. There is no elevator, nor handicap access. They made a stone looking side walk, that helps to make loud noises when people use a cart or something with wheels, as they roll / bump down the side walks. Parking is okay, but some tenants park both their personal and commercial vehicles in the lots. Overall, it's relatively safe, and the apartment make up is basically filled with people who are not poor, but not middle class, and sort of like the lowest, of the lower middle class. This place is transitional place, where people come and leave, usually within a year.
