Property Ratings at The GLEN VIEW
What can I say about the Glen View Building other than it's amazing!!??? The management here is incredible is one of the reasons I kept coming back to see the apartment I really wanted to rent:) The buildings are very clean and quiet and honestly even the neighbors are super friendly:) The area surrounding the buildings are gorgeous all the residential houses make it so safe and easy to take a stroll around the neighborhood on really nice days. I love my apartment it's so perfect and the natural light that I get inside is crazy beautiful:) there's so many parking spots you never have to worry when having guests come over no matter the time of day. We're also surrounded by so many stores and restaurants that you could walk to them or drive a minute or two. Honestly such a wonderful place to live with a built in gym and pool if you're really into that as well:)
I am so sad to be leaving The GlenView! Due to needing more space and timing of availability at the complex for a larger unit, I had to end my lease for after 4 great years. Any problems I incurred while living at The GlenView were always quickly addressed. The maintenance team is knowledgeable, friendly, courteous and an overall pleasure. Who knows, I might find myself back here in the future! Thanks so much for all your help in providing me a safe and enjoyable place to live! Sebastian and the maintenance team are a 10/10!
0 for star. I have been a student at Northwestern University and rented this place to benefit its one month free for a year renting. It had a lot of issues. But the most hurting part occurred when I moved out. We cleaned the apartment like what it was at the time of moving in. We bought supplies and cleaned every single items on the list for two days. After one month, we received a shocking move-out statement that we had to pay for $800. The items they charged us for were made up. We had been shocked and talked to them about it. They said they would send it to the collection agency to make us pay for it. You will have to pay whatever they say at the end. The one month free offer is the fishing bait. Do not rent this place. I wish someone told me this before moving in this place :(
DON’T rent from this place! They will rip you off!! After 6 years of being an excellent tenant due to covid we had to move out. They still charged me my last months rent with no discount. From my deposit they took almost $400 dollars for carpet detail. I even rented a machine and cleaned before I left. I left the house in excellent condition. I begged for them to help me as I was relying on that money and after promising they would look into it and making me wait they still refused. I’m appalled and happy to talk to anyone that is thinking of renting from this place. I must mention that they do have silverfish as well and I have pictures and emails as proof!!
The apartment is only a 1 bedroom but is is so spacious! There is an overload of closets, which is great! I never have trouble storing anything. The apartment is super nice, it has all kinds of upgrades and it just really feels like home. The management is awesome, they are so nice and always have time to answer my questions. Every time I have needed maintenance to come fix something, they are there within 24 hours and my problem is fixed. I have not had a lot of problems and what I have had are not really even problems, for example, once the smoke alarm needed batteries changed so it was beeping. Maintenance was there within 5 minutes to stop the beeping, no kidding. I could go on forever about what a great place this is but then people would think I was making stuff up! I am NOT. My last thing I feel I have to say is that I have not yet, in 4 months that I have lived here, I have not seen 1 bug!!! Not a spider, not an ant, not a bee, nothing.....I LOVE this place!!!
We moved out last month, and now they charged me with over $600 fee to replace their entire range. We lived there for 3 years and we indeed cook everyday, but we didn't damage the stove AT ALL, there are some normal wear and tear, and for a two-person family who lived there for 3 years, do you expect there's no wear and tear at all?? It's ridiculous that they charged us this with the entire range and didn't provide any evidence to show they can't clean it. Also, if the stovetop is really messy and they need a replacement, the stovetop comes separately and only costs $100~$150, the management team somehow purchased the entire range and blamed on us for "damaging" it. To me, it's just a way they want an upgrade and put the money on the past renters. Please look for other apartments if you have other options, and don't let them take advantage of you, because we are the example that we want everybody to be aware of. Ridiculous, and disappointed.
Too much noisy, especially for those who are working from home. Even if you close down all the windows and door its not noise proof. Most of the times, there is smell of smoking in the corridors & parking lots. There are no security cameras especially in the mail room areas, during our stay a lot of our packages have been stolen. We notified this to the management several times but they never took any action. In case they couldn't clean any appliance after your move out, they will change you for the new one.
I've been here 16 yrs. and seen unbelieveable changes.! The former owner did almost nothing..NO improvements, went thru a lot of maintenance crew, always broken washers/dryers/ parking lots full of potholes +leaking pipes/ horrible snow removal and extremely noisy tenants. 5 yrs. ago property sold and WOW....total remodeling of all 300 apts...a maintenance staff that couldn't be beat..all new landscaping/lots/lighting everywhere/150 new trees +plants +parking lots/new laundry rooms/new walls in halls/carpet/lighting/lights/ entrance lobbies w/phones to call tenants/great management to always be best of care/prompt repairs if needed.and FAB landscapers/snow removal 24/7 when necessary..and its all QUIET in my bldg...friendly tenants for sure! Come on over!!!
It’s January 2018, and I feel this place just wastes all my good feelings for this apartment, the noise is CRAZY!!!!! When can I even get a good rest?????? 1. We have to pay a pretty high bill on water, but we understand it, it’s a different neighborhood so different rules than Chicago city. 2. Our rent goes up about $100 this year, which is okay but we don’t want it to go higher next year. 3. Solicitors came to our building twice, which is creepy, but the management team handles it well, I assume there won’t be any in the future. 4. Most importantly, the noise. There’s always renovating work, and the wall cannot block any of the noise at all!!! I’m so bothered everyday waking up not by my alarm clock but by the noise, I can hear the talking, whistling, walking around, machine noise, everything... as I’m writing this I hear the hammer knocking so loudly again. It’s 8 AM....KIDDING ME??????!!!!! They said it’s gonna be noisy until September, I am so angry about it but I have no solution.....Wow, what a great apartment the Glenview is!!!!!!
There are so many problems with this apartment. elevators, carpet, water, power, filter, construction....anything you can think of happened while i lived there within 6 months. The staffs are HORRIBLE, they give you attitude when you pick up your package. There was one time I picked up my package, it clearly said on the website their manager signed for the package, but when I asked them, they said they don't know where it went and they are not holding any responsibility for it, I should go look for it myself. This is ridiculously. Also parking is not free, you will get a ticket if the police checked your sticker, it is $75 $80/year, which of course they never bother to tell you EVER before you sign the contract. SAVE YOUR TIME, DONT COME HERE.
There has not been a day when I did not hear loud noises from the units around ours. Whether it be the construction staff hammering away in the morning, or noisy frat boy-ish neighbors partying it at night despite several requests to reduce the noise, the noise at the Glen View has gotten unbearable and it wakes our kid up at night and we as a family has lost a lot of sleep. It makes me so upset because when we first moved in, the leasing agent assured us that noise is not a big issue at this property. We feel that that is not an accurate statement, and because there is a penalty to breaking the leases we are waiting it out until our lease expires. If noise is a big deal to you, I would not recommend the Glen View.
We have lived at the Glen View for one year, and we have loved it! Pros: The apartment is spacious and beautiful (we have a renovated apartment and the appliances/updates are lovely). Now that the lots are complete, parking is free and readily available. The new office is modern and chic, and the staff is always friendly. We've only needed maintenance twice this year, and both times, a staff member was there within 24 hours to fix everything perfectly. The location is top-notch, with shops, parks, and restaurants super close, and the price is far better than other places we looked at nearby. The new fitness center is tiny, but never crowded. The pool has been under construction during our time here, but if its renovations look anything like the updates in our apartment, then I'm sure it will be great. Cons: Obviously, there's been a lot of construction this year, and that has been rough. Luckily, all of that is nearly finished now. Aside from that, an issue for me personally is that I get a lot of packages for my job, and I've found that the mail system here is a little disorganized; sometimes, packages get dropped off at my door, sometimes in the lobby by the mailboxes, and sometimes in the main office. It's just hard to keep track of, and can be a little annoying. I don't care where the packages go, just keep it consistent. And finally, we both wish there was in-unit laundry...maybe someday? Overall, there is no other apartment complex in this awesome location that is this nice for this price! We love calling this place home, and highly recommend it to others!
First the good: -Good spacing all around, plus tons of storage. Even if 2 people move in, sharing the bedroom and living room should be no problem. -Centrally placed A/C (not a heater!)- The unit is quite strong; running this just a few hours kept me chilled for days. However, do note that it is cooling only, no heat. -New furnishings give the apartment a very sheik, modern look. -The internet outlet is located in the back corner of the living room. Great for keeping your computer station out of the way, less so if you want it in the bedroom. -Laundry & rubbish disposal are right down the hallway. -Spacious parking lot. -Kitchen has a small island, very handy if you don’t have or want a full-sized kitchen table. -The balcony is nice for the short time you can use it (see Cons). -Maintenance requests are very timely. -Emergency services arrived in ~7 minutes (false alarm due to construction). So with all this going for the place, what could be wrong? Well… -Starting with the big issue; the management. Upon investigating this residence, I was assured that the recreational facilities would be completed by the end of Summer. I moved on this basis (figured a few months lapse was still worthwhile). As of this posting, they owe me ~6&1/2 months of back-rent for services not rendered. Although said facilities will likely be operational by the time you read this, management’s behavior here is how you can expect to be treated should any problems arise. Incompetent at best, and greedy liars at worst. You’ve been warned. -There is an industrial grade floodlight mounted on the corner of the adjacent residence, and it is pointed directly at your bedroom. The provided blinds do nothing to shield you. If you wish to get any sleep, you will have to invest in heavy-cloth light blocking curtains. This will set you back ~$80. -This light also makes your balcony, another premium feature, completely useless from late afternoon onwards. -Fire alarm: If your bedroom door is closed, there is a good chance you won’t hear it. Simple as that. -The A/C, as I mentioned earlier, does not do heating. If you set the temperature above 65 degrees, it shuts off. Admittedly, the apartment does have good insulation, but still. So yeah; very promising at a glance, but having lived here 8 months, I can assure you it is simply not worth the risk and hassle. If you want a touch of luxury features, there are so many other options both in and around Glenview. Caveat Emptor!
In the pictures looks great! Unfortunately when you go there, they show you different apartments not as pretty. The price is high for what they offer (remember that it is not renovated and laundry not as good). Their office group are not careful at all.
