Home to UCLA, Westwood lies on the west side of the city and is considered to be one of Los Angeles’ premier neighborhoods. Bordered by Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood, and Century City, multimillion dollar homes populate the landscape and students pay a premium to rent near campus.
The university itself serves as a major cultural center for the community, including on-campus attractions (such as the Fowler Museum and the Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden) and university-affiliated venues off-campus (The Hammer Museum, the Geffen Playhouse), as well as the presence of thousands of students and faculty members throughout the neighborhood.
Directly south of campus, Westwood Village is a historic shopping district that features blocks of restaurants and businesses catering to both students and the neighborhood’s larger workforce. Many prominent corporations and law offices are found along Wilshire Boulevard, one of the busiest east-west transit corridors across the city.

Property Ratings at The Glendon Apartments in Westwood
Clean, bright, spacious, safe and friendly! The leasing staff was very helpful getting the lease going fast last February, showing the available places. The management Kate & also Dawn were both extremely helpful with helping us recently. Very safe area with secured parking too. Next to grocery, restaurant and Target conveniently across the street. Grounds kept clean, pool, and spacious apartment with laundry and gyms. Professional and kind! Highly recommend
The Apartment complex is no longer taking care of its amenities. The beautiful picture of the pool shows 15 lounge chairs and 7 umbrellas. The pool currently has 4 lounge chairs and three umbrellas. The exterior has cracks all over it. Not sure what is going on with management, but not a good time to get a new apartment here.
Worst customer service and manager, stay away. Just the Worst!
For the first time I was shown some apartment with a beautiful view and the manager promised that my apartment would be similar when I move. When I paid the deposit and took the keys, another manager provided the apartment with a terrible smell and a view of the walls...I asked to change my apartment but the manager said that all the issues to deal with him. On this day, he had a day off. I asked to change my apartment again and I was offered other apartments for a higher price... After that, I asked the manager to return my money..They didn't return my money and they spent my time..The people who work for Douglas Emmett are very unkind to customers. They have a very terrible service.. I've never met people who hate their work and their customers like that..
Today I got a phone call from collector about collection debt, I moved a year ago and I pid whatever they’ve asked for, they didn’t return my deposit, also they’ve done this in order to mess my credit score. Stay away from this building!

Hello, I'd like to look into your account, however, I would need to know your name so that I can investigate the records. Please contact me at glevy @ douglasemmett.com so that we can look into this further. Gail Levy Marketing Director Douglas Emmett
Cockroach infestation were in my daughter's apartment, 8 other units and in the common hallway corridors. It took 2 months to get rid of the cockroaches because the technician treated them once a week at most. This was confirmed by the property manager today! The 1041 building is not maintained, and trash is left outside of temporary residents' apartments for several days at a time, creating filthy, and unsanitary living conditions. There is no final move-out inspection and no move out report provided or available and despite my daughter's apartment being left in pristine condition, move out fees included bogus charges including full painting and new carpet. The property manager has failed to provide a move-out report, photos and fails to return phone calls and was reached only after multiple calls. SAVE YOURSELF! MOVE ANYWHERE ELSE!
Management keeps on requesting hidden fees while the building is full of negligence. It’s very dirty and flies everywhere! It’s been almost 6 months in pandemy, they’ve just started to clean the hallways put hand sanitizers. Looking forward to leave when my lease ends.
The management doesn't take good care of the building. In common spaces, walls, carpets, paints are very dirty and old. Flies, bugs everywhere and they somehow enter inside! Often, homeless people sleeps in pool area. All emergency exits smells urine. Thin walls. You can clearly smell what below neighbor cooks. It doesn't deserve it's price.
Just moved in 2 weeks ago. This is the perfect place in the perfect location. I moved into a newly remodeled apartment. Some things still needed to be taken care of (that's normal with anything brand new) and the maintenance team here gets a A+. Took care of it immediately, before I even unpacked. The leasing team - Isaac was fantastic. I would recommend the Glendon.
This new douglas emmett management is very poor, the only thing they know is to keep charging with hidden fees. They send the rent statement on the 1st, if you don't pay by 1st, $100 late fee applies:)))) What a joke...
Cons: On top of the extremely expensive rent, you are also charged a hefty amount for trash, water, and sewage each month. Will hear ambulances all day. Faulty smoke detectors. HUGE Cockroaches in the summer. Inattentive management. Try to overcharge you when moving out for cleaning fees ON TOP of your security deposit. Pros: Location is amazing. Clean gym and spa area. Maintenance is always extremely nice and timely.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We think that the location is pretty amazing too. Unfortunately, being so close to UCLA Medical Center, we do hear our fair share of sirens... Our maintenance team works very hard to ensure that the property is kept in prime condition and we will definitely pass on your compliments to them.
Filippo was wonderful. We just needed a furnished place to stay short term after my husband’s transplant. It is not a cheap place to stay but is a beautiful place to recover from a difficult surgery. Close to everything you need, including UCLA. Filippo was very attentive to our needs & really seemed to care. After reading some previous reviews, maybe they are improving their customer service. It was great for us in a time of uncertainty. Thanks again, Filippo!
I do NOT recommend living here. For the price you pay, the service is very bad. The staff are "nice" but not very helpful. It does not feel like they genuinely care about your concerns, especially the leasing manager (Sierra). Half the time I dealt with management, I had to wait at least 15 minutes for someone available and I could tell they were disinterested in helping me. Even though my apartment complex was "newly renovated," there were a lot of issues upon closer inspection. If you're going to live here, do a super thorough look of the apartment - open every window, turn on every faucet, check for any holes, etc.. Do not let them rush you. I admit it is a nice complex and the inside of the apartment looks good, but the service is not worth the high price. For the price that you are paying for this complex, the service and management is poor. You are definitely not getting the full worth of what you are paying. They are not very accommodating. Management is also fairly new to the complex (I believe they came in early 2017) and they clearly don't know the apartment or parking complex. Make sure that you're being shown your apartment unit, and if you're being shown a "model" unit instead, you can bet that this unit is much brighter and nicer than your unit. They won't show you the garage for "safety" reasons, and you'll be stuck with a spot # that you might hate, which they will not change for you (despite what they may say before you sign the contract). Also, the price that it states online on their website, is at least a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the actual rent they will offer you in person. The apartment complex is open, so the floor to the hallways are wet when it rains and you can very clearly hear the surrounding environment - all the honking, sirens, screaming on the street, children running up and down the halls, etc.. The maintenance workers and security staff are nice though. Be aware, though, that on top of rent you are also charged other service fees, like trash and the water bill. The water bill is not based on how much water you personally use in the unit, but based on your whole complex divided evenly. Once my contract was up, I definitely did not renew. The only positive about this place is the location. Yes, it is a good location, but if you really take the time to look at the surrounding areas, there are other apartment complexes much cheaper and also newly renovated.

i went to glendon to look at a 1 bedroom apartment on mid august. the service is horrible. the man who sit in front of door is arrogant. he not even look at me but keep type the email and answer the phone call. when i asked for help inside the leasing office. guess what, same manner as the man who sit in front of door. this is the worst sales agent i ever met. they treat customer rude and unhelpful. good luck to everyone who lives here.

There are some problems with the building but the most frustrating issue is that the new property manager does not follow up with concerns and does not return calls or emails. If you live here you will be on your own. For the price you pay, you can find much better apartments in this neighborhood.
Property Manager at The Glendon Apartments in Westwood, Responded To This Review

All the great reviews are from when the building was under a different management. The new management has serious issues. They are the most arrogant, rude and unresponsive. The building is not well maintained anymore. There is garbage everywhere. If you care about cleanness and getting treated with respect, for the price you pay to live here, I would not recommend this property.
Property Manager at The Glendon Apartments in Westwood, Responded To This Review
Dear Anonymous, We are aware that the Glendon has been through a change of hands and it is our mission to address all areas of concern brought to us by our residents and guests. We have been working with Valet Waste and are re-evaluating our processes. We have also addressed the need for inspecting the common areas daily and we have even hired additional staff to assist us with ensuring all common areas are cleaned daily. We realize that you wrote this review on June 6, so We hope you have seen improvement since then. If not, We would only ask that you call or drop in our office if you see something out of sorts so that we can address it for you and others. Thank you for being a resident and we hope your experience with us improve. Best, Heidi
Neighborhood are excellent and the Palazzo is well maintain the place. A pool, excise room, and the office staffs are friendly. I wish I can live here forever. Thank you. Gary Parks
Great neighborhood, all great restaurants, trendy places, Banks, short walking for everything. Very convenience for grocery shipping (Trader Joe's). Wonderful feeling for everything. Kathy Cjox
We moved from The Palazzo East to The Palazzo West. We have been here about almost 2 months now and are liking it much better than the East property. I would not recommend living at Palazzo East. The property manager at East does not follow up with concerns and does not return calls or emails. The West property has been much better! The property manager called me about a month after moving in to see how things were going and if we needed anything. The grounds are clean and maintenance is quick and friendly. They have been very responsive to any issues we've had. The biggest issue we've had is with our cell phones. We are in the first floor and face a courtyard and have no reception in our apt. I have an iPhone 6 and it will ring, but I have to go to my patio to answer it. My husband has a 5 and his doesn't even ring. Both of us have Verizon. I would reccomed this property. It's not perfect, but the neighborhood is great and this propery offered all the amenities I was looking for (Pool, spa, gym, dog friendly, in unit W/D, central air, guest parking).
While the complex is luxury with great amenities, if you live in the west building, there is only 1 elevator lobby, when it would be more efficient for there to be 2 elevator lobbies to handle the pedestrian traffic. The waste valet is convenient, but other tenants take advantage of the service and leave loose garbage bags in the hallway when it would be common courtesy to take it to the trash room.
The apartments and common spaces are modern, and in the process of being improved to reflect contemporary design. The facilities of the health spa are fantastic, but could use spa attendants during peak hours. Its conveniently located in Westwood Village above Trader Joe's, Rite Aid, and Target. Its just minutes from shopping in Beverly Hills and Century City.
