Property Ratings at The Greens at Centennial Campus
Studio was on my top of the list for moving into in a couple months. Went up $200+ overnight. You will never see me there now. Landlord corruption continues…
Lived here for 15 months. Friendly staff and maintenance who always responded very quickly. Very quiet except when people are in the courtyard, but never heard people out there past 10:30 pm (quiet hours start at 10). Great location being close to campus and I-40. Decent sized bathroom for a studio. Water is noticeably hard so I got a softener shower head. The main entrance from Main Campus Dr is very narrow though, and almost every day there was one huge pickup truck that parked at the bottom of that curve and created a huge blind spot. I wish they would turn those spaces by the pool into compact only. Never had a problem with the side entrance off Initiative Way though. Occasionally people would speed within the property, but management was always receptive to complaints and prompt with emailing warnings about community policy in response to complaints. Several parking spaces also pretty narrow, except for the angled ones down the center of the property. Cell reception in building 521 was poor but the Wi-Fi worked well enough that it was rarely an issue. Submitting maintenance requests and other parts of the tenant portal was very easy. Community message board was very active & helpful in selling/acquiring stuff for free/low price. Rent for the next lease was only going to increase by $35, and would've taken it if I didn't need to move closer to work. Would definitely live here again!
We called this apartment home for 5 years, and we absolutely loved it. The leasing agents are really nice and always helpful. The location is perfect, especially if you have pets, as it’s very dog-friendly with trails nearby. As dog owners with two pups, this was a huge plus for us. The proximity to campus is incredibly convenient, and despite being so close, the area is remarkably quiet. The apartments themselves are well-maintained, making it a comfortable and pleasant place to live. Highly recommend!
Great place to live in every way. Serene environment, and close to lots of green spaces, lakes, a park, and stores/farmers market either moderate walking distance away or a very short drive away. Spacious apartments and lots of amenities.
I really wanted to like this place. I toured the apartments twice and applied to lease a unit. I was accepted, and the leasing agent communicated that the unit was mine. Unfortunately, after sending my deposits and reading through the leasing agreement, I got a call from the leasing agent that the unit was no longer available - the current resident decided they wanted to stay, after providing a notice to vacate, and The Greens choose to keep the unit for the current resident. They showed no empathy throughout this unfortunate situation and refused to offer a similar unit at the rate that I supposedly "locked in" when I applied. In addition to showing no empathy, the leasing agent was incredibly pushy and tried to get me to make a decision to lease a more expensive unit by the end of the day that they delivered the news.
I absolutely loved my time living at The Greens. I moved in right when the complex opened in March 2014 and moved out in March 2019. During my five years there, I never had any problems with any of the staff or any major problems with my apartment/the facilities. The apartments are impeccably kept. When you have a maintenance issue, you submit an online request through the resident portal and someone quickly repairs it. I never had any issue in my apartment last more than one day. Sometimes things can be a little loud in the apartment, but no more than any other complex I have lived in. I heard my neighbors above me, and my neighbor below me came up to let me know he heard me, too. Most residents are courteous about noise. I loved every person in the office. From signing my lease, to picking up too many Amazon packages, and to saying goodbye after five years, I always had pleasant visits with everyone in the office. Further, everyone was always helpful and had answers to all my many questions. There are fun resident events throughout the year, sometimes breakfast on the go or a Christmas present wrapping event. As for the common areas, the "caves" in each building are nice places with a lot of fun games and pleasant of cooking spaces. There are reasonable quiet hours for the areas, so there isn't usually a noise problem. However, and this is my only con about the common area, is that my apartment balcony opened to the "cave" and sometimes the noise would echo up and I could hear it loudly in my apartment. About five times, residents would use these later than the set hours. However, The Greens was great about enforcing the rules in these areas & keeping things quiet and clean. When moving out, I thought The Greens was fair about any repair costs. They were very considerate of what was just normal wear & tear after 5 years and what I should have to pay for, and I did not feel overcharged. The location is great. I went to school and worked downtown and had an easy commute. It is close to 40, downtown, and Western Boulevard (which you can take to 440). While being close to everything, there is still little traffic and tons of green space. It is a quick walk to the Farmers Market, Lake Raleigh, & Hunt Library. I cannot recommend this complex emphatically enough. It is my favorite place I've ever lived and a great place to call home while in Raleigh.
We love The Greens! Despite its close proximity to NCSU, you won't find a lot of rowdy college kids here. The apartments are so so so nice - granite countertops, hardwood laminate, wood cabinets - that it really feels like a home. The staff is so friendly and helpful! By far the nicest apartment I have ever lived in.
I moved into The Greens May of 2014 into the A1 floor plan, and I've loved it here (resigned for a second term). I signed shortly after graduating from NC State, and of all of my friends' apartments elsewhere, I'd say this is one the best places in Raleigh between space & rent. It is close to downtown - generally a $7 Uber. Although, as I write this, I-40 is under some annoying construction work, the access to I-40 is wonderful (exit 297). I work in RTP, and my commute is no longer than 30 minutes. There are many alternative ways to get to RTP as well if you're not in the mood to battle I-40. The gym here is great - a good quantity of machines, and they're all new. My favorite amenity is the saltwater pool. There are two downsides to living here: 1) Cell service is an issue. My apartment is courtyard-facing, and I have terrible reception. Calls drop a lot of the time, and it's hard to get texts out. You'll eventually learn the spots that work within your apartment. 2) You're limited to using Time Warner Cable. I wish I could opt into the Google Fiber bandwagon as they come to Raleigh, but we're stuck with them. Optimistically, at least it's not Comcast (ha!).
