Starkville is what you’d call a college town for sure. Home to a large student population focused on academics and sports, this city also houses numerous apartments near cool amenities. As you probably guessed, the gem of Starkville is Mississippi State University which is surrounded by bars, mom-and-pop eateries, boutiques, and bookstores.
When you live in Starkville, you’ll notice when the entire community gears up for game day. “Hail State” is a common greeting that echoes throughout the town, and it’s safe to say that a great deal of the community revolves around college sports like football. Locals, alumni, and visitors alike are often tailgating before a big game. On game day eves, New South Weekends in Starkville offer tons of activities from wine tastings to block parties.
MSU and surrounding neighborhoods have a lot of art and culture offerings. The Lyceum Series, presented by the university, features concerts, dance recitals, and musicals throughout the year.

Property Ratings at The Grove Apartments
I moved here end of July beginning of august it took management multiple calls and complaints to come and fix my air and it didn’t get fixed until I asked about moving out and the neighbor upstairs run all through the night while the dogs bark at all times of the night and the spiders act like roommates no matter come much you clean and spray
Do NOT waste your money or time trying to work with this business. I have contacted them countless times and received no response from the business. This complex required $180 total for application fees for my roommate, 2 guarantors, and myself. After paying the $180 application fee, we were told to wait for approval then we would need to pay a $300 fee to secure the unit. After receiving all of our financial information and application payments, the leasing manager has neglected to respond to any of our communications. I have emailed and called the office multiple times in an effort to find out what is causing a delay in approval. At this point, I have still yet to receive any communication or updates from the leasing manager. This complex was just recently bought by new management, and I was hoping that meant the management would provide a good experience. I was incredibly wrong. Please save yourself from spending money and time on this horrible management provided. I communicated with the leasing manager multiple times prior to paying the application fees, and I was under the impression that the leasing management was professional and timely. This was until they received my application fee and financial documentation. The grove apartments were going to be my new home and now it is only the home to a management team that has no concern for time management and professionalism.
My family and I have lived here for a little over 2 years now and we have been happy here. Our 1st year we had a few problems, but they are under all new management and owners now and things are improving! The maintenance is quick and reliable... Some previous review said something about nails and wood on the side of the road, they were repairing roofs, so what do you expect. The rent is reasonable. If you are on a Days Inn budget, you shouldn't expect the Hilton... The management is super nice and helpful!
The Grove is very safe and quiet place to live. They are under new management and are doing a lot with the place. They are so helpful and make it an awesome place to live
My daughter and her roommate lived at the Grove for two years and had a horrible time with the management staff. They were accused of not paying rent, and when they investigated the situation, it was discovered (after being threatened with eviction) that their rent was 1) applied to a staff member’s account; 2) never applied at all even though the girls were able to produce their receipts; or 3) double applied to a month’s bill and not credited to their account! It took almost a year to clear up the situation with both girls being subpoenaed into court, attorney involvement, and time spent talking to people who didn’t have any interest in helping because upper management is in Arkansas. If you want to live here, make sure you keep copies of every communication in writing! And don’t lose your receipts! They are golden!
this place is very dirty and the parking lot is awful. potholes everywhere. When I got my key the apartment had never been cleaned and I told management, who responded it was clean enough when they did a walk thru and they weren't gonna do anything more. there was still 2 dirty dishes in the kitchen cabinets and used tissues in the bathroom.
I have lived in this set of apartments for almost 8 full years. It is a very quiet area, the rent is affordable and I love the landlord and our maintenance man. It is very close to MSU and all stores since it is in the middle of town. Close to the high school, park, and Travis Oulaw Center so it gives you many options of things you can do easily by walking and not driving. I am in a townhouse and the size is great with an office and basically 2 full baths. I love it!
The Grove Apartments are great for low-income families and college students. The apartments themselves are pretty basic on the inside but they serve their purpose as a cozy home. The Grove is pet friendly, so you might end up next to someone who has a barking dog. The internet provided by the apartment is mediocre at best, so I recommend buying your own. The environment is very friendly and safe. Very little noise, which is why it is great for a studying college student. The best part is the rent prices, they are very affordable and the Grove doesn't charge by the room like many apartments in Starkville. It's not a forever apartment, but it is great for starting out and trying to get back on your feet.
