Property Ratings at The Hallie
Please heed my warnings, I have never experienced a more poorly run and operated building than the Hallie in my roughly 10 years of renting. Our unit flooded 3 times during our 11 month lease (none of the flood incidents were caused by us). Two of the floods were caused by rainfall, and one was caused by the tenant living above us who clogged their toilet. Speaking with other tenants in the building, many of them have had their own flood-related issues in their apartments and similar issues with management's lackluster response to remedy their situations. We have been dealing with flood-related issues in our unit for 120+ days, and management has found many ways to make our bad situation worse. I constantly have to reach out, remind, or escalate issues to get work done on our unit. In one of the flood incidents we had, management simply forgot they were working on our unit. I had to remind them (after a week) that we didn't have carpet, to pick up their dryer fan, and fix a hole they punched in my wall (to dry out our unit).
We lived there a couple of years ago but it was so bad I feel i have to let prospective tenants know. The management is terrible, the tenants are rude, it's very loud. The places are very cheaply made but they act like it's a premium place to live. We actually had human waste fall on our car in the garage a couple of times. Maintenance apparently saw what happened and just put a tarp over our car WITHOUT telling us. We just found our car like that. It was HORRIFIC. The management paid to detail our cars, but this was still unacceptable. No one really seemed to think it was that bad of of thing to happen to us - and our two small children who nearly touched the waste. We moved out soon there after.
Lived here for two years, and so happy to be leaving. The walls are paper thin. You can hear everything everyone is doing at all times. We should have listened to reviews before moving in. The property management was by far THE WORST we've ever experienced. We only had to interact with the leasing office a handful of times in two years, and each time was a nightmare. Often you get someone incredibly rude, or someone who gives you false/inaccurate information. You have to ask to speak to the manager to get any kind of definitive response, and he doesn't seem to take a lot of accountability as to how poorly his office runs. We complained a few times about how rude the person who answered the phone was and how rude the maintenance supervisor was during our move-out inspection and the property manager did essentially nothing to help the situation. I DO NOT recommend renting from here, especially for the price point they are offering. Also, raised our rent each year we lived there. Not worth it.
Lauren Carrillo, a leasing agent, sent my wife and I a document to e-sign so that they could put a hold on an apartment for us. We decided not to sign and told them specifically not to hold the apartment, and THEY CHARGED US THE $200 HOLDING FEE ANYWAY. I deal with contracts daily and this is HIGHLY ILLEGAL. THE CHARGES HAVE BEEN DISPUTED THROUGH OUR CARD COMPANY AND IF THEY DO NOT REMOVE THE CHARGE I WILL SUE.
I have lived here since January of 2014, my husband and I moved in due to Pasadena being reletively safe and a good midpoint between our jobs. When me first moved in the apartment was pretty average looking.. the hallways were ugly brown. Since then the apartments have gone through a SIGNIFICANT visual upgrade they look very modern. My fave is the fireplace in the apt. Management is subpar. The current manager does NOT communicate and is VERY unfriendly (this is a consensus with the majority of neighbors who Ive spoken with). Her staff isnt too bad, but they are ruded by cruela de'vil. Neighbors are nice and friendly.. its generlly pretty quiet!
