Life in College Station pretty much revolves around Texas A&M University. The student body accounts for 60,000 people in a city of just over 100,000, and the university employs roughly 15% of the non-student population. The cultural impact of the university is tremendous, from the on-campus art, scholarly resources, and architecture to the thriving food, nightlife, and music scenes around town, and of course the exuberant Texas Aggies fandom.
Apartments and rental houses are available to suit every budget, from exceedingly affordable student rentals to more upscale homes. Parents will appreciate the vest selection of highly-rated public schools, and easy access to city parks gives everyone the opportunity to get out and enjoy the fresh air.

Property Manager at The Halston, Responded To This Review
Hello, we are so glad you find our community friendly and welcoming! Creating a warm and inviting environment for our residents has always been our goal, and we are thrilled this has been your experience.
Today June 23,2023 my son and his wife was to get the keys at 10am this morning. They drive 2 hrs to pick up keys only to be told the apartment wasn't ready and didn't know when it would be. Not only that but was told they would have a certain apartment # when they applied only that apartment was given to someone who was supposed to get the apartment my son was supposed to get today. They were told that the A/C was not fixed and the keys were not ready. The office did not call in advance to let my son know. Not only that my son and his wife have to be out of the place they are in now by July 1,2023. This place is not worth renting and I wish they could move into a different complex.
Property Manager at The Halston, Responded To This Review
We are grateful your son and his wife chose us as their new apartment home. However, we are deeply sorry if there was a miscommunication regarding their move-in date. We are eager to make things right and address any questions they have. When convenient, please have your son call or visit our office so we may speak in greater detail.
We have lived here for almost a year at this point and nothing has gotten better. The main issue we have is that the AC unit for the townhomes is too small to provide adequate cooling for the units. Maintenance has been great and tried to do everything they can to fix the problem (gave us a window unit, cleaned vents, weather stripped door, etc.) but management wont do a single thing. They even told us when we moved in the unit was too small, but they refuse to replace it. Additionally, we had other issues with trying to fix our lease and contact management, but they are hardly ever in the office and never respond to voicemails. I do not recommend living here, nothing is up to date - they need to replace are appliances and they pool is never clean.

Hello, it is heartening to hear that our maintenance team has done everything they can to assist you. However, we are sorry if your AC concerns persist, and we would appreciate an opportunity to speak with you directly to learn how to uplift your living experience effectively. When you have a moment to talk, please call or stop by our office.
DON’T RENT HERE! DO NOT RENT UNIT 205 MC. The wifi does not work in the unit. (In case they change the apartment number, this is the street-facing corner unit at the end of Winter Park road). I have not had functioning wifi since I moved in 13 months ago. During this time I have gone back in forth between the management and Optimum dozens of times. Management keeps trying to kick the issue off to Optimum, but the wifi issue requires a hardware replacement in the unit, so its the management’s responsibility to replace the hardware in my unit. They’ll do anything but actually spend some money to get my unit functioning wifi, or really to do anything helpful at all. The management is in violation its lease, clearly, as I have not had functioning wifi since moving in. Find some place else to live. This apartment is unorganized and doesn’t care about its tenants

Hello, please accept our sincere apologies if your wifi issues have not been addressed. What you have described is certainly not how we aim to serve our residents, and we are eager to turn your experience around. At your earliest convenience, please call or stop by our office so we may assist you. Thank you for your time, and we look forward to hearing from you.
From June through August, I have filed multiple maintenance requests, called the front office many times, left many messages, and have talked to the ladies in the office (including Amanda, the manager) all just to get my air conditioner fixed (during the summer). It has never been fixed. The maintenance requests would be closed out and marked completed, but nothing ever changed with my A/C. I was told a couple times that someone would go into my apartment to look at and fix the A/C unit then I would be updated with what was discovered to be the problem and how it would be fixed. There was never any follow up or change in my A/C. After almost three months of poor air conditioning, no follow ups, and the worst customer service experience I have ever had I walked into the office and handed them a letter that I was going to file a claim and report them unless my A/C was fixed and someone would contact me. Included in the letter was proof of my constant efforts at trying to contact them. STILL no one reached out. This is a huge issue and something that needs to be addressed immediately. I have been more than patient with this, but three months is much too long.
Property Manager at The Halston, Responded To This Review
Hello Jeremy, we strive to respond to all maintenance requests in a timely manner, and we are sorry if you have experienced anything less. What you have described is not in line with our high standards, and we are eager to turn your experience around. At your earliest convenience, please call or stop by our office so we may discuss this further and involve our maintenance team.
The maintenance does not get to you in a timely manner. The trash areas are filthy. You can never count on going swimming the pools are always filthy or broke. Office employees do not care when you have a issue.
Do not move in here! They kept me without AC for a week. This was during New Years. I would call everyday and no action/solution was taken. Then they fixed it. I moved In back in July and the main kitchen light fixture has never worked. I have placed work orders (July, October, December, March) even have gone in person. No action to address this. I walked up to the main office last week( Monday) asked for them to have them fix by (Friday) and the light fixture is still not working. Save your time and find somewhere else to move in.
Too expensive for the quality of apartment. None of the room doors had locks and didn’t close all the way. Maintenance is kinda terrible. But other than that it’s okay.
This is a beautiful complex and a great place to live! The amenities are fantastic and they are continuing to make upgrades. Everyone in the leasing office were so nice and helpful. I defiantly recommend anyone looking for an apartment in College Station to check it out. Call ahead and ask for Yhona, she did such a great job answering my questions and making me super comfortable with the entire process! 10 out of 10!
I’m a student and there’s nothing I love more than coming home and being able to study in peace at my apartment. Also, I love the new upgrades!
Kind and caring staff, especially Mrs. Boston. Staff returns phone calls in a timely fashion. Very nice and clean apartments, maintenance is always there so there is no wait to fix problems. I feel very safe and at home when I visit my child. Thank you Laurel Ridge staff for making our home comfortable. By the way greats rate. Diane Fronduto
I was new to town and needed a quick change over. I was definitely happy with the staff and their information on the community and what they showed me was available. Unfortunately, it didn't fit my timeline and I was unable to rent in this complex and ended up in a complex that I am unhappy in and can't wait to get out of. I have driven by and seen the improvements and I will be much wiser and patient in the future!
I absolutely LOVE living here, I've been here for about 1 year and have recently renewed my lease. Laurel Ridge has been the best place I've lived in College Station. The prices are 100% affordable, every time I've had a maintenance problem they fixed it within the day regardless of how small. I've only ever had one problem and it was my first day of moving in a mix up happened and I was given the wrong apartment, however the property manager was amazing and fixed everything within the hour and even had the maintenance staff assist me with moving my furniture. If you are saving up for a house (like myself), a graduate student, or even a family looking for an affordable, friendly place to live I STRONGLY recommend Laurel Ridge .
Moved in August 2020. September 1st, my living room ceiling started leaking. It's been 26 days, and the problem still isn't solved and they've patched and repatched the same parts over and over but without fixing the problem. Also on move in day, water heater was arcing from its power source+, sliding door didn't lock. Patchy paint, nail holes, hooks from previous tenant. The counter tops weren't even connected to the cabinets! I had to put in 2 work orders for that alone!! And I still don't think all the counters are actually attached. Multiple countertops seem to only be attached to cabinets because the sinks are holding them in place. I couldn't even submit maintenance requests the first few days. Also, prior to moving in, they sent me all the wrong address information, so I couldn't set up my utilities or insurance until that was fixed. Also, my bedroom usually runs about 6-8 degrees hotter than the rest of the house, even with doors open and fans running. When I submitted the work order, all I got was "Opened the vents" which I had alredy done. the problem wasn't the vents but that the AC blows about 10% out of that vent compared to the others around the house.

Will never deliver what's promised. Gave us an unclean apartment when we moved in with lots of issues. Totally rips us on rates. Don't trust a word they say.

Where do I start.... Many features about the unit were highly embellished. We were promised a reasonably energy efficient unit only to find our first energy bill to be over $400. The AC was on its last leg but not yet entirely broken, so no repairs were done. The unit was finally repaired months later when it eventually shut down and began smoking. The apartment was described as having a full sized pantry, as well as a small closet under the staircase. Turns out that the “full sized pantry” is actually the water closet. When we asked about this we were told that the small closet under the stairs is our actual pantry. Not a huge deal, but our storage space is a bit less than we anticipated. From the moment we moved in we’ve been fighting an uphill battle against a nasty bug infestation. No matter how clean the partment is, or how much repellent we line the unit with, there’s always some sort of annoying critter running around. The problem seems to be building wide and the best we can do is manage our own space. The unit was hailed as having a lot of modern renovations. The vinyl flooring is a nice touch and the carpets aren’t in bad condition. The kitchen and bathroom have new(er) cabinets and they look good on the surface. Behind the scenes, the holes cut out for the plumbing and electrical are huge and lead straight into the depths of the infested building. Not ok, especially in the kitchen where we need to store food. We took it upon ourselves to use expanding foam to seal the openings we could reach to try to lessen the bug issue. It just seems that the renovations were installed in a rush and no attention was payed to details. The maintenance team is nice but they seem heavily understaffed to accommodate so many buildings. The host of problems we needed fixed ranging from broken shelves in the fridge, a missing laundry closet door, and a nonfunctional light fixture were fixed only after we made work orders for them. All issues that one would hope would be caught when the units were inspected by management. The attempts by management to be engaging and offer events to make residents feel like their in a community are great and I recognize that they take effort to accomplish. But management needs to focus more on managing the property before spending energy on advertisement and social events. Their intentions are good but their priorities are not in the right place. Unfortunately I can’t recomend living here to anyone.

We have been here for a few months and considering where we lived before, this place is much better. Can't really complain. For being in college station and pay per unit and not room you can not beat the price and you it's worth it in my opinion. They do get to maintence request pretty well just like any other apartment, it may be a little slower than wanted but again, you get what you pay for. At least it gets done. Our parking is right in front of our door so that's nice and you get free cable and wifi and never had an issue with either. As well as washer and dryer in unit which work great !

Hi there, thank you so much for your positive comments about Laurel Ridge Apartments! Thank you, and have a fantastic day!
Location good though. Convenient for commuting to school since near bus stops and near a variety of restaurants. Not worth the price you're paying for. Outdated interior and exterior, a lot of mechanical malfunctions like the AC and hot water, and maintenance takes a while to come and repair. Slow wifi. Old carpets they won't replace. Trash everywhere. New management more accommodating than before so that's a plus. Overall, livable but mediocre quality. Can do better.

Lied to about a ton of features before moving in. Came "home" to a bug infested, dirty, old, energy inefficient, falling apart unit. Overpriced for what you get. Staff seems like they dont care. Its just...... fine. Not the absolute worst. but there are much better options. Complained about the AC running horribly and racking up a $400 bill, didn't seem to care. Took it actually smoking and breaking for them to fix it. Wanted to leave after the first month of living here. wouldn't recommend.

Definitely not worth what you pay. At night there's always someone fighting in the parking lot and people yelling at each other. Our AC constantly breaks and maintenance takes at least a week to even attempt to fix it right. No one seems to care about the tenants, as long as they're getting their money. I would get home and the apartment would be 90 degrees and the only response I could get was that they'd put a maintenance request in.

There should be an option for 0 stars just for this apartment complex. Do not live here, do not let anyone you know live here. The apartments are in terrible shape, siding rotting, a/c systems old and inefficient, wifi goes out consistently throughout each day, water damage throughout, washer and dryers old and in terrible shape, old carpeting, terrible parking areas and run down throughout (including the amenities). Normally, as college students, you would deal with this because a place is less expensive, conveniently located and/or good management. The cost was way too high for the square footage. The location was good. The management is beyond subpar. They are nonexistent, never there, don't return calls or emails and are rude and condescending. They apparently changed management recently but from reading the previous reviews it appears that the newer management is just as awful and just as lacking in prerequisite customer service skills. This is not a place for anyone to live, no matter how desperate or broke you are, stay away.

Such an unprofessional experience! They told me and my wife who is 38 weeks pregnant that we were approved and had us sign our lease and said everything is good to go to move in! So we drove 4 hours down to corpus to pack up are storage unit just to have them call us and tell us we are not approved!! Can you believe that crap? I highly recommend you stay away from this place!

Hi I'm Kaleb, I have been living at the Laurel Ridge Apartments for three years now, and it's been heavenly. The apartment office workers are all friendly and have managed all of my needs with haste and expertise, without making it hard for me. The property apartments are great for their price, and come with loads of amenities to keep you entertained. The staff also always have fun activities that keep us tenants involved. Overall my stay here has been a most pleasant experience, and I would recommend living here to anyone that is looking for a place to live.

I liked these apartments at first, but now I'm very angry. I moved my daughter out in May and we worked really hard at cleaning the apt and patching nail holes so as not to be charged any cleaning fees. My daughter turned in her key on a Sunday afternoon before the office closed and asked for a walk-thru ( I was waiting outside with the trailer full of furniture, including her bed). She was told they couldn't do it right then but they would do it as soon as they could. Shame on me for not taking pictures I guess; because I just got a bill for mattress removal $63??? I called and they said they have pictures. Apparently the subleased tenant in the other room moved somebody else in there after we left. Since there are not locks on the bedroom doors we had no control over what happened after we moved out, that is why we turned in the key and signed a paper saying we were vacating the premises for good. The staff is very rude.
