The mix of cosmopolitan flair and low-key atmosphere once led LA Weekly to speculate that North Hollywood just might be the best place to live in the Los Angeles area. This community has become popular among artists, writers, filmmakers, and actors seeking balance between easy access to Hollywood and a quieter, more suburban home environment.
The local food and bar scene is robust, and the bohemian vibe of the NoHo Art District attracts all manner of offbeat creative types. Uncommon among Los Angeles-area communities, much of North Hollywood is quite walkable, with food, drinks, galleries, and performance venues just a leisurely stroll away from one another. Thankfully for renters, all of the perks of this location come at a relatively affordable cost. Most renters pay an average of $2,282 to rent in North Hollywood, about $500 less than the Los Angeles average.

Property Ratings at The Hesby
Luxury prices for subpar living. Service requests take weeks. Staff uses handicap parking as employee parking. Thin walls. Broken and missing gym equipment. No security. Gates don't lock. Staff could care less about any complaints.
I recently left this property-This complex allows their tenants to AirBnb their units; If you don't mind transients coming and going all days of the night, then you won't mind The Hesby. The garage has no cameras other than to monitor the entrances and exits. Security patrol, while prompt, never does anything to fix the problem. The management makes it clear that they don't care enough to resolve the problems as I wrote multiple emails. The dog owners let their animals pee in the elevator-which is usually broken anyhow. The trash chute will back up almost weekly so you can't use it. And don't expect much sleep on the weekends-this place is always loud. I moved four times when I was in L.A., and this by far is the worst!
This complex condones AirBnb among it’s tenants, so beware of people trying to sneak in behind you at the gate or harassing you to use your key fob for the elevator to let them up. The cleaning staff tries their best, but the residents-or whomever-are slobs. On the Morrison street side, the front step is usually covered in dog pee-and I think it’s from the balcony directly overhanging the stoop. Don’t expect the staff to be very helpful; although most of them are very nice, when I asked about other residents cleaning off the trash on their balconies, I got a canned email response from Christina who said they were doing the “best they could.” On most weekends, the pool and common area is taken over and they usually aren’t tenants. Good luck getting a grill. The fire alarm goes off an awful lot here-especially around 3 a.m. For what you pay here, you could probably get a much nicer albeit smaller complex that doesn’t have these problems. This by far the worst Equity property I’ve lived in and I’ve been in three since being in L.A. As I write this, the Morrison street elevator is down for the third time in less than 60 days and won’t be fixed until Monday. On the good side, the security staff is always quick to respond to barking dog complaints. Most of the amenities-when you’re able to use them-are kept clean. The pool area just got a makeover. All in all, not a good place to live for what you’re gonna have to pay.
Horrible apartment complex. Apathetic staff. The neighbors are loud and always in your business. The apartment is unsafe and there have been several deadly shootings in the last year. Not to mention the class action lawsuit Equity Residential is in for all the extra fees they like to add. The amenities are crowded or closed for maintenance frequently. Random fire alarms waking you up monthly. I can only imagine the stories of residents who have lived here longer than I did. All these positive reviews and I can only assume they are written by people employed by Equity Residential. Go anywhere else.
The Hesby is the perfect apartment complex for young adults in the mid-20's to early 30's. It's like living in a trendy hotel!
amazing apartment, great pool, outdoor theater area, rec room, nice little gym, and coffee for residents is a plus. a lot of events occur by the pool which is great, sometimes noisy but still great. and the units itself are luxury. the hesby is a winner in my book
The Hesby is a luxury, secure access complex with great amenities, tucked in the arts district of North Hollywood. The best part of living here is the zero edge pool and lounge couches. The fitness center is 24/7 and has just about everything you need for a great workout. Pets are welcomed with open arms at the Hesby! I am a huge fan of my full-size, stainless-steal kitchen with an oversized sink. Even with a gorgeous kitchen, I love having walking access to some of the best restaurants and coffee shops in town! Everything you need is at your fingertips living at the Hesby. This is the perfect building for young professionals!
Great property, amazing amenities, beautiful interiors. Neighborhood just ok. Sketchy people living in complex. Constant weed smoking. $50/mo pet deposit unreasonable.
So many extras in this apartment because it was built when it was meant to be your home. Wood burning large white brick floor to ceiling fireplace, original hardwood floors, large completely enclosed patio. The big kitchen has retro tile counters, tons of cupboards, and opens to the separate dining room. It's an end unit with windows, windows, windows in every room. The laundry room is on the other side of the one connecting wall, so it is like your own private facility. Large private yard as well. Small complex in a residential neighborhood with on site owners . Great tenants, friendly like neighbors used to be. Convenient to everything from restaurants to shopping to commuting.
The stellar leasing staff and quick maintenance response times have impressed me over the couple of years I've been here. Even the fluke pipe break and five-story flooding recently (a surprise in such a nice property) has been handled beautifully, and by the time you read this, we'll have new drywall as far as the eye can see. As the neighborhood continues to sprout new complexes like mushrooms after a good rain, it can be a little tough for guests to find street parking, an issue I've solved by becoming an inhospitable recluse. If you must have human companions, the building does have a good half-dozen or so visitor spaces. After the original leasing company realized that floating floors were necessary to keep the noise down (my upstairs neighbors had either been juggling couches or pioneering the field of solid metal shoes), they installed them throughout the building, which made all the difference. Originally marketed as a "lifestyle" residence (every location here is hashtagged on signage, and food truck nights are a thing here), it's brimming with hip young dancers, artists, and students. It's generally a lot of fun being here, even for a guy twice their age who just wants to hide in his place and watch PBS with his cat in peace.
OMG What an Awesome place to live!!!! We have a little community built right on our residential grounds so if we just want to go outside without leaving the premises there are plenty of activities right outside our doors! :-)
