Property Ratings at The Highlands Apartments
It’s excellent because of the friendly atmosphere residence so far are super nice just friendly people all the way around including staff so far I have not had a problem I definitely would recommend anyone to come visit and check it out
I moved here in 2016 and it's been GREAT! The staff is AWESOME! They are very kind and sweet people. They are very quick on getting a problem fixed and making sure their tenants are HAPPY! It's a very safe environment for kids. My son is able to play outside without and problems and he also loves the Highlands as much as I do. I would recommend anyone to live here and look forward to continue stay.
They will lie and tell you anything you want to hear just to get you in the door. Do not pay or sign anything until you see the actual unit you would be staying in. Unprofessional, rude, argumentative management and staff.
We moved in a month ago with our eyes wide open and this complex measures up to more than what we expected! We have not seen any bugs and our unit was very clean when we took occupancy. This complex is not upscale but the rent we are playing is also not upscale. Our experience with management and staff has been very pleasant. I might recommend, however, that another person be added to the maintenance team. Due to the age of the complex, I expect there are inevitable maintenance issues, and the maintenance staff is, apparently, stretched a little thin. But, all in all, I give The Highlands positive marks.
I like my apt and love the staff and the location. These people must be creating their own problems. This place rocks. I really like how quickly things are handled
I dont why people are saying the things they be saying. This place is much better with the new management. Things are being fixed. The place is much better with the new management team. I've lived here for a while now and its great now. If you have an issue they fix it. I like the way this place is looking too.
Have had roaches since moving into this complex. Pest control is completely useless, all they do is spray the baseboards which sends the roaches from one apartment to the other. When management states you will have a newly updated apartment, understand that what they consider newly updated and what you consider newly updated are totally different. You can expect the original cabinets that are completely disgusting, falling apart and often so water damaged they are moldy. Don't expect any maintenance to be performed well, it's all band-aid fixes that look terrible and don't last. Move elsewhere!
This community has roaches, office staff is unreliable and doesn't follow through on complaints or return calls. The "manager" is never available to talk to and the staff tells you what you want to hear and doesn't follow through.
The Highlands apartment complex does have a beautiful pool, ample parking, and decent amenities. These great things do not make up for the water constantly going out without notice (as frequently as 2 times a month for over a day at a time), abundant dog feces throughout the grass areas at all times, and the most unfriendly property manager, LaTora, who has been over heard multiple times talking negatively about her tenants within earshot of other tenants. This is extremely unprofessional and shows poor management. The playground areas and the tennis courts are covered in broken glass that could easily hurt your children. It simply isn't safe. There are plenty of other complexes that can offer more respect and better amenities just down the street. Know what you are getting in to.
This is a great place to rent from. They are good about responding to maintenance issues quickly. We are right around the corner from McLennan Community College where I am currently a student. We have fast food places, a grocery store, & convenience store right up the road. We can go walking around the apartment complex or block safely. We have friendly neighbors and management. I like living here. We have been living here for 3 years now. I would definitely recommend for someone to rent here.
this place is no even 3-4 blocks from McLennan Community College, it's right down the road from an H.E.B., the staff is friendly and helpful with on-sight security and maintenance. All though the kitchen is small, my wife and I have adapted as we've been here going on 3 years. what it loses in the kitchen, it makes up for it with a spacious living room and bedroom , as well as a pool, tennis court, and basketball court. MCC also has a walking track, so if you are a student, it's definitely the place to be. our neighbors are terrific, they're quiet, no one bothers anyone, and we all help each other out if we can. so stop by, ask the staff for a tour, you'll be glad you did.
My husband, baby and myself wanted an apartment far enough away from the younger college crowd but close enough to the Heart of Waco. The apartments are spacious, the layout feels like a house, and the rent is reasonable. Management is helpful with maintenance but we have often caught them not being accountable to their word. Still, a great place for the price- great starter "home."
We've lived in the two bed two bath apartment for almost a year. I'll start with the pros: • The apartments themselves are nice looking and relatively modern. • The landscaping is nice and mostly well kept, and people are usually good about picking up after their pets. • The community is pretty quiet - not too many college kids having parties etc. • The storage units are a huge plus. • Compared to other apartments of similiar quality in the area, the rent is affordable (Especially for grad students/young professionals/young families.) Now for the Cons: • Maintenance is terrible. We have had numerous maintenace issues which we reported. Only one has ever been fixed (Leak around the edge of our kitchen sink) and the "fix" lasted about a week. • The buildings get VERY hot, especially in the summer, and not even light-blocking, energy-efficient curtains will help your comfort or energy bill very much. • The ventilation. We live on the second floor, above a lady who smokes multiple packs a day. All that smoke (Plus the smell of anything she is cooking/burning) comes straight up into our apartment through the vent in our kitchen. • The floors/walls/ceilings are very thin. We tried to be as quiet as possible when walking around our apartment, but the lady downstairs complained multiple times that we were stomping around. We could also hear every word of the tv shows and music she would listen to. • The bugs. There are bugs everywhere, no matter how many times pest control comes out. Even in the show apartment there were bugs. • The security. I had my car broken into once, and the courtesy patrol is a joke. We called for a noise complaint once, and it took them an hour to come by. • Finally (and most importantly)... the roof leaks and mold. Our roof was damaged in some thunderstorms a while back, and it took management over three months (and some encouragement from the city inspector) to fix it. Thanks to their inaction, we've been living with black mold growing under our kitchen sink, and probably in the ceiling. One of our neighbors told us she's had roof leaks and mold for four years now. Don't judge this book by its nice-looking cover. I would not recommend that anyone live in this complex.
I was promised a completely renovated apartment because the woman that previously lived there had been there for several years, what I got was an apartment in an unlivable condition. The staff is incredibly rude and does not keep their word, the maintenance is lazy and not worth calling. The bottom apartments would be flooded from the upstairs apartments, and there is a never ending army of bugs and no matter what you do, you can not get rid of them. This was my first apartment and I was disgusted. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!
