Property Ratings at The Highlands
I’ve had a great time living here. The location is great and the facilities like the pool, gym and basketball courts are super nice to have.

So good to hear from you! Thanks for letting us know. Have a great day!
This place is starting to grow on me after my first few months here. After getting everything clean and settling down getting used to the place, it’s not so bad.

Overall it’s been pretty good. The staff is really nice and maintenance has always been on top of any issue we had. We renewed for next year but hopefully next year the gate will be fixed so my sensor will open the gate because every time I have to put in the code and I don’t know anyone who’s sensor actually works.

Hello there - thanks so much for the feedback. Your input matters! Please don't hesitate to reach out to the front office so we can have your gate sticker fixed! Have a great day!
We have had maintenance issues that aren’t fixed until the 2/3rd called and it’s frustrating when it affects my daily routine. Besides that I enjoy living at the highlands.

Maintenance was efficient when i had an issue with my washer. Communication has always been really easy and my apartment itself is nice. I appreciate the parking situation

I love how this property is garden style. It makes it feel a lot more homey. It is also close to the University but not super close which allows for you to keep school and personal life separate. The front office staff is really nice and is always very helpful. Overall it is a great place to live!

You're the best! We really appreciate the positive review. Hope to see you soon!
The rent is okay but that's about it. Internet will sometimes go out without warning, upkeep on property could be better (grass, garbage, etc), and maintenance can take forever.

Hi - thanks for letting us know we went Beyond Expectations! We'll be sure to share with the team here at The Highlands! Can't wait to see you again - until next time, take care!
As a current resident at The Highlands, I can not express how lucky I am to live here and be a part of the community. First of all, each amenity is clean, maintained, and extremely convenient. Having the luxury of fairly priced rent as well as free parking is something that is hard to come by at any other residency in the area. To top it off, the staff is friendly and always answer the questions I happen to have. They have gone out of their way to ensure that I am taken care of and feel recognized. Highly recommend!

I'm a parent of a student living at The Highlands. Auto-payment does not work with this outfit and then they hit you with a late fee due to their faulty payment system. Attempted to leave THREE messages with management in December and never once have received a call back. Watch your wallet if you choose to have your son/daughter stay here. We'll be looking elsewhere once our lease is up.

I’ve lived with the highlands for nearly two years, and there are a few things I’d like to share with people that are considering moving here: Cons: -Roomate disputes are not resolved well. I had multiple meetings with management about a roommate dispute, and in that time my complaint had been lost, and near the end of a few months the dispute could not be solved unless it could be resolved by corporate. When asked if there was a way to move the issue, we were told that there was no room to. When we had two weeks left on our lease, we were offered to be moved instead. Meaning we would move, and then have to move again. - I ended up renewing because I only had one year left of school, and the Highlands decided to start using SimpleBills, a billing service for electricity that splits the bill automatically. In theory this sounds great, but you are charged $50 to use the service, and switching was not handled well. Six months into my lease I still have not been successfully switched over and am still having to split the bill with my roommates, even after paying the $50 fee. It is six months into our lease. That is half of the lease and we still haven’t had success, even after calling the highlands and simplebills directly. The communication about this has been poor, but they have it justified in the lease that they can switch to third party vendors for bills. So be aware of this practice if you are looking for a place to live over a longer period of time. You may be used to something and be switched without direct communication about the fact. -You have to pay to be picked up at their UNR shuttle stop. This may be a university thing, but regardless, if you think living here will save you on transportation costs to school you will be wrong. -So many parties. This could be a pro or con based on the person. Pros: -Close to Campus -Maintence does a great job trying to keep up on keeping things working. (We has multiple calls about our washer unit, and by the fourth they replaced the unit! Very grateful.) -The only pet friendly student housing close to campus. If your major concerns are being close to UNR and wanting your pet close, it may be worth everything else. If not, try to find another place to live.

Hey Mikayla, it's Jennifer from the front office. We understand these problems you've had, and apologize that they've created such a headache and waste of time for you and your roommates. You and I both know we have had plenty of connects over the situations concerning SimpleBills and the roommate/renewal, but we'd like to make another cohesive effort to help in any way we can, in whatever way possible. As a property, we cannot succeed unless we identify the problems and do our best to fix them. We look forward to another connect with you, and thank you for giving us a roadmap to improving the quality of your stay.
If the price was more reasonable, this place would be fine. However, you're looking at a minimum of twenty min walk to campus, longer if you need to get to buildings near the quad. A shuttle is available, but the wait is always longer than the twenty min guarantee, and you have to purchase an expensive shuttle pass. When I first moved in, they hadn't even cleaned the apartment. The carpets and floors were filthy, and they refused to get someone to clean it until my roomates and I had been demanding, waiting in the office area, for hours. The maintenance people usually do a good prompt job, though they usually left a mess in my experience. The office staff was ok, but were rarely trained to fix issues you had. Once I had two packages (I knew for certain they had been delievered because under the confirmation for both they even listed the name of the person in the office who accepted them). When I went to pick them up, it showed I had two packages on the sign in slip, but the office guy could only find one. Instead of looking again, he simply crossed out the second package and said it didn't exist. Wtf. I went back repeatedly and didn't get my package until a few weeks later when they did find it.

Were sorry to hear you didn't have the best experience with us!
The apartment complex really needs to hire people who are actually helpful, not just some jerks who's only answer is, "not my problem."
