About The Homestead Community
Completed in 1879, this New Hampshire landmark was once the personal home of actor, playwright and national celebrity Denman Thompson. As one of New Hampshire's most beloved buildings, Thompson's Mansion, graced more than a dozen different post cards sold throughout the state. Now you can live in this beautiful historic mansion! Enjoy the same country views, yet reside just 6 miles from Keene! This beautiful apartment building houses 15 apartments from cozy efficiencies to spacious three bedroom apartments on two floors. All apartments have antique wood floors and beautiful large windows. If you are interested in one of the sun-filled apartments and have excellent references, then please contact us today. Utilities included in the rent are: cold water, sewage, garbage removal (Normal Household Waste only, no Large items) and snow removal utility services. Tenant shall arrange for all other utility services on the Premises, including heat, hot water, electricity, telephone, cable television, etc. No communications "dishes" shall be installed on the building. Work references, rental history references, and back ground check will be collected and reviewed before the leasing process is approved. First month's rent plus damage deposit equal to the first month's rent is due at the lease signing and 5 days prior to move-in or a cashier's check if moving in sooner.

Swanzey is peaceful, pleasant, and cozy -- a small town with big personality. Swanzey is not completely rural, but far from the urban hustle and bustle of the city. The town has roughly 7,000 residents, and it exudes a quiet charm -- the type of town where you can truly get to know your neighbors.
Swanzey is more or less divided into a city center, and the four villages of North, West, and East Swanzey, and Westport. East Swanzey is a little quieter than the other villages, a little more spread out for those who would like to live the quiet country life. West Swanzey is a little pricier than some of the other villages, but still surprisingly affordable.
A deep love for the history of the town is part of the Swanzey resident's character, and the Swanzey Historical Museum is run entirely on donations and volunteer work.
