For over half a century, Huntsville has been associated with the development and testing of rockets for space exploration. This idyllic community in the Appalachian foothills of northern Alabama is a powerhouse of high-tech innovation for both civilian and military applications, with Redstone Arsenal, Cummings Research Park, and NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center driving the local economy. Living in the Huntsville area, you are likely to hear sounds from helicopters and rocket engines on a fairly regular basis.
The city’s intellectual values extend into the local schools as well, which are among the best in the state. But even though the city is home to such a large and unique scientific community, Huntsville retains a timeless atmosphere of Southern charm. Beautiful historic architecture is all around, especially in the Twickenham and Old Town Historic Districts.
Huntsville offers an array of apartments and houses available for rent in every style and budget imaginable.

Property Ratings at The Indigo at Grissom
When I toured this apartment I was told that it was freshly painted after the previous renter moved out. This place is disgusting.I pointed out how the bottom of kitchen cabinets have mold and mildew from water damage. The bathroom sink has mold but the mold was painted over. All of the bathroom fixtures has mold, beetles and roaches. The office staff said the apartment was cleaned and exterminated. When I came to move in there live roaches and bugs falling from the ceiling. The ink on my lease is not even dry. I want out
1 bedroom tenant- Kitchen cabinets are too small for standard plate size. Small plates fit fine. Very little cabinet space. No drawer in bathroom. Every step, every conversation, and every TV show by upstairs neighbor is heard through my ceiling/their floor. Unit was not cleaned well before move in, after corporate office took control of office. AC didn’t work upon arrival. Vinyl flooring peeling upon arrival. Lots of extra fees included above rental price. Advertised unit price is never the actual price, even when on their website. Be a smart tenant. Move somewhere else. Anywhere else. Nobody wants to come home to this. Thank goodness I signed the shortest possible lease. If I could break it, I would. A real outhouse of a complex.
I REPEAT I REPEAT DO NOT LIVE HERE! I have never ever in my life left a review for any apartment I lived at, but I have to warn others because I wish someone warned me about this place! Number one if you’re thinking about living here RUN go somewhere else the price is not worth it! Two the management team and maintenance need to be FIRED ASAP they are horrible! They never answer the phone I have walked to the office due to them not answering the phone and found one of the staff members sitting in her office brushing her hair, kids running around the office while staff is having side bar conversations and I think to myself is this why you’re not answering the phone! It’s a battle trying to catch someone by phone or even in the office! There either not in the office due to taking 2hr lunch breaks or just MIA! They recently tried to make me pay for rent for August and September, keep in mind my lease ends in August, they told tenants at the last minute the rent is increasing! With the maintenance I have called staff over and over and emailed about my issues in the apartment it got to the point no one was ever coming or cared so I had to just live in these ridiculous conditions. My microwave doesn’t work they just gave up trying to see what the issue was and no one bothered to come fix it till this day it’s not fixed and this was an error last year, the air goes in and out I have to flip a switch in my breaker box for the air to cut on, every time I look up it’s a new maintenance man they never keep anyone, I have to use a plunger in order for my toilet to work, my kitchen sink is clogged and leaks out under the cabinets! AGAIN, all issues I have reported, and nothing was fixed! I had to go to corporate more than once for this place and again it’s like nothing gets done! They are reasonable when it comes to paying your rent but again it’s not worth it and shouldn’t amount to the fact I have to live in these conditions. As a college student away from home there are things, I don’t want to stress about but I do! Whoever reads this take note and DO NOT LIVE HERE I have seen multiple tenants come and go and make complaints this whole place needs to be shut down if you ask me!
No communication. No maintenance and when you do get maintenance to come, they do shady work for instance stuff your water spout in you tub with paper towels and then wrap it with 2 inches of caulk and call it done.... Just run don't even bother!!!
I just moved in and it’s been a less than pleasant experience. I was offered an earlier move in date, which I declined, for a unit that wasn’t ready when I did move in. It was dirty. The kitchen sink is leaking, so I can’t wash dishes or move around well because I can’t cook if I can’t clean. The maintenance is a joke so far. Not renewing for sure.
If you are in search of an apartment in the Huntsville area, run far away from this place! They do not care about the tenants whatsoever. Maintenance is terrible. On the rare occasion that they actually come “fix” something, it breaks again within 2 weeks. All of the workers at indigo are BEYOND lazy, careless, and rude! Workers will never answer phone calls. As if the lack of customer service was not enough, the construction of this place is a disappointment. The floors are coming up, the wood molding around the bathroom sink is rotten, the doors always come out of the walls, and the tile in front of the fireplace is cracked and falling apart. Whoever painted the interior of these units needs to be fired immediately, because there are paint splatters all on the floor that will not come off. Please, do yourself a favor and don’t even consider moving here.
The apartment gets the job done, nothing fancy or super nice by any means, but also not terrible and unsafe. It’s common to find cockroaches in your apartment no matter how clean you are. The floors are warped/not leveled. The “state of the art” gym they have listed is an absolute joke. It barely has any dumbbells and then only has a broken stairstepper, a bike, two treadmills and an elliptical. It’s also not open 24/7. They can repaint every building and repave it(That’s a work in progress that’s been halted for some reason) but they can’t live up to the claims they make about their amenities?? Like I said in the beginning, it gets the job done. DEFINITELY overpriced for what you get.

One day just driving looking for apartments we cam across Indigo at Grissom. They were really nice as soon as we walked threw the door they greeted us. They gave us a tour of the facilitate and we were so impressed that we but our deposit down the same day. Now we are excited and ca not wait to move in next week.

My fiancé and I just moved to the area a few months ago and have been very impressed with the staff and the complex here. We moved from out of state and our last apartment experience was TERRIBLE. We moved here from TN and when we were looking in the area we found ourselves here at the Indigo. The staff has been extremely helpful. Our move here was simple, and they are always willing to help in any way they can! It was such a nice change from what we came from. There are a ton of things in this area, and you definitely won't feel like you are too far away from anything. If you are looking for a place in the Huntsville area definitely come look at the Indigo at Grissom!
My husband and I have been living at The Indigo for approximately 6 months now and it has been one of the greatest renting experiences we have had. While shopping for apartments we were concerned with 3 things: Safety, affordability, and convenience. The Indigo at Grissom fulfills each and every one of those desires. This property is quiet, the neighbors are friendly, and most of all the office staff is incredible. I could not say enough positive things about The Indigo at Grissom, so go sign a lease today!
I am very happy to have chosen the indigo, with my fiancé, as our new home when we moved to Huntsville! I would recommend that you choose the Indigo at Grissom for your new home.
Their million dollar remodel is a joke. I'm the first one to move into my apartment after the remodel and it's sad. Kitchen sink is not centered in the counter opening and not completely attached to the counter. I'm afraid to fill it, because I don't want it to fall through. Kitchen light fixture was so old I couldn't get the light bulbs out, they were rusted in. Microwave had the wrong size rotating tray in it and wouldn't spin. Took 2 months to get they fixed. Floors are vinyl on concrete, very cold, so you can't walk around with out shoes on because you feet freeze. The apartments are dark, faux mahogany floors, black appliances, mocha colored cabinets, with tan paint on the walls and grey and black counters. I think they were going for elegant, but got cave instead. I had to put in all new daylight LED lights so it wouldn't feel like a cave. Brand new stove? Bottom drawer is broke. New cabinets? No, they refaced them and you can still see the marks from the old hinges and one of the drawers is broken. The bed room closet is large, but you can't effectively use all the space because it has cheap wire rack shelves with no clothes hanger bar. So you have to hang your clothes from the wire rack and you can't slide your clothes around to get to stuff in the back. Every single plug and light switch in the apartment was loose when I moved in and I had to go through and tighten them all. GFI plug in the bathroom trips at random. There are much better places for the same price, don't come here. I'm moving the minute my lease is up.
I moved into the Enclave about four months ago and I absolutely love it. The apartment is really cozy, the office staff has been amazing, and any time I have called in a maintenance issue they have been very prompt in getting the problem taken care of. The grounds have always looked great and it has been quiet at night. The location has been a plus for me as well. I would recommend this property to any of my friends or family.
All of the ladies in the office are so nice when you're applying and viewing the apartment but not for long. Don't ever think you will be able to speak with Jennifer the property manager because "she is always on the other line right now" which means talking on her personal cell phone and smoking cigarettes out back all day long. These people do not do their jobs and do not care about anyone. I am shocked at the way I have been treated in my short 6 months I've lived here. I pay 100$ a square foot for this? To feel like I am bothering them when I put a work order in or when I call to speak to someone. Some people just shouldn't be in the customer service industry. No one cleans up after their dogs you have to watch every step when your watching or you will step in dog feces. I always see dogs off leases. By far the worst place I've ever lived if there was a negative star button I would use it. I cannot wait until my lease is up. I would rather live anywhere
Child please don't be fooled by the model home apartment in the pictures. When you get to see this apartment with your own eyes, you will be severely underwhelmed. Between the cracked tile in the fireplace, the ice maker that makes NO ICE. The ceilings that have yellow spots(most likely from water leaks), the floors have water pockets since they didn't even lay down ACTUAL WOOD for flooring. And we're not going to even talk about these thin walls. I just want to know why do I have to come home from a long days work and hear Billy and Sue downstairs watching tv? Or Betty and Becky constantly slamming the door each and everytime they leave their apartment--All because walls are just that thin!!! Happy I only singed a years lease.
Worthless maintained men. Everyone in the office has a horrible attitude. They're super sweet when you tour and sign a lease then they show their true colors. I regret ever moving here. As if the construction on the parkway isn't bad enough. Having to wait 6 months after putting a work order in for things is rediculous like to have my fans balanced or to fix the fact that my balcony rail is hanging on by 1 screw. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. I am breaking my lease to leave this place. DON'T MOVE HERE SPEND YOUR MONEY ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing gets fixed. The manager is terribly rude and a liar. No wonder there are so many empty apartments. Partying outside at 1 in the morning and nothing is done. I can't understand how these people take money for rent and you feel like you don't wanna even be here anymore. I would advise to do research and talk to some residents before moving here. Once your in your trapped like the roaches another reviewer spoke of. Poor Ser ice and satisfaction. I have lived all over Huntsville and Madison and this is the absolute worst especially for something in south Huntsville. Disgusted and Disappointed
roaches, horrible contruction and maintenance who never shows up! I have been here for close to a year. while here the destroyed my apartment let a horrible group of 20 something boys in my apartment to update it who screamed and cussed the whole time. The updates only include granite counter tops.... new paint on my old cabinets and light fixtures but they want to charge you 70 dollars more for that. oh and if you can get passed people in your apartment tacking dirt and leaving wires and screws everywhere you shouldnt mind the multiple storage units all over the property taking up parking and go ahead and look at the grass which is COVERED in dog feces! I hate this place!
I recently got a two bedroom, one bath at The Enclave in Huntsville, Alabama. I've heard many bad things, but I absolutely LOVE my apartment. They put in new hardwood floors and are currently doing more renovations such as; new countertops, appliances, cabinets, paint on the outside, and even privacy fences! I highly recommended The Enclave to anyone apartment hunting!! The gym is awesome as well!!
I have been living here for a few months now, and it has been a great experience so far. Nice updates to the property and a friendly staff are just some of the positive qualities about residing here.
