Property Ratings at The Iris Apartments
Absolutely terrible apartment. I wish I could leave a negative star review. The management is terrible and rude and they don’t care about their residents. ROACH INFESTED and there maintenance. Appliances barely work and everything was dirty when moved in. Didn’t even clean, just painted over it. Terrible neighbors who are loud and disrespectful and hoarders. There was a shooting in the neighborhood, in the apartment complex too, and there was no update or notification to the residents. The apartment waited over a year to clean out an apartment that was infested and disgusting. Truly horrible. Dog poop everywhere and maintenance still does nothing. Do not live here. This apartment caused the most anxiety and stress I’ve ever experienced. It needs to be closed down.
The apartments need some work since they’re a bit outdated, but the price, location and size of the rooms are definitely a great deal. However, there is a major roach problem, so I don’t feel comfortable having guests over. We keep our apartment tidy, never leave food lying around or let trash pile up inside, but that doesn’t them from being everywhere. Our AC struggles to cool down the flat, so it’s uncomfortable during the summer unless you’re willing to buy multiple fans to cool down the rooms. It’s a bit of a hit or miss if maintenance requests will get done in a timely manner, but luckily we haven’t had to put in too many. The ladies at the front office are friendly and helpful, so I never feel like it’s a waste of time if I have to go there. Overall, the apartments do have potential, but the roach problem really needs to be addressed. I wouldn’t have this at the top of my recommendation for people to live at, but it fits our budget. I don’t see myself breaking lease, since I do like how spacious the apartment is along with how quiet our neighbors are, but I know it can be way better.
Phenomenal staff and the maintenance crew is quick and efficient. All the upgraded amenities and roads they’ve been doing to the property has been great. Great pricing too. Love it.
Such a terrible place to live there is so many big fleas roaches there is alot of poop around the whole apartments the Maintenance people in the office are so rude and they are scammers and liars do not come here when I have a problem with my apartment they don’t come and fix it terrible terrible place I have lived in my whole life when I moved in my place was so dirty and filthy filled with bugs I’m just staying here for 2 months and I’m gone.
The pictures shown on this website are all a lie. This place is roach infested. The park and pool are not upkept. The leasing office doesn't answer the phone nor do they provide any information regarding what you inquire about. Almost everyone in the office has an attitude and are quick to pass you off because "it's someone else's responsibility."
Amenities include but not limited to, mold and rat infestation. The office don’t care, maintenance walks around all day pretending to work, they close out unfinished work orders and now tell me it’s my fault I’m living here because they’re allowing me to break my lease because of all the apartments falling apart. Patios are withered and falling apart, water leaks throughout the apartment. The pools are mosquito and frog infested, trash cans are always overflowing and include people going through them.let’s not forget the second night of shots fired on building 11. Only reason I put a star is because I had to. Sad because they had so much potential.
The latest problem...in addition to black mold for 4 months, a garage door at an angle that can't be closed and secured, no hot water for a month, and a faucet running for 6 months non-stop....is a maintenance crew that spent 3 hours trying to figure out how to turn off water to the building only to flood the entire top floor of the townhouse. The manager's response to calling the news agencies was....go ahead, everyone else is. The worst place I've ever lived.
Major maintenance issues since I moved in. Now I have been without hot water for almost 4 weeks. Office doesn't care.
Welcome to the pits... What a brutal place to live. If you have any family or friends even slightly considering moving to AXIO, please... Let them stay with you, on a couch, the floor, tbh ANYWHERE but here.. please let not just the pictures I'm posting, but the others posted before tell you eackly what this place is like. Words only do so much justice.. I stayed here 3 years, the apartment literally fell apart in front of my eyes.. I couldn't brush my teeth, wash my face or really even walk into my bathroom. Dirty leaking water would fall in my ears! On my face! Everywhere! I caught literally GALLONS of leaking water with my mop bucket and buckets.. for MONTHS I had to or it would've been even worse..(mind you this is with dozens of attempts calling the office they rarely answer, a full maintenance repair of part of the ceiling, followed by the SAME THING happening AGAIN COLLAPSED ceiling just see the pics).. there are massive pot holes, broken-down mailboxes, roaches! That seemed to be on a mission!! trash EVERYWHERE outside, by your car, in the parking lot, on the side walk.. it's sad how little people care to live there and tbh I can't blame them because it's obvious this place dose not care at all about it's residents.. it's sad to see.. I didn't want to leave a review, I think from previous reviews it's pretty obvious what this place is, but after dealing with a disgusting apartment for years tbh they should be praying former residents don't end up feeling a need to leave a review for having to live in these kinda condition's but nope.. SMH.. They don't get how exposing the condition of this place completely destroys their reputation, thus in turn their own ability to make potentially so much more money with a full apartment complex if it was worthy of residing.. Again it's just sad, please let this review and others be your guide before signing ANY lease.. this is a warning ?? I could go on and on but there's no point. Again let the pictures speak for themselves..
I lived here for almost a year and I have nothing up amazing experiences with this place I highly recommend this apartment as your home.
I moved into axio January 1st 2020. It was perfect in my opinion but only bc I had absolutely nothing to compare it to. I loved it for the first 3 months and then I started to notice the flaws. THIS IS A WHOLE A!S ROACH MOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m very fortunate to have family that was willing to let me move back in until my lease ends. (because I don’t want a broken lease on my record) but yeah, the roaches are so bad I couldn’t even stick out my entire 12 months there. I’ve also had 2 dachshunds for 4 years and they’ve NEVER had allergies until I moved into axio. And guess whose allergies have cleared up since moving out? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE AVOID THIS APARTMENT UNLESS UR TRYING TO SLEEP WITH THE ROACHES EVERY NIGHT.
I was very optimistic about moving here to AXIO apartments after the movers moved everything in. I noticed that the apartment was sweltering. Figured it was because the door was open and needed time to cool down. That was a Saturday night. That following Monday morning, we addressed the major issues of the ac leaking and not cooling the upstairs. The temperature never dropped below 80 degrees, and rendering half of our living space unsafe to occupy. When being up there just after a short time, I feel as if I am having a hypoglycemic episode since I am a high-risk pregnant diabetic, it can become life-threatening for my unborn baby and me. No matter how many times we have been to the office, called the office, or placed tickets to the office, its been three weekends of having maintenance show up, walk-in look around, and walked out. Six different personal, the first three, said they needed to order a part five days into to issue. The last two people told me it had no flow to the upstairs. Their inability to fix the issue is resulting in the third weekend, a total of 15 days and still counting so far without ac to half of the apartment we have rented. My two younger children no longer want to sleep in their beds upstairs because it's hot and has woken up in the worst of mood because they can't even get a restful night's sleep. The leak from the ac has now caused damage to their flooring, and the upstairs is 82 degrees at 9 pm. The most challenging part of this is having to watch my disabled son with sensory issues beg me to put him in clarity because he would be more comfortable there than staying home and losing it. I have come to realize that I moved my family into an apartment right before I am to give birth no less, to an apartment complex has shown me they care very little in fixing issues with the apartments they rent out then they do about collecting rent. There is no pride in their work, no pride in the conditions of their rental properties, and care very little about getting the job done. The knew they had ac issues before letting us move in from the previous tenants, and still, ten business days later, there is no resolution, and we are miserable in our skin. Ac is just one of our primary concerns. There are other concerns I have not mentioned. The front office assured me that other tenants "have it worse." I honestly can't believe they have a 3.7 rating.
Please pay attention to reviews about this apartment complex. The apartment I was shown was not the apartment I was given. The apartment was DIRTY and bug infested. Management tried to tell me my apartment would be ready the day after I supposed to move in because they had to replace the floors. When I turned the water on roaches crawled out from everywhere. There was dead bugs and live bug in the cabinets and the baseboards were dirty and missing. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST
I've lived in Axio since late March of this year and I should've run away from day 1. I was supposed to be moved in by March 13, all of my payments were made, but after repeated promises from the lady at the desk and a threat to move into another apt, I finally received my keys on March 23rd, but wasn't able to be "official" until the 24th since they were STILL working on the apt. Now for the list: Right off the bat the new dishwasher was leaking, they had to replace it. I've had my kitchen sink "repaired" 4 times - the leak started a week after I moved in, each time they finally came over I had to go into the office repeatedly to get someone over, the issue has finally been resolved about 3 weeks ago BUT there is still mold they haven't taken care of under my kitchen sink (I have 4 children at home!). Took 2 months for them to fix the light in my kitchen. My living room fan doesn't work, I've been "in progress" for having that repaired for 2 months. My children's bathroom finally got the shower issue replaced (they were only able to take baths) but only have 1 working sink, and only the hot water (they've been in twice for that) and there is also some minor water damage and possibly mold under one of their sinks so they've been using mine. I went 5 days without hot water (they were notified at the 2nd day) and after them promising me they'd be in to fix it I finally went ahead and reset the water heater myself. It still only works occasionally and they still haven't come/called/whatever to even see if it still needs to be fixed. I have had no less than 6 different "maintenance" workers in my home, each stating "this is horrible, I can't believe they let you live like this." and only ONE returned to fix something, but wasn't "able to" fix everything. When they arrive they have no idea what the issue is, they just assume it's an AC issue and I have to start from scratch with all the issues. Other than that one gentleman, they NEVER come back, even though I am promised and given time lines for their return the next day. The flooring on the balcony has soft spots, my roommate fell on one and twisted her ankle/almost fell down the stairs. I still don't have a key for the storage room downstairs. It took me 3.5 months to get my mailbox key (the mailman told me himself that this place is notorious for having the mailboxes broken into/mail stolen, and this was after they GAVE ME A KEY, and I went to check and my box didn't even have a lock on it!).
Our apartment is a good size and that's about where it ends for good reviews. We have had a leak in one of the rooms for about 2 months. The maintenance came turned the water off upstairs and never cane back, of course the water was turned back on. The roof is all stained and now there's a hole. They said the water was coming from the "clean" water in the upstairs toilet...im.debating calling someone because that cannot be okay or sanitary. All of the appliances are really old and the closet.doors don't even stay on the track. The door in another room won't even stay on the hinges. Plus they brag about a sparkling pool, but having a pool side apartment, I can say the jacuzzi has been this mossy green soup since we moved in that attracts mosquitos. There's trash all over the property and no one picks up after their pets. There's throw up all over the outer sidewalks from people drinking and although the trash service fees top around 40 dollars the bins are always overflowing. Plus recycling is not offered. Of course qe have mentioned our specific issues to office but it remains same. Just come see the property before you rent, because they will not offer to show the apartment before hand. Learn from our mistakes.
I had just relocated from Nashville because of my job and I was pleasantly surprised to find this property here at Axio. The first person that I saw was "Jackie", let me tell you, if I owned a company, she would be my spokesperson. Talented and friendly with that nice touch of flair that is almost impossible to find even in Fortune 500 companies, an ASSET without a doubt. The place I rented this past February was a 1 bedroom, spacious and clean, (5 minutes from work) just what I was looking for. I had a couple of "bumps" that the manager took care of that very same day as she invited me into her office to listen to them (though she has over 300 units)! Outstanding customer service!! If you are new to San Antonio (like me) and are looking for a place to call "home" look no further; Axio is your answer!!! K. L. Covington
Jacky and Melanie are the nicest people at the front desk. The first thing when you enter the door you are greeted with big smiles and people who care about you. Not only to prospective residents but also to current tenants. I live in a studio with my husband and whenever I have a work order, it is done within 48 hours. I love how they have the business center it is so convenient for me which they didn't have until when the new management took over. There was one time when I sent a print and Jacky had it ready before I came. Melanie is really good with following up as well. There are many fun community events to attend. Axio always try to keep everything clean like the leaves. Don't let the bad reviews make your decisions. A lot of the negative reviews are exaggerated and of course, nothing is perfect in any apartment complexes. Usually people write a negative experience will leave feedback and many people who have a positive experience won't write reviews. So, my experience living here is great. Axio always tries their best in getting things done and keep in mind they are servicing more than 300 residents so please be patient if sometimes the work order isn't done yet. Also being picky won't help. Anyhow, the neighbors are nice too and respectful of noise level as it is important for me because I teach classes online. There are so many parking spaces and I love how they had a promotion before we moved in it was one of the reasons why we chose it because of the rent price. Axio always tries their best in making their tenants happy. They also finally fixed the laundry area which was down a couple of months until the new managers took over and fixed it, it is so convenient I really enjoy living here and Axio is a safe place to live.
The staff here are very friendly and helpful, always greeting you with a smile and putting our residents concerns first. Great place to live!
I don't know how this place even has 1 star rating. This place has been the worst in the years living here we have gone through so much management including maintenance staff it's crazy. Our electric bill will be so high again this summer I'm so not looking forward to it. This is because of poor circulation in the two story apartments I've called CPS energy and the only thing they can tell me is to contact the office and have them update the systems. Ha! That would be great if they'd actually listen. When there is maintenance issues and we call after putting in an order online the response from the office is "Maintenance is working on it, or they're waiting on an ordered part" To my understanding maintenance isn't in charge of the property the property manager is, she's the one who needs to stay on top of maintenance about taking care of her residents. She could have maintenance pick up a part and reimburse them. I could go on and on and complain about everything I've gone through living here but that would be a story, I could literally write a book about all the wrongs about this place. What's sad is they even took the playground away from the kids because of damage a year ago and haven't replaced it i doubt they even will. Like I said i could tell you more but they would know exactly who I am and I don't want to see a response saying they want to make this right because that will be a lie. There have been many moves to other apartments in the complex but residents still have complaints and I have seen residents come and go before their lease is up because of lack of maintenance. I recommend anyone staying clear from these apartments even if they give you a good move in price. It's not worth it the pipes are old the building is always shifting we have cracks in the walls in every room. JUST DON'T DO IT!

Been living here since November and it has been nothing but a nightmare. I currently have about 2 or three workorders open since the 25th of April. Haven’t been contacted for either of the workorders. I been having the same issues with the townhome since I’ve moved here. Communication is also the worst here. Don’t even try to send a email because you will not get a reply. The only time I was sent a reply email was when I was in the process of applying for a townhouse. On top of that I never received a garage key and been told it’s backordered for the longest time. Also the maintenance guy, (when he finally shows up just to show up) damaged the garage door and now doesn’t even open from inside the house.

I moved here in December of 2017, and have regretted it ever since. I have submitted six work requests, none of which ever got completed, so I quit submitting them. My monthly utility bills from May through August were over $400 because the building has terrible insulation and large gaps between the doors and doorframes. I installed my own weather stripping to try to improve this, but to no avail. There is almost no water pressure at all in the master bath, and never has been. The exterior lighting is almost non-existent, creating a major safety issue when trying to go downstairs in the dark. Every time it rains, which has been a lot lately, there is a standing pool of water more than six inches deep at the base of the stairs. The drawers in the kitchen are falling apart, and I have had to repair them numerous times myself because maintenance never bothered to respond to the service requests. The doors on the utility room keep falling off, and I have had to remount them myself four times. I didn't bother submitting a work order because I got so tired of them all being ignored. The property is very old and definitely showing its age. Insist that they show you an actual apartment rather than the model, because the model is not at all representative of what you will actually get. The only thing I have ever looked forward to at this place is moving out at the end of this month.

The negligence ensued by management is horrendous. Their attitude is nonchalant and lazy. Work orders are never followed through unless you incessantly contact the office to have the work done. They also require you to have everything you tell the office for work order follow up to be done in writing even after he work order is done. I had cockroaches throughout my apartment and for weeks after I put in the work order and contacted the office multiple times to have pest control come, they never did until the week that I was leaving they said they would “make sure pest control would come.” The worst timing to come when I leave; more like a goodbye gift. The gate only worked for one week during my 9 month lease. The community is loud at night, I’ve had to call noise complaints at 2 in the morning even during the weekdays multiple times. The shrubs are always in awful condition. There’s no curb appeal. They send emails of water shut off an hour after they occur. The laundry area has been out of service for months and there has been no information of when it will be fixed. There are cracks throughout the tennis and basketball courts that make it unsafe to play. The pot holes in the community are awful and numerous. I am not the only apartment with cockroach issues, other neighbors around me have the same continuous issue. All in all, don’t move here. The carelessness and filth throughout the complex and management is discouraging and sad is be surrounded by day to day. Live in a cared for community, it makes all the difference.

-We literally have a video of cockroaches living under and inside of our refrigerator •Called for Pest Control 3 times since we moved here in May (it’s now September) yet nothing has been done -The fridge doesn’t close properly so we have a 10 lb. weight in front of its door to prevent it from opening (cockroaches found EVERYWHERE inside of our fridge) -AC is broken and someone came to “fix” it yet it remains broken!! It’s cheap here but get the room on higher level and make sure your fridge and AC are new or make an immediate note to check them and write it down on your walk through to turn in with the lease

If I could give zero stars I would. The apartment itself is not bad. The maintenance is horrible. I was told 48 to 72 hours to handle orders because they were short staffed. My ac was leaking the day I moved in, and 4 days later my husband had to fix it. The third day here, I tried to use my oven and it over heated, warped my brand new pan and turn my biscuits into charcoal. Two and a half weeks later maintenance comes out calling me a liar stating that the appliances are practically new and should not be having problems like that, and here I am stuck with a broken oven that I was told I can not replace myself without being charged for the broken oven. Um...excuse you. I regret moving here! and have a whole year to go :(

The location and the price of the apartments is what initially sealed the deal for me. Unfortunately, just a couple days after moving in I realized I should’ve read the reviews more in depth than I had. I moved in 9/2017 into a unit that was clearly not ready to be moved into. The apartment manager at the time advised that they would take care of everything ASAP. I handed the inventory list of what all needed to be fixed after walking through the apartment. Almost 8 months later, only 2 of the 37 work items have been completed. I call and remind the front office, along with online work orders, and everything gets marked as complete yet nothing has been done. I can’t fathom the reasoning behind not only moving me into a unit that isn’t ready, but most importantly the hesitation to fix these things. On top of living in a “half done” apartment, there’s roaches everywhere. I’ve been complaining about this for weeks and I have yet to have someone come by and exterminate. The apartment staff seems to change constantly, and each change is just another time i need to explain and complain again. At this point, I’m paying rent to live in an apartment that is insanitary and overly uncomfortable. Best advice if you’re apartment hunting is to keep looking!
Since day one of living here and sadly Been for 1 yr. There have been roaches everywhere! No matter how many times we call pest control the roaches are still here. There's an INFESTATION! They're behind the stove, by the refrigerator compressor, the drawers, everywhere! When we first moved in there was all sorts of problems with the apartment and did a poor job of cleaning it before hand, it seemed like it was half fast. When I see the staff showing guest around I just want to tell them to run away and never look back!

The place is great. We are staying in the corporate apartment. It came with everything they said it would. The furniture and appliances were all new. Management has taken very could care of us. It is a secure and clean place. I would definitely recommend it.
HORRIBLE!!!! Aside from the ROACHES EVERYWHERE and the FLEAS EVERYWHERE (I look like I have chicken pox from the flea bites- I don't have a pet)... This was my experience... I found out this morning, the person who leased me out a room in his apartment not only did so illegally, but he took all of my (and my roommates money- over $2,000), and took off with it. We had a notice on the door stating the $2,000 balance, and a notice of "habitat abandonment". I had a wonderful time this afternoon having SAPD screaming in my face, telling me I had an hour and a half to remove all of my things from my home, or I would be charged with criminal tresspassing. I immediately called the manager of the Axio Apartments to explain what happened, and how this was a huge misunderstanding, and we paid rent with a signed and dated contract with the leaseholder of the apartment. The manager said, "Well, life isn't fair sweetheart- get out now". (Side note: I am not currently at the Axio Apartments, I just wanted to "check in" so everyone knows which complex I'm referring to. I believe every busibess should be given credit for their customer service- or lack thereof). Even if they couldn't help, they could have had a heart and been kind. I pray that if that manager ever finds himself in a position of similar helplessness, he is treated more kindly than how he treated me.
When we went to sign our lease, the leasing agent was nowhere to be found. The asst manager "didn't want to step on toes" so after 40 minutes of going back & forth with him, he finally drew up a lease for us. The unit we leased HAD NOT BEEN TOUCHED, but he gave us keys & didn't tell us this. So the next day we were shocked to find: the stair rail hanging from the wall, a stove with 3 burners, puddy on various walls & cabinets, a metal strip with sharp corners coming up from the carpet, thick dust covering vents & fixtures, 3 constantly running toilets, a thermostat off by 5 degrees, a water heater with 1 element (the 2nd had caught fire), an ancient breaker box, only 1 GFI outlet per bathroom, doors that wouldn't close because of how poorly the new, already peeling floors had been installed, the ceiling peeling from water damage in the kid's bedroom, detached laundry room doors, ripped carpet, fixtures with dead bugs...the list goes on & on. 6 months in, the railing is hanging, 2 bathrooms have flooded from running toilets(water seeped to the 1st floor, damaged the ceiling), sinks in the kitchen & a bathroom have both leaked & broke, garbage disposal broke & it took a few days for our stinky, flooded sink to be repaired(twice), the bathroom ceiling was wide open for 2 weeks before maintenance came to repair & close it up, & the security gate works all of 2 weeks before it's broken again and left open for months at a time. Dumpsters disappear periodically so trash piles up for days sometimes. We're lucky if 1 pool is clean enough to swim in. Otherwise they are both left unlocked so vandalism occurs & they are then both closed. Instead of repairing existing units, Axio prioritizes exterior painting(arrows on the street, an SA skyline mural that faces the office where no one sees it, an odd fencing project in the front)above all else. They are currently masking rotting wood foundation supports with new brick so new residents are none-the-wiser! We have 7 young adults living in the unit across from us. This is a trend throughout the complex. They are outside at all hours of the night with their friends, so we are woken up by drunk kids & get to walk past vomit on sidewalks & walkways. This is all the fault of the office. Maintenance can't do their job without delegation. We've received erroneous notice threatening eviction for unpaid balances that don't exist. We had a meeting with the manager to address our horrible move-in experience: nothing came of it.
This place is a joke in more ways than one. The "pool" was unusable all last summer, gate never works, maintenance takes forever to fix anything no matter the issue, management does nothing about the complaints, and security is never around. Cars have been vandalized and cops called numerous times for theft, gun shots and partiers. Living here is ridiculous!
we have been here 1 year and its been bad our ceiling in the living room and l hall way get rained we have placed orders for 4 months and no responds they never come and fix anything we had so many problems and nothing is done and for the past 2 months have of the gutter has been hanging on the side of my window and they have done nothing its very dangerous because if it falls it will hurt someone really bad, so many wrong things in the apartment complex
Soo they only pick up trash once a week.....its a large property and trash usually spills over the dumpster after the weekends....which starts to stink and brings rodents. I've been here for 6months and the first month just saw 1 or 2 bugs now even after extermination I am killing them all the time. The management seems they are not here for the tenants and really unprofessional at times. The space I have is great and the amount of bathrooms BUT....the pool is never open and can anyone say fitness center...we are still waiting for that to be open. I guess it will open when summer is over?? Not worth the money.
To start off the apartment I am in does not resemble the model in any form or fashion. I have had so many problems with this apartment since I moved in from the showers falling apart due to your many paint jobs, I cannot clean them properly with out the paint chipping in the tub and they just look gross. We went without blinds for almost a month. My son went without lighting in his restroom for at least 1 month after moving in. We went without hot water for about a week and a half. My trash compactor has been broke for at least a week now. Not to mention the constant pest control visits due to the tenants bringing in mattresses from the dumpsters. Racket from a tenant have a pet racoon. And having the trash pile up in the dumpsters for over a week. It was smelly and just plain unsanitary. I would suggest a better screening of the tenants with references before they move in. I see trash outside their apartments for weeks at a time which causes bugs and attracts cats. The staff is of but they make promises they cannot keep and it is very frustrating. But if we are a day late on Rent you get sent all these letters and emails. If they have time to send all that to your door they should have the time to get things fixed in a timely manner or hire more people to help.
