South Carolina’s oldest and largest city, Charleston is nicknamed the “Holy City” because of an ordinance stating that no building can tower over the tallest church steeple. Because of this, there are no skyscrapers of any kind in the city, which has allowed Charleston to maintain its historic character. Home to a stunning landscape and award-winning restaurants, Charleston is truly the center for all things Southern charm.
History buffs revel in the many historical sites throughout Charleston, including the Fort Sumter National Monument, where the first shots at the Civil War were fired. Pristine beaches, the mighty Angel Oak tree, and the vast Lowcountry are popular with the city’s nature lovers. Residents adore the unique boutiques lining King Street, and the live performances at America’s first theater, the Dock Street Theater.

Property Ratings at The Islands Apartments and Townhomes
We signed an 18 month lease. When renewal time came they raised the lease $220.00 per month. We should have heeded the warning when we read prior reviews about this. People use the pool from across the street and have had issues with people drinking and cursing in the pool on multiple occassions. We were told there was nothing that could be done. Parking is always an issue and we often carry our groceries from teo buildings away. Many college students here that have three to a unit and then boyfriends also come to live, so lots of issues. We have a family and my husband is a disabled veteran. This has been a horrible experience, with no help to accomidate his issues.
Very nice property manager here named Becky. She is always willing to help or answer questions. Nice facilities that are kept updated. Quiet complex with two ponds that have ducks, geese coming in and out.
If you are concerned with being able to hear your neighbors, I must tell you, when I watch my TV - no matter how loud I turn it up - I can still hear my neighbor's TV. I honestly do not think their TV is even turned up that loud. It sucks. Although to enjoy the layout of this townhouse, I'm incredibly disappointed by the level of noise intrusion from my neighbors. I feel my privacy is violated and as if I'm spying on them right back. The downstairs bathroom may just as well be open on their side. It's actually too embarrassing to use that toilet.
I was in college and I'll be moving out this month (July). But it was a great apartment. It's 3 (or 4) bedroom. There are houses and town houses, but I lived in a duplex. It was wonderful. The utilities were included with a cap, but they gave you plenty of water and electricity. I shared with 2 other girls, both in college, but I could definitely see a family living there too. Everything looked brand new and each bedroom had a walk in closet with its own bathroom. There was a private back porch and a front porch shared with next door neighbors. There was parking for plenty exta people just as the end of each road. There was a security deposit that is non refundable but it takes care of holes put in walls from hanging things and also if you were to paint the walls. It's a 12 month lease, and can be renewed at the end of each year. It's about a mile from Georgia southern so it is mostly college kids but it's a great and quiet neighborhood.
