The mix of cosmopolitan flair and low-key atmosphere once led LA Weekly to speculate that North Hollywood just might be the best place to live in the Los Angeles area. This community has become popular among artists, writers, filmmakers, and actors seeking balance between easy access to Hollywood and a quieter, more suburban home environment.
The local food and bar scene is robust, and the bohemian vibe of the NoHo Art District attracts all manner of offbeat creative types. Uncommon among Los Angeles-area communities, much of North Hollywood is quite walkable, with food, drinks, galleries, and performance venues just a leisurely stroll away from one another. Thankfully for renters, all of the perks of this location come at a relatively affordable cost. Most renters pay an average of $2,282 to rent in North Hollywood, about $500 less than the Los Angeles average.

Property Ratings at The Ivy at NOHO
I lived here for a little more than a year now. It's not too bad considering the apartment is equipped with the essentials like washer & dryer, small gym, small pool, and nice entertainment amenity room. Obviously, not the best apartment, but it delivers the value for your money. For the money I pay, I relatively get nice features - bigger living area (for the studio I am renting), a balcony, in unit washer & dryer, a good looking interior although it isn't high end materials, and a central AC/heater unit. I love the fact that it's roomy, functional, and very importantly - no bugs!! I have not seen a single bug in this place for one whole year. No bug, especially roaches, is my favorite part. Now, some of the downside is... Elevators are constantly down. Manager is nice, but they send a lot of messages to warn/remind their tenants a bit unprofessionally sometimes and very frequently. However, I just ignore them if it's something that I am not violating. Sound proof is not that great, so I hear a lot of music bass bumping when I go to bed. It's not loud, but it's loud enough for me to get annoyed sometimes. Also, sometimes, smell of weed or cigarettes creep into my unit when I open the balcony door. Sometimes, the smell climbs up through the restroom vents for whoever is smoking in their unit, and travels to my restroom vent. The smell isn't too strong, but its strong enough for it to bug me. Lastly, this is both pro and con, but the inner units of this apartments is very well shaded. You won't get much sunlight, and it keeps the temperatures low. This means that it will be pretty cold during winters, but during the summer, it was heaven. I only used the AC during the hottest 2-3 weeks this summer. Rest of the time, I was able to pass by with a fan. Overall, it isn't too bad. Not the best, but for the rent they charged me, it was undercutting a lot of other apartment complexes by delivering a lot of key/essential features I needed.
