If I could give a -10 star rating I would but I'm required to give them something so i will leave 1 star. Do not lease from here and avoid Debbi at all cost. She was ridiculously rude to myself and my wife when we wanted to check out more then just the 1 floor plan she had shown us and she was completely disorgnized and didnt even know her own pricing for any units that she supposedly manages. After much push back she finally showed us the floor plan reluctantly and kept jabbing in my face that its on special i'm basically wasting her time. Do not move here if you wanna deal with incompotent management like Debbi.
We got an apartment at the Jones after finding their move-in deal on craiglist. They were nice at first, wanted us to get the apartment quickly so they rushed us to apply and signed everything within 3 days. We moved in and we found out that they barely have any free parking spots. If we want to park our cars after a long day of work, we have to purchase parking spot for 50-75 dollars a month (most places in hillsboro are only 20-30 bucks top). We decided to buy 1 garage spot and one carport but they only allowed us to buy the garage spot so we always have to hunt for parking space, especially if we have to work late. One specific event that always bugged me was how their garbage disposal never worked properly when we first moved in. We called for work-order several times because it was never fixed properly, every time we would only be able to use it once, then it would stop working again so we have call for another work order. We even explained to the maintenance team the problem and yet, nothing was done properly until the thing just died. When they had to replace it (finally...) they blamed us for clogging it and that they would charge us next time we call work order. It was also pretty loud living at the Jones. 7 AM, we were already woken up by all kind of machinery from either the yard maintenance team or construction people, especially during the weekend for some reason. Moving out is also a nightmare. They WILL charge you all kind of fees, from old paint to any kind of cleaning fee so read your lease carefully. You will NOT get your deposit back. Talking to the management will only infuriate you even more, even if you never get mad. Read the review, trust me, I should have done homework before moving to the Jones. Definitely my biggest mistake in all of this is going to the Jones for a year... :(
there's NO parking, unless you buy a space. the office doesn't accept packages. when we signed our lease, we were told our apartment wouldn't be on a busy road. lies! :p
The apartment was in good condition and clean upon move in. The maintenance team does a good job of completing work orders promptly. A little inconvenient living on the 2ND floor and hearing your neighbors come and go because the garage is very loud. However, despite the few pros listed we had nothing but a negative experience with The Jones and the management staff. Parking is nonexistent if you don't have a garage and everything is built so closely it's very tight to navigate. You also get a lot of noise from the train due to its location. Obviously these are things they cant really change, just a flaw of design. This one star review is directly related to our experiences with the front office staff. They did not communicate well with each other and didn't record information so they were always confused about our leasing process or documents/information given to them. They would gossip about other employees or their upper management even when people were in the office which we found unprofessional. They would close the office with no notice so you never knew when you could go in to pay rent or ask a question. After move out they charge ridiculous and outlandish charges and don't have the decency to tell you in a phone call - they instead send you an email and give you limited time to pay a large sum of money with few days notice. They however have 30 days to decide how they are going to overcharge you. It took 3 attempts through both call and email before we even got a response regarding the initial charges. They will not work with you, they will not provide you good service, and they will overcharge you. Overall, this has been the worst management company and I do not recommend them to anyone.
Summary: The Jones is located in a reasonable location with reasonable rent. Paying for a parking space is necessary. Grounds are well maintained and maintenance is prompt. Interior appliances are stainless and the laundry is a nice stacked high efficiency set. I would recommend to friends/family despite caveats listed below. 1. Given the lack of available open parking, opt for a garage so you are guaranteed two parking spots. Typically there are no open spots after 17:00. 2. Road noise from Wilkins/Cornelius Pass is significant for a majority of the property with expected activity during the week from 06:00-23:00. I do not have to set a morning alarm as there is ample traffic by 06:15 each morning during the week to act as an alarm when windows are open. 3. Property is smoke free but if you reside near sidewalk, which is not considered part of the property, you may experience secondhand smoke filtering in. This mainly applies to 1st floor apartments. 4. I am awaiting resolution on this issue but I reported an issue with my hot water heater. The service was prompt that same day and the maintenance folks replaced a thermostat. This created a new issue where the water was constantly being heated to a dangerous level. I reported this issue and the water heater was replaced that day. However, I incurred about $20 worth of energy charges from the hot water heater running non-stop for almost two days. I provided collateral for management and hopefully they will reimburse me the $20. This is the only instance where responses has not been prompt. The Jones is located in a fairly decent location given the local access to grocery and shopping in whether off of Cornelius Pass or in the Streets of Tanasbourne. If you are working on the West Side and want a place that is still reasonably priced relative to some of the newer apartments, The Jones is a good choice. It is also very convenient if you need to take transit as MAX is a very short drive or a 10-15 minute walk. I am in the Allisan 1BR/1BA on the 1st floor Wilkins facing and I am quite fond of it, despite the aforementioned caveats. The only real frustration I have had is that there is no jacket closet so guests end up placing their jackets on chairs. 1st floor stays very cool relative to high outside temperature and also stays warm relative to outside cool temperature.
