Less than five miles from Downtown Saint Paul, Energy Park is conveniently located with tons of employers making up this mixed-use area. There’s definitely an industrial vibe to the neighborhood, as it’s surrounded by office parks and railroad tracks.
Because Energy Park was developed in the 1980s, it’s still relatively new to Saint Paul. Bandana Square is one of the office parks, complete with a steam locomotive and water tower to enhance its railroad-themed décor. A hotel and conference center, urgent care, and other small businesses encompass the square.
Down the road, you’ll find the campus of Metropolitan State University. Gabe’s By The Park is a friendly restaurant in walking distance of Energy Park apartments. Hamline University on Snelling Avenue is just a short drive from the neighborhood.

I lived there for more than 5 years while I was a student at the U and didn’t want to live in old dorm-like apartments near the school. **The Leasing office and Maintenance care about the tenants. Stephani was responsible and supportive. **Snow: Sometimes, they delayed snowplowing the parking lots and cleaning the walkways between the building. That made it very tough to walk around in winters. **Heating and Cooling are central: The apartment is well-insulated and is warm in winters. But I couldn’t get to my desired temperature on the hot summer days. **Floorplan: I loved that the entrance door didn’t open to a hallway. My 1BR apartment was located on the 3rd floor facing to the east and got lots of sun through the sliding doors and relatively large windows. **Safety: I cannot comment on this, but I never had an issue. I don't think if there is a safety patrol. **Location: Energy Park Dr is not bike-friendly. The neighborhood is not very walkable, but the building is relatively close to the Lake Como, Groundswell Cafe, Target, etc. Bus #3 made my commute easier but was not reliable in winters. **Landscape: When I moved in, there were many trees with beautiful birds and squirrels playing around. Unfortunately, they had to cut them for safety issues. **Noise: There is a railway at the back of the building. Trains pass slowly, but you may feel slight shakes sometimes. I did not care about them after a few weeks. **Gym is small, and the machines were not maintained. **Moving out was very smooth, and they only charged me reasonably for one item. **Note: My 4-star rating is relative (as time is relative!) to other places in Twin Cities.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review! We appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear you enjoyed your apartment home and that our staff was able to provide you with great service. If you have any questions about the items you brought up, or if there's anything else we can assist you with, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Its very old apartment, some of the unit wont have much exposure to sunlight and air ventilation. During winter there is centralized heater for entire apartment, you cannot control the temperature its fixed and very noisy you feel stressed due to the heater and its noise. The car parking garage are too bad dust and greasy which will stick in your foot wear and comes along to the carpet in your unit. Due to this your carpet color will change in the entrance, you cannot steam wash those but apartment office will charge you for sure which happened to me. If you pick the unit near to Garbage area in the ground floor there will be lot of small insects around your unit. most often cigarette smell from the air ducts you can notice that. Also there was theft through the garage parking stolen some tires from one of the vehicle. My kind advice please don't select this apartment for your safety and good health.
I am a current resident but don't think that I would recommend this apartment (or the related MacLaren Hill next door) to anyone. While I think that the apartments are nice and reasonable, I am more concerned with the safety of the area and residents. There have been many car break-in and burglary in the past few months. I was a victim to an attempted burglary of my vehicle that resulted in vandalism. The management is aware of these events that have happened but do not seem to be taking any steps to improve the area and prevent these incidents from happening. Suggestions have been given to management to help improve these grounds/area/residents but they seem to be ignored. While much of the vandalism has been in the parking areas at this time I am concerned that it may move to the apartments and put residents at some sort of risk. I will admit that I am naive when it comes to stuff like this, but I really don't trust this area and would not recommend this location to a friend. While the staff is nice and easy to get along with, I think public safety in the area is the main concern and don’t feel anything is being done about it to improve the area. The train tracks are very close and REALLY loud. It make it hard to have your windows open because it is hard to talk to others or listen to the TV when they go by. They go by really often. If you are a light sleeper, this place won’t be for you.
I lived in the Kendrick for four years (that's how I much I loved being there). The price is very reasonable for being so close to everything and all that you get. With the maintenance crew being very responsive and helpful along with a friendly, kind leasing office, it makes for a perfect place to call home. I loved having newer appliances especially the washer/dryer in the unit! It is great for college students, singles, couples and even small families. It is very homey since the "front door" is literally your front door, resort type feel. You really can't find a better place to rent midway between downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. I highly recommend checking this place out!
The Kendrick apartments are surrounded by trees and is walking distance to Como Park. The staircases are outside, allowing the residents to enjoy all four seasons of Minnesota all the way up to their doors. The staff and maintenance are helpful, friendly, and prompt. I love being able to have my patio and front door open and have the spring/summer/fall breeze fly through the living room. A peaceful little hideaway!
We live in a 1 bed 1 bath apartment it's about 600 sq ft. We have central heat and air which is really nice, also a washer and dryer. We have ABSOLUTELY no space for anything and the price we pay for this place (960/month) is not worth the tiny living space. We are also right next to the train tracks and they get noisy so we always have to keep the door shut. The outside entry is nice and the community is good, just too small for what we pay.
I have been living at the Kendrick Apartments since 2014 and have really enjoyed my time here. I actually just signed for another 12 month lease. The rent price cannot be beat for the location (right between St. Paul and Minneapolis) and other amenities found in these apartments. There's a washer/dryer in every unit which is a HUGE benefit, and fairly new appliances including a nice dishwasher. The management company in the office is professional and personable. The maintenance team rocks and keeps my apartment and grounds in great condition. If you have cats or dogs, this place welcomes them as well! Seriously, if you are looking to keep rent more affordable with great amenities, while staying between downtowns, this place is great.
