A quiet residential area, the Westwood neighborhood can be found northwest of the city center by three miles. Because it sits close to US Highway 131 and 43, the community provides a convenient neighborhood to enjoy daily life while remaining close to the city and within easy distance of Grand Rapids and Lake Michigan. Because Kalamazoo sits halfway between Chicago and Detroit, reaching those larger cities via Interstate 94 continues to be easy.
One of the things Kalamazoo has become nationally known for, the Kalamazoo Promise provides a four-year scholarship for all graduates of Kalamazoo Public Schools who have spent at least their high school years in the school system. In addition to the community college, Western Michigan University and the private Kalamazoo College call the city home. There are affordable rentals ranging from single-family homes to modern apartments.

Property Ratings at The Landing
Overall the apartments look and feel alright however we have been here for almost a year and the office sent out a memo about changing our air filters, never happened.. a lot of things don't get done.
It’s quick and easy access to everything and it’s cheap. Don’t let that fool you there is bed bugs, we had to throw ALL our stuff away and then we’re charged $200 when we threw big things like the couch in the designated area. Management is nice but no helpful at all. The pool is always disgusting there is almost always dirt or garbage in there. Maintenance is not knowledgeable at all when we first moved in we had no A/C for a week turns out the main breaker needed flipped. 10/10 don’t recommend this place at all
Property Manager at The Landing, Responded To This Review
We're sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience. We try our best to help when a resident reports bed bugs in their apartment. Each apartment is professionally cleaned and certified pest free - before anyone is permitted to move-in. We provide checklists at move-in and 24/7 maintenance. Unless we are notified by a resident, we are sometimes unaware of an issue. To better serve our community, we would be grateful for the opportunity to learn more from your feedback. You may reach us at (269) 349-9768 - ask for Kymi - or by email: landingmanager@trilliumventuresmsv.com.
Do not live here- BED BUGS! I would strongly recommend you not live in these apartments. My roommate and I discovered bed bugs on a Sunday morning. We had not traveled or been anywhere new so it was likely from the complex. Their maintenance worker told us they could have someone over on Monday and that they would cover the cost. They LIED. They tried to have us wait over a week until treatment and added a $500 bill to our rent. Incredibly disappointed with how they handled this. Management was disorganized and would regularly not answer or return emails and calls. Save yourself the stress. I do not feel comfortable in my own apartment.
A complete horror story! Save yourself and steer clear of this establishment ! 0 stars! First off when I moved in I could already tell it was trouble. The walls were so paper thin and the neighbors where terrible. They had small children and they would scream well into the wee hours of the night. The ceiling was constantly creaking and the walls would shake my pictures from the upstairs neighbors moving around. The 3rd floor residents bathroom flooded and guess where it ended up? Yep our bathroom. We lived next to the washer unit . It flooded our apt twice around midnight so no one even can to check on it till the morning. They "fixed" it by running some large fans (on our electricity bill) . As you know this doesn't bring out the dampness from the wood/ carpet or drywall. Which leads me to my favorite part of this whole experience.. Cockroaches and carpenter ants! Both lovers of moister. oh yes. they came out of the walls . They lived in our food, our clothes, our furniture. The complex ignored the situation for about a month. It seemed like a joke to them and they could care less about your health or safety. We had to stay in hotels , throw away most of our belongings, box up and tape shut (for the next 2-3 weeks) the rest of our belongings so not to bring the pests with us. We lost a bunch of money and I still have nightmares about this place! Hopefully my story can help someone else make an easy decision NOT to live here!!!!!!
Really nice area. Maintenance and the office staff are super friendly and helpful. I would recommend The Landing to anyone looking for an apartment.
Don’t waste your time and credit score! They will hit a hard inquiry on you’re credit, get you approved for a one bedroom, you talk to management agree on a day to bring security deposit and they email you one day prior saying oh sorry but it’s no longer available. And in the same breathe or sentence try to sell you a two bedroom that’s extra money! Do not waste your time and energy!!!!!
This is my first apartment and it's worth it for the price in Kalamazoo. We have one of the older apartments that aren't renovated and I wish we could've gotten one of the renovated apartments because they are soooo nice! Khala, who works in the main office, is amazing and all of the staff, including maintenance, has done an awesome job keeping the place clean and making sure things run smoothly. It's a quiet apartment complex for being right on West Main. I use CrimeMapping to see what's going on in my neighborhood and I have never seen any crimes (that were reported) within a mile of our apartment, so that was a HUGE plus for us. They allow pets so we rescued a kitty from craigslist and they were super awesome about the paperwork and fees. I recommend this place because it's a pretty crime-free neighborhood and the apartments are wonderful if you're just getting on your feet. The staff is awesome and I've never had a single issue with them.
This is the worst place I've ever lived. They are always so rude when I come in. They do not fix my maintenance requests, and when they do it is weeks later. There is a beeping in my laundry room that they told me they can't fix. They make excuses and are never nice about anything. If I could leave negative stars I would.
I have lived here for 3 years and I love the way I can get so many discounts from referring my friends to move in and turning in my grades. It's so close to WMU and KVCC but it's quite here. It seems like all of the students living here are working and in college. I can go to an actual gym at any time because it never closes. The two maintenance guys are very friendly and go out of their way to help me. They have everything online so it's so easy and hassle free to pay my rent, submit a work order, or ask the office ladies questions from any mobile device. And when I'm hungry I can go grab a bag of ramen noodles from the office.
