Property Ratings at The Langston
Current resident here! We have loved living here, we just hit our 1 year mark and released! The area is nice and has many restaurants so we’re never really stuck with the whole “what’s for dinner” question. Things were nice and the staff was nice (Julie and Pablo) until we met a staff member by the name of Alex. Personally, we feel that he is not friendly towards us for whatever reason but everyone has different experiences. Recently, there has been nobody in the leasing office so we haven’t been able to reach anyone for any issues. If there has been someone, they haven’t been there during the posted hours. Nor have they notified us of closing early as they’re supposed to do. There is a roach infestation in the courtyard that we live right off of on the 2nd floor. We can’t open our back door without them trying to run in. It’s horrid. I’m a huge clean freak and we pay monthly for pest control so we never thought we would come across this issue but here we are. Hopefully someone can see this since we can never seem to reach anybody in office. Thanks!
The location of the Langston is great and my actual apartment is fine but they don't have the latest features like key fob entry and Nest thermostats, most places do in this price range. I have lived here for 6 months and my 2 biggest complaints are the maintenance of the building and the mail. The lobby and office area are gorgeous, but if you look at any other floor in the building the floors always look dirty and the areas around the elevators are most often dirty as well. No one ever wipes down walls near the elevators and light bulbs go months without being replaced. The common areas always look run down and dirty, this includes stairwells as well. Mail is managed horribly. Mail room is too small and there is zero consistency on how UPS and FED EX are delivered, so you are constantly tracking down your packages. Overall, the complex needs a more experienced management team or the current team needs to put more effort into maintaining all of the common areas. Honestly, with so many places available in this price range I wouldn't recommend this one.
I have lived here pretty much since it opened and the management has switched more times than years it's been open. The new management seems nice enough but some things just don't change. The hallways always have the faint smell of garbage because they make you use valet trash, so the hall is filled with trash overnight. It's pretty hard to get rid of the smell even when the garbage is gone because there is no ventilation/circulation. The carpets are stained because of this and look raggedy. The elevator lobbies on each of the floors are gross, the walls are stained terribly. It needs cleaned and/or repainted terribly. You have nothing to do while waiting for the elevator then to look at the gross walls. I walked by vomit in the parking garage last night and it's still there today. And car break ins are super common as there isn't secure or gated parking. The side door was broken into the building for weeks and management didn't seem to care. The area is great though with lots to talk to and the residents are nice.
I absolutely love the location! Situated in the heart of Elizabeth amid great restaurants, The Langston is ideal for professionals who enjoy dining out and relaxing with friends after a long day. Residents will soon be able to enjoy the convenience of having the trolley less than two blocks away when Phase 2 construction is complete. The staff here are friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to accommodate. I've only lived here for less than a month and they already know me by name. If you're considering moving to the area, I highly recommend scheduling a tour.
This place looks great and is a wonderful location so I got a lease and moved in at the beginning of this month. Literally every single interaction since paying my application fee is unprofessional and terrible. First of all they changed managers before I moved in and the person that I signed the lease with left without giving me the appropriate paperwork to complete my move-in. The manager currently on property was completely unprofessional and rude to me because I did not have the correct information on move-in day. The first two weeks in the Apartment I discover that my fridge doesn’t work and after multiple maintenance requests that are close without being completed no one from the management here or the corporate managers a run this place will communicate with me about when this will be resolved. I dread anything else going wrong because I do not have faith that anyone here is competent enough to do anything right. Avoid this place at all cost.

Hi there, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience! Thanks for taking the time to leave a review.
I have lived at The Langston since July 2017 and love it. The community of people here are friendly and kind. I cannot say that I've had the same experience with previous apartments in Charlotte. Mike and his team are always friendly and offer help/support when needed. I would recommend living here.

Thanks for a 5 star review and recognizing our team!
I've been living at The Langston for 2 months now, and couldn't be happier with the facility and our new management. The rooms are spacious and the facility is kept meticulously clean and friendly by management. The management responds to requests quickly, often finding innovative solutions, and I'm excited to meet other tenants with the new events planned!
If you've heard anything bad about the Langston, that was before the new management team came on. Mike and Katie are so great, they had their work cut out for them. Already in the first week they've taken over, the place is cleaner, smells better, the common areas are stocked and functioning properly and they've taken care of things that I've heard multiple residents complain about and they're more professional in general. They ask questions too and are actually looking for feedback. The apartments themselves are very nice and spacious (we moved from a house into an apartment and the transition has been great) and I have never had a problem finding a parking spot. Also, you really couldn't ask for a better location, we are so close to everything!
