Wedged between the Schuylkill River and Drexel University and including part of the University of Pennsylvania, the 30th Street Station neighborhood borrows its name from its most prominent (and busiest) feature: the 30th Street SEPTA station. This neighborhood is directly across the river from downtown, and its easy access to mass transit and Philadelphia's major universities make it a popular destination for apartment renters.
Extremely walkable and featuring historic architecture and wide streets, 30th Street Station is ideal for those looking for an urban neighborhood near everything. The neighborhood features a variety of outdoor cafes, unique shops, and the picture-perfect Penn Park. Residents of 30th Street Station also enjoy easy access to Penn Museum, Franklin Field, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, World Café Live, and the Palestra.

Property Ratings at The Left Bank Apartments
Do not seek this place unless the location is your only requirement. The management of this apartment is so bad, and you will find there is no way to find someone in charge to solve your concern or problem. The experience is bad for how bad the trash room is and how long it would take to fix some problems in your room. The move-out is extremely terrible and you will be charged for no reason. The charge is never discussed with you and it's hard to communicate with them on time. In summary, just don't pick this place unless the location is the only thing you care. Considering the high price of this apartment, I would definitely give it a 1 star.

Hello. Thank you for providing your feedback. We apologize if at any time you felt our customer service did not meet your expectations. Any concerns expressed or that may have been previously missed, we would certainly take the time to address. I am surprised to hear our maintenance team was not responsive to your service requests. They are praised by so many of our residents and can complete most service requests within 24 to 48 hours. At the time of move out damages are documented and photographed. When an apartment is not left in good condition, damages are assessed and charged and are reflected in the final account statement. In Left Bank’s lease agreement, all additional charges or fees are provided. We would like to address your experience here at Left Bank more directly. We would need your contact information to look into your feedback more specifically. Please feel free to reach out to me at ICanHelp@aircommunities.comso we can discuss further. - Susan
Tho only good thing about this place is it’s location The management is horrible Two months after I moved in they started construction work on the parking garage and the buildings walls, the noise was so loud I couldn’t here people in my living room, I have a little baby who couldn’t sleep and continued to be fussy, there is also no privacy, one day there were construction workers outside my window with no previous emails from management telling us this could happen, I was pumping milk for my baby when it happened I called multiple times to complains and was only answered once, they never returned the voicemails I left and my request of being relocated to another apartment was denied, more than half the apartments on my floor were vacant so this could’ve been an easy solution

I am a master's student in Upenn. The left bank is very near to Upenn and it's very convenient for me to go to school. The amenities are perfect. The most part I like is it is very quiet and I could focus on my study. It is very safe and not so far from downtown. Love it!

Hello! thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review! We do have a great location to the university and so much more. We are very pleased you are happy with your home and all that our community has to offer. We appreciate and value your thoughts and feedback! -Susan
The entryway and halls look pretty nice and fancy, but wherever your expensive U City rent is going, it isn't going into maintenance. There are four elevators that serve the entire building, and yet the building has had 8 unplanned outages in the 6 months that I've been a tenant. The heavily advertised rooftop patio was inaccessible for much of the summer as the result of some of those outages. I was also sold my apartment on the promise of a city view, but the two-pane windows are so compromised by moisture that there is mildew growing between the panes. I've been told that these issues will be resolved sometime in the next year. In the meantime, I'm still paying the high rent. Other minor issues are annoying as well: such as maintenance taking 3 months to address my move-in maintenance checklist, maintenance scratching up the floor when repairing the washer, and sliding closet doors that pop right off of their cheap tracks. Given the high cost of rent to live here, I expected better service.

I have been living here for 3 months only and I needed to submit requests to fix the refrigerator, the washer snd the disposal ! No one checked the apartment before my moving in date . I can not sleep at night due to the permitted noise coming from the on site restaurant ( DJ music every Tuesday and Thursday). And this is a lie ( with complimentary package collection with optional in-home delivery) you will be asked to pay 50 dollars / year for packages and no one will help you to take your package home.
Although we are preparing to move my daughter out following graduation, I wanted to write this review and say how fortunate we were to have her live at The Left Bank during her stay in Philadelphia. She has enjoyed a beautiful and spacious apartment with great amenities, and she has had an easy walk to school. From Day 1, we were impressed with the leasing process and had the pleasure of working with Daxx throughout. He was so patient, helpful, and professional, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. And it simply continued as we moved in and had the pleasure of meeting Meghan, who worked her magic as a concierge and made the moving process much less stressful. The staff have all been great though, and the amenity upgrades completed last year are quite impressive! I would strongly recommend The Left Bank, especially if you are looking for an apartment within walking distance of UPenn or Drexel but also want an easy walk into Center City...you won't be disappointed!!
We are into our second year at The Left Bank, and we are loving it. Our spacious and updated three bedroom apartment feels like home. But more than the lovely amenities such as the modern gym and newly renovated common areas, we appreciate the quality and character of the people who work here. The maintenance staff respond to any problem immediately, the building is immaculate and security is excellent. Every request or concern is addressed graciously and conscientiously. It's a lovely feature to have coffee or tea and often fresh baked cookies in the lobby-- our guests appreciate that as well. The daytime concierge, Eddie Bowman , is amazingly efficient with the massive amounts of mail arriving daily- especially at this time of year, and is always so helpful whether suggesting a vegetarian restaurant or the best way to get tickets to a sporting event. His Friday update of Philadelphia happenings is a great way to start the weekend. This time of year, when the lobby is filled with poinsettias and good cheer is everywhere, is the right time to say Thank You to the Left Bank! Kate and Jerry M
I love my large, unique apartment! I am here on a 3 year rotation with CHOP, and when I started looking for an apartment close enough to walk to work, at first I was disappointed. While many of the apartment buildings were new, they were also tiny. I like to relax and have friends over in my free time, and this was definitely not going to happen in the new, tiny, box like apartments. Then, I found the Left Bank. What a gem, right in University City. The apartments are huge, loft style apartments like you would find in NY City, and all very distinctive. I ended up choosing a 1 bedroom apartment with a raised den, and I absolutely love it, It has 14 ft ceilings and very large windows to let in a lot of light. I face the courtyard, which is very nice and very quiet. The apartment is very modern with its stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and hardwood floors. It has a pantry, plenty of cabinet space, 2 walk in closets and a huge bedroom and bathroom, plenty of room for having friends over. The concierges here are extremely helpful and courteous. The maintenance staff is very responsive, and they keep the building immaculate. It even smells good when you enter the building. Management is also very responsive and courteous. Twice, I've caught the manager leaving her office to go home at the end of the day, only to have her ask me to come inside, sit down and see what I need. That's what I call service! I highly recommend the Left Bank, especially if you want a nice, large, distinctive apartment.
I just moved into The Left Bank this summer and I absolutely love my apartment. I have friends that moved into one of the newer buildings close by, and they have all sorts of problems with their "new" apartment and with the service there. Plus, its so small that we cannot gather there, rather when we get together, we come to my apartment here at the Left Bank, as their apartment is too small to entertain. Maintenance here is great, even though I've only had one issue, they were here immediately to resolve the issue. The building is kept immaculate, and its very quiet here as compared to other places I've visited. Denise, the manager is also great. She keeps us informed of everything, has some nice resident events, and even runs a weekly football contest. She is always available for questions and even answers emails at night and on weekends. Management here is top notch! Highly recommend The Left Bank over the newer buildings in the area.
Each man and woman comes to a point in their young adult life, sometime around or before graduating college, that their priorities change. The comforts they seek in whatever residence they call home begin to look differently. In the early college years, one might welcome the dorm life, in all its open door culture and the excitement involved with meeting so many new people. A couple years into the mix and one might even embrace the lifestyle of renting out a house with a few good, close friends. Even if the house isn't exactly new, or clean, or in peak livable condition. It's a sacrifice that's worth making in the name of having a private residence and a house full of friends that feel almost like family. But you might find yourself needing something else once you get a wee bit older. Something with a little more class than the house, more privacy than a traditional college or dorm, and something that really supports you as a large child trying to learn what it means to finally become an functional adult in society. At this point, you might dream up the ideal, perfect apartment to live in, and think about all of the ways it would be the best place to live, ever. That place, my friends, is The Left Bank. Let me start by saying, living in this apartment building has been absolutely surreal. It's the stuff of novels and movies. Sometimes I feel like I'm the character in a Wes Anderson movie, with all it's aesthetic wonder and quirky awesomeness. Like the concierge, my personal friend, Curtis. Curtis is strikingly the most knowledgeable concierge (and person) you will ever meet. He is a lively man who takes pride in his job, and though he loves to talk to residents and get to know them, conversations may be abruptly postponed due to a call to duty. Curtis doesn't always have time to talk, but when he does, he speaks with wisdom. He is, the most interesting concierge in the world. The apartments themselves are beautiful high ceiling lofts with hardwood floors, carpeting in the rooms, central air and heating, and large windows that allow in a tremendous amount of natural light (and a gorgeous view of the city). Since it's mostly adults and families living in the building, it's always quiet. I have space, privacy, comfort, cleanliness, and quality. This family style residence is the peaceful, luxurious home space every new adult needs in their life. Growing up has it's perks, too. Like Curtis.
