Apartment complex is very old, no molding was replaced before I moved in. Carpet is old. Everything is just old. Maintenance takes about 4-6 months to respond. Mailboxes are falling apart, got my mail stolen several times, even my credit card got stolen. Parking is very non-existent, the expect you to pay $45 for each additional parking port. There is only about 20-30 free parking spots, there other 90-100 spots are all paid. Overall 1.5/5 Rent is a bit too much for what you're getting. Gate is nice though.

This place is trash. Literally. There is trash overflowing 5 days out of 7. All through the parking lot. I hate living here. Nothing for kids... When was that photo taken of the big toy? 1992? Because 90% of that big toy is missing! And that was the one and only thing for the kids to do here. We currently have no maintenance person at all and haven't for a couple of months. You do the math. No work orders are being done and we are living in squalor, while expected to continue to pay full Market rent. This property management company should be ashamed of themselves at least and investigated by a housing authority at best. Living conditions are abhorrent. It's 30 degrees outside & I have no working heater. The poor manager... She is doing the bet she can while being ignored by her higher ups at Avenue5. Avenue5 is low budget, low class, & couldn't care LESS about their residents. I bet when I notify KCHA that all my work orders are being ignored, it's going to be a show then. I'm hitting every social media platform I can... Let's see this raggedy property management company go viral for the bad reason they should. If I was the manager I'd jump ship now. Get out while you can! You seem WAY too good for this place.

I have lived in this community for almost 2 years and there wasn't a lot great that I could say about it until recently. When Q took over as the property manager, Q has continually and consistently worked hard to improve their image not only as being warm, friendly and inviting (Which wasn't the case in the past) to making sure the residence here feel comfortable and as safe as possible. It is evident that the owners don't care. I feel bad for her because she shoulders a lot of the issues from the tenets, but holds her head up and is always a consummate professional in every way. I enjoy living here a little more now and hopefully more changes will be made from the office managers/owners to make this a better place to want to live and call home. This is my 2nd year here at The Lighthouse Apartments and it has gone through a few managements, good and bad. I thoroughly loved when Jerry and Melanie were here, and I like the new management currently with Q, these people have made living in these apartments great. I felt like I could always depend on them and that they actually cared for me and a lot of the other residents. Whenever I needed something from any of them, I always got taken care of. I was sad to see Melanie and Jerry go, but the new manager Q is great and hopefully will stay around for a while. The area is convenient since everything is right around the corner, just great to live here.

The Lighthouse is my "home" to come home to- in many respects. I've lived here 3 years and was ready to move when my lease was up. Due to problems with prior management, and throughout a series of personal transitions, I was going to move because this place was going downhill fast. Melany & Jerry really turned this place around They have made the place feel warm and inviting - more than the average apartment complex. I see residents stopping by the office now just to say hi, get a a hug or a cup of coffee, sharing their most recent news, and always ask me how my day is going. I perceive a deep feeling of family and friendship -The negativity that was here before consistently changes toward positiveness and the place is finally being cared for. Jerry gets my work orders done quickly and efficiently and the yards always looks clean now. I wish there were more parking spaces as it is sometimes hard to find a place to park but I suppose this is because the apartments are full. The location is superb. Restaurants, Target and the Kent Station and more are literally right down the street - quick, easy, and efficient. All this to say: home, family, and community all in one place. I am glad I renewed my lease and stayed.

This apartment complex is not doing well. Constant break-ins to all the mailboxes, drug dealers in and out all night long because nobody in all of management can figure out how to program it so criminals can't hack it so it stays open all night. I've found homeless people going to the bathroom in and around the garbage dumpsters. And all this with a note taped on my door saying my rent is going up $200/mo. to be able to stay in this lovely complex. The ditches around here are looking more and more comfortable everyday.
