Property Ratings at The Links at Manhattan
they sent the statement of deposit. I learned they charged cleaning, carpet replacement, painting, and CLEANING AFTER PAINTING and CARPET REPLACEMENT. Don't you think that they are responsible for the cleaning after painting?? I have lived in 3-4 apartments in MHK but this place is the worst. Don't ever consider it.
This place is awful. Not conveniently located to anything in Manhattan except the middle school. Dog “droppings” everywhere so you can’t walk without watching your every step. I’ve seen 3-4 cars have their windshield smashed by college kids using the golf course. The management here is the icing on the cake. If there’s any sort of issue, they say it’s YOUR fault and that you should “be more careful”. Maintenance guys are creepy and caught one them looking through my belongings when they were supposed to be changing my air filter. Don’t give this place your money. Far better apartment complexes in Manhattan for the price. Not to mention the price increases every year you’re here so it will only get higher.
No place to park. Abandoned unlicensed wrecked vehicles are in the parking lot despite signs posted everywhere that they will be towed . Pool is full of people drinking openly on the weekend even though the first rule is Absolutely No Alcohol, People party on their patio decks till 4 a m. Substance that looks like Mold grows in apartments
If I could rate this place zero stars, I would in a heartbeat. This place looks so nice on the outside and when you’re initially touring it but once you sign the lease, EVERYTHING CHANGES. People in the office are so rude once you move in. Like come on, I know your job sucks but you could at least act like you know the basics of customer service. The management is TERRIBLE. I understand that it’s a big complex and a national chain but they are just so bad at managing things. There have been multiple occasions where they made a mistake but blamed tenants for it. Recently, they forgot to bill several buildings, if not the whole complex, $25.00 for water. Rent is due on the 1st - residents receive a utilities bill usually the week before that includes the whole total of your rent and utilities. The complex didn’t bill the $25.00 until the 1st, didn’t let anyone know until the 3rd/4th, and slapped everyone with a late charge notice. They printed out, wrote the address, and hand delivered the notices to the buildings (we’re talking hundreds of people) and didn’t think to themselves “huh, lots of people are late on a $25 charge. Maybe we messed up and should notify them of the mistake.” Like seriously?? You couldn’t email the complex and mention the mistake and add it to the next month? You had to give everyone a letter that said we’ll be charged for being late when it’s your mistake? Don’t even think about getting your deposit back no matter how much you clean. Advice from past residents is just clean enough so you don’t get an extra charge. You know that rule about giving 24 hours notice before entering in your apartment? Well that doesn’t exist here! My neighbor had maintenance come into her apartment several times (to fix something they damaged) without telling her. I was the one to notify her. Parking is terrible. Cars sit in spots for months on end (one has been there for over a year) and they don’t do anything about it. They don’t regulate guests or anything so often times, you can’t find a spot near your building. Not terrible but females walking alone at night should be aware of that issue. The apartments themselves are just cheaply made. Our dishwasher barely cleans our dishes, despite several attempts to clean it. The vinyls floors in the kitchen are coming up. MOLD GROWS ON THE WINDOWS. It’s in between the top and bottom panels and nothing gets done about it. Overall, just an awful, awful place to live. Spend your money elsewhere.
Worst place I've ever lived. Constant fight with mold, nothing in the lease is enforced expect when it involves the company getting money from you. Dog poop is littered through out the property and worst of all is it doesn't matter how well you leave you aprtment unless you have a receipt saying you had a professional clean, clean carpets and paint you can kiss all of your deposit good bye. Management will not work with you at all.
They're miserable to work with and when one of my locks broke they took about 3 days to come to fix it because people were moving in that week. It took 5 min to fix. They look nice but are built poorly. e.g. The air conditioning is improperly sized and my closet shelf broke 2x. I was also hung up on when my mom was also on the line trying to help me figure some issues out.
Be careful when signing the application (doubles as a lease agreement in disguise). We were charged a 30 dollar application fee per person non-refundable, which we understood. However, MONTHS prior to actually moving in, the apartments charged a 250 deposit to our account without authorization! Of course, because of this sketchy event, we called and inquired. They had said it is just to hold your spot on the list and it would be refundable. When we decided to cancel our application later, they said that the $250 was also an application fee, along with the $30, and is non-refundable. Later we found out your application is actaully your lease in one, SKETCHY!
I lived here one year and absolutely loved it! The total price you pay is beyond worth it, especially when looking at all of the included amenities! The grounds are always kept extremely clean, maintenance shows up in a timely manner, all of the employees are extremely nice and well mannered! I have no complaints!
I have lived here for two years & love it! They have great, well-kept amenities & 24/7 maintenance for emergencies. It's in a great location with the best views & it's so quiet, I've never had a problem studying. The office staff is very nice and helpful. I haven't had a single issue with this complex in the two years I have lived here. I would (& do) recommend this place to anyone!
the staff is super friendly, i just love the whole complex's aesthetic. i think this s a great place to live!
I have enjoyed my experience here. Mostly the amenities and the nice staff.
I've had a great experience living here! New apartments, well kept, great amenities! The front office staff is friendly and has been very helpful in answering any of my questions! I haven't had any problems with paying rent the whole time I've lived here. They make it easy to pay through the rental portal online. I've also had a good experience getting help from maintenance when something goes out. One time my breaker shorted and my bedroom lights went out. Maintenance was there within the next day to get it fixed and even left a note confirming what they worked on! Overall, I love the apartment that I live in and feel very safe living in this community. I would highly recommend The Links to anybody looking for their next home!
A great experience staying here! The management is very professional and helpful.
Except not to get your deposit back regardless of how clean you leave it. Apparently it’s “in the lease section 23” Also, the leasing agents need better training. They have awful attitudes and don’t know how to give a clear answer. SCHEDULE A WALK THROUGH WHEN YOU MOVE OUT BECAUSE THEY WILL TELL YOU, YOU DONT NEED TO ... but will take your whole deposit. Also, they won’t charge you utilities for the first two month and of course will charge you later on.
I originally chose this place because the rent seemed reasonable for Manhattan, it offered several amenities, and it was new. I should have kept looking. I could rant about this complex and its problems all day, but I'll narrow it down to a few minor points. 1) Communication - The office relies on notes they put in the frame of your door to announce scheduled maintenance and other information, but these often blow away and aren't given to residents in a timely fashion. The office staff will answer the same question a different way each time you ask, so you basically just have to go with what the last person said and hope that you did it the right way. 2) Maintenance - My A/C broke EIGHT times in the year that I lived there. I gave up on putting in requests via the online portal because the guy wouldn't come in a timely fashion when it was 100+ degrees outside. When I mentioned during one of my calls how many times it had broken I was told that I must be mistaken because there weren't that many requests on my account, because they were deleting requests. Super frustrating. 3) Unprofessional - During one visit by staff into my apartment they opened up my dog's kennel and let her out. I came home and my apartment was not how I left it and my dog was running around my living room when I had locked her kennel and zipped her crate cover shut before I left for work. I was not notified that anyone would be in my apartment that day, and it is completely unacceptable to touch my belongings and to mess with my dog. She now has severe anxiety around new people that I am having to pay a trainer to help her overcome. 4) Money - This also goes back to the poor communication, but each time I was told that something was refundable originally it would later become non-refundable. It's ridiculous that you are charged $250 for a deposit and they won't refund it even if you don't sign a lease. Absolutely absurd!
This apartment complex will do anything to eat your money. i have had to pay rent double in a month because their system was messed up and said it did not come out of my bank account. I have proof on my bank account that it came out. They have also shut off my ability to pay online even though we must pay rent in this way.
