Wedged between Monroe Street and Thomasville Road, the Lake Ella neighborhood separates Midtown from Midtown West. Lake Ella is about one mile north of Downtown Tallahassee. The neighborhood's namesake lake provides beauty and recreation, surrounded by moss-filled trees, a walking path, and picnic areas. Because Lake Ella is next door to one of Tallahassee's most popular neighborhoods -- Midtown -- it is home to a variety of shops, restaurants, and cafes. Residents enjoy the Liberty Bar and Restaurant, RedEye Coffee-Midtown, and Midtown Caboose.

Property Ratings at The Lofts at Lake Ella
Zero peace. Road noise and bass boxes will keep you up all night. Looks like a really cool complex at first, until you move in. Neighbors are fussy/odd. Laundry room is a joke. Bad smells and toxic wash water. Homeless all around the complex. AC didn't work well. Apartment was a 5 out of 10 as far as mid grade units go. Nothing really worked. When it did, not very well. Management was so off. Some really weird habits. Never really felt relaxed. Oh, yes and the commercial leaf blower at 8am everyday in your window. The lofts looks awesome at first but it's not. Save the trouble and don't do it. The lofts at lake ella we're a total waste of life.
The apartments are recently renovated with new appliances and flooring and conveniently located. That’s where the positives stop. Our apartment had a roach problem and they allowed us to move in on a Friday without telling us about the bugs. We couldn’t contact management until Monday. Pest control does not spray inside units unless the tenant makes a written request to management. After 4 treatments, and making management actually caulk and seal the bathroom they went away for a month. We were supposed to have an elimination treatment but management kept scheduling it when the office was closed so we never received the service. Well guess what, the roaches are back. I saw two crawl out of the smoke detector. They’re living inside the walls and coming in through dozens of cracks that management doesn’t maintain. We’re also having a hard time getting rid of the nest under the fridge. They’re pest control response is not comprehensive, it’s like throwing a rubber ball at a mountain. They will not treat the whole building so the problem will never fully go away. We also had mold on our window sill when we moved in. They did take out the damaged window sill and put some plywood in temporarily. But it’s been two months and no one has come back to finish the repairs and repaint our wall. Management uses excuses like “well it’s a 45 year old building you can’t expect us to clean each corner of every unit between tenants” and emphasizing that it’s a “Florida” problem. This is not a Florida problem, this is an understaffed and overburdened management company that can’t and won’t maintain its property. Don’t let the cosmetic renovation fool you, this place is in rough shape.
This is the perfect location if you want to be if you want to be in midtown near shops, restaurants, unique bars and be right next to beautiful Lake Ella.. The staff is very helpful and there are so many things to do within walking distance you may forget you have a car 8-)
