About The Lofts at Wamsutta Place
Before there were loft apartments at Wamsutta Place, textile mills on this site turned out linens and clothing for over 150 years. The building was completely renovated and re-opened in 2008, preserving the buildings' bird's eye and tiger maple floors, high ceilings and original beams, and expansive windows. The Lofts are a short drive to the cobblestone streets of downtown New Bedford and to the banks of the Acushnet River and Buzzard's Bay. Unit Amenities: - Oversized units - Stainless steel appliances - Original hardwood maple floors - Custom stone countertops - Individual central heating and a/c - 13 foot ceilings - Large windows with window treatments - Walk-in closets - Front door intercom system - Washer/dryer hookups - Exposed beam and plank

New Bedford’s storied past as a prominent whaling port in the 19th century has earned the city the nickname “the Whaling City.” Modern-day New Bedford boasts a working waterfront that is considered to be America’s number one fishing port, supporting a bevy of commercial and recreational boats. New Bedford honors its rich history in its vibrant downtown area, which is teeming with museums, art galleries, diverse shops, restaurants, and cafes in historic buildings along cobblestone streets.
Renting an apartment or house in New Bedford means getting to enjoy a close-knit community feel, which is fostered by an array of annual events like the Taste of Southcoast, Folk Festival, Jazz Festival, Blues Festival, Working Waterfront Festival, Wine Festival, Oktoberfest, and the Summer Sound Series.

Property Ratings at The Lofts at Wamsutta Place
My partner and I lived here for 9 months from 2020-2021. It was a good place to live! The apartment itself was beautiful-- the windows were gorgeous of course. It was very clean; we never had any issued with mold, bugs, etc. All of the appliances worked well. Maintenance was quick to respond when something broke-- which only happened once or twice during our lease. Our biggest issue with the apartment was the noise from our upstairs neighbors. Since it is an older building, we could hear everything they did. We could hear whole conversations sometimes (every word) and their footsteps as they moved through the apartment. We got woken up early almost every morning when our neighbor was getting ready for work. Management was pretty unhelpful with this specific thing-- which I understand because it was just day-to-day noise, amplified by the old building. However, the first time we brought it to their attention, they were pretty rude/dismissive. The second time we spoke with them about it, they were much more kind and helpful, but ultimately there was not much that could be done. That being said, I really loved the apartment itself. It was a truly beautiful place to live. It is decently located-- a short drive from downtown. There is also a marina very close by with some restaurants and nice views of boats. All in all, it was a great apartment.
Pro's: 1. Management/Front end ladies are awesome. They will always make sure you feel at home. 2. We loved our open space, and how much freedom we had to make our place our home. 3. If you have a pet, the dog park is BEAUTIFUL! 4. on site laundry and the option to purchase your own washer dryer for your unit. 5. Quick response to any maintenance requests! 6. It is truly a family community. Everyone is always willing to help you no matter the situation. 7. The ladies that keep the hallways and buildings clean are serious angels. They are so sweet and are always sure to say hello and ask you about your day. Cons: 1. Noise - there is little to no sound buffer between floors. If you are a light sleeper you will need a sound machine. During the day you can hear people talking, walking, coughing. At night, when things quiet down you can hear your upstairs neighbors cooking dinner, doing dishes, GETTING INTO BED... you can just imagine what else you can here. 2. To go along with the above this is an old mill. The floor boards do not have anything between them. Your upstairs neighbor has a flood? your apartment has a leak. Your upstairs neighbors pet has an accident? it'll be in your apartment. 3. Mail. We have a mail room but Amazon, USPS, FedEx, UPS never use it. be ready to go on a wild goose chase for your packages. 4.Extra Tall Windows. Although they are beautiful, be ready for high electric bills in the winter ($300-$400) due to the draft.
The lofts at wamsutta is a very unorganized place. People do not pick up after there dogs and parking is horrible. In the beginning I was satisfied however towards then end of my lease my car was hit in the parking lot! When I moved here they told me they had on duty security and cameras. But I guess there cameras were limited and didn't see anything ?! I am just trying to find a great legit place for my girlfriend and I. We both work full time at market basket and deserve to come home to clean hallways and our cars to have an assigned place to park. Please apartments.com help us out !
This is a nice place to live. It is the old Wamsutta sheets factory where they made the sheets that where sent to hotels in France. I find is an interesting place to live just thinking about walking on the original floors or walking through the halls who use to work or walk through these same halls. The lofts are real nice Sometimes I wonder if maybe we may have some spirits that live here too. Maybe the Ghost-hunters need to visit
