Property Ratings at The Magnolia Collection - Magnolian, Magno...
My boyfriend and I moved here in 2018 before the latest management and we have really seen the building turn around. Bradley and UV Res. have done a great job and making resident life easier and upgrading the building/units. The neighborhood is great and quiet as well
My girlfriend lived here for two years and the management was terrible. I could go on with a list of issues the apartment had -- including getting mailboxes ripped off and stolen and taking months to get a replacement. The list does not stop there. This apartment complex has probably had 4-5 managers during the 2 years and i believe 2-3 management companies. None of them were receptive to email inquiries. They don't properly instruct tenants of processes and how to pay for utilities.
I called 7/6/20 and talked to a great representative (Mindy) who gave me a lot of detail on available apartments and asked if I wanted to see them this week. I called back the next day to confirm a time to view the apartments on 7/9/20 (I had to check when my parter was available). The representative I talked to 7/7 (not Mindy) said that the apartments wouldn't be available until 8/3 or 8/8 (which I already knew and am fine with). However, this rep also said the apartments weren't vacated and had to be fully renovated after they're vacated so there'd be nothing for me to see until at least 8/3 or 8/8. Not only that, but there's no confirmation that the pictures online are of the units I'm interested and not a random other unit. I got conflicting answers for when the property manager would be around (either 7/9 or 7/13) so I'm just going to move on with my search and look for other apartments. How can I be expected to sign a lease for the beginning of August if I can't see the apartment until the beginning of August?
Pros: Great view of Ballard, decent rent price, fairly quite Cons: Move in date was 12/8/18 supposedly to a “move in ready” apartment. When we got there, we found so many issues that we couldn’t use just the provided sheet and gave the complex an extra week to fix the issues. We noted 46 things to fix including: mold under all sinks and in window corners, the dirty/not working oven, water pouring from the shower handle, the handle which was falling off the bedroom door, the really poor paint/patch work and replacement of the appliances/bathroom hardware we were informed would be happening. When we came back in on 12/15/18, few of the items on the list were taken care of. It has been a month and a half since then and we still don’t have a working oven (it was replaced but 1 wire doesn’t work and its “on back order”). We were told the information given to us by our guide was incorrect and we would not be getting new appliances. We informed the landlord the dishwasher doesn’t work; to which we were told it would be tested. It has not been. We informed the landlord the drawers and cabinet doors did not open/close correctly, to which the landlord said, “all the cabinets would need to be replaced to get them to work correctly and we cannot do that”. We informed them this wasn’t true, the screws just need to be replaced to hold the rails better and the hinges needed to be realigned. He told us they would look at it. Nothing has happened with this either. We were informed that the washer/dryer that was supposed to be in our unit was delayed because the contractor they were using had “disappeared”. Management has fixed a few things on the list and made small attempts to compensate us for this but it is becoming increasingly frustrating living at Magnolia apartments. All maintenance items apparently need to be “ordered” as opposed to being purchased at a local store. There is no sense of urgency. The units around us have had their appliances replaced during the month and a half in which we’ve been unable to cook in our home. We are trying to be patient and understanding through this however, we seem to be an after thought at all times, if at all. We will update this review as things progress.
