Virginia Beach is a large city of nearly half a million people, perched on the Atlantic coast between Chesapeake Bay and the North Carolina state line. Supporting a thriving local economy of its own, Virginia Beach is also a popular home base for folks who work in neighboring Norfolk and beyond, largely thanks to the incredible array of things to do in your down time.
The Sandler Center for the Performing Arts attracts major national performers and Broadway musicals, as well as popular local and regional acts. Throughout the year, you can always catch live shows at Farm Bureau Live, the city's 20,000-seat outdoor concert amphitheater. During the summer, Atlantic Boulevard comes alive at night; family-friendly street performers line the street, and bands play at a number of stages set up on the beach, in parks, and on the boardwalk.

Property Ratings at The Marq
Extremely expensive and they will raise your rent $200+ at lease end. Tons of hidden fees, rent website isn’t even itemized (to hide the fees?) and the front desk is rude when asked for clarification on why my rent is $300 more than normal (extra water bill?). Paint on the walls in the apartment is comically bad- look at it sideways and it’s smudged. Water bugs galore even though I have a very clean apartment. My apartment frequently smells like weed (and I do not smoke- Smoke free apartment complex, where?). Ventilation is terrible, always smells funky in the hallways and apartments. Expect a fire truck visit at least once a week. Not safe due to building design, fire truck can’t properly fit around. Elevator frequently breaks and there’s only one per building (who planned that, seriously?- Have fun trying to move in!) New front office staff is extremely rude every time I call. Amenities are sub par for the rent paid, the pool sucks- can only have two guests and no sauna or hot tub like comparable apartments. What even is that playground? Dog park? Apartment “events” consist of stale cookies once a year, and they can’t use covid as an excuse anymore. Living on the fifth floor is not as great as it seems, because if you ever have a guest or a delivery you have to go get the person yourself. Think it’s a secure building? No. The front door is almost always open. Trash fairies are unreliable and it’s a half-mile to the nearest trash chute. Was promised a storage locker, never got one and emails ignored. Have lived here almost a year and nobody has come and done any regular maintenance I didn’t ask for. I can hear everything that happens in the hallway. My shower has mold developing. Parking situation is extremely pitiful. I thought the apartment itself was beautiful but it’s a facade. The day I can move out will be the best day ever and I’ve seen many neighbors leaving with the same sentiments.

Nothing about this place is worth the ridiculous amount of money you pay to live here. Not even living here 6 months the entire BUILDING had at least several false fire alarms go off from 11 at night to 2 in the morning. It is NOT dog friendly. There is trash everywhere on the grounds and the appliances are broken at least every other week. The pools open at the most inconvenient hours to enjoy it IF it’s open and don’t plan on getting your packages. The staff is constantly changing and the interior paint you can tell is the cheapest paint they could find. Don’t expect your deposit back and to be charged the maximum for damages when you leave. I gave it a one because I can’t leave a zero stars review.
I’m getting ready to move out at the end of this month. And I can honestly say for this being my first apartment it was great. Me and my husband took a tour of this place back in July and ended up moving in the next day! The inside is beautiful. When there was an issue with our AC they resolved the problem quickly and put in a new thermostat since ours was broken. You definitely get what you pay for. Only downfall is the price has went up quiet a bit over the past few months. I really liked one of the guys who was working here previously now there is a new lady here. If there’s an issue with one of your cars they will tow it without any type of warning . And the people living here don’t know how to clean after there dogs . But overall I’d live here longer if I could but the rent has become unaffordable:(

During construction I came to visit the complex several times. The property manager at that time was great. I was excited to move in however that got delayed for a couple of months. Pros: -I loved my apartment -Barely could hear your neighbors (granted I didn’t have neighbors beside me, but couldn’t really hear people in the hallway unless they were talking loud or dogs barking) -Office personnel helpful -Door to Door valet trash pick up Cons: -Majority of the properties amenities where not completed or even being worked on. For example, the dog park was built it was a joke the bars were so spaced out and my dog was able to escape. -Speaking of dogs NOBODY picked up their pets crap and would even let them poop in front of the main door. -The complex changed managers three times while I was there with no warning or introduction to the new manager. -The trash room was constantly full of trash on the floor because people where lazy to open the door or the trash chute was full. During the weekend or holidays it was the worst. -The hallway was rarely cleaned and if it was you can tell they used dirty water cause it smelled. -Please don’t get me started on the elevator that would constantly not worked without notice sometimes. One time I seen an elderly neighbor having to sit in the lobby for hours because she couldn’t walk to her floor. I had high hopes for the property and was excited to move in but I couldn’t take the lies they promoted anymore which caused me to leave.i hope things have changed for new & old residents. If you don’t care about the properties amenities then this place is great. If you do care make sure to physically see all that they are advertising but just understand they’ve had two years to get it done, if it’s not finished it properly won’t be.

It looks great, the staff is great, the amenities are great. The only thing that brings it down are the residence. Pros: The luxor system for packages, trash pick up/clean up, maintenance, high end look, employees are great, appliances are wonderful. Pet friendly, kid friendly, right next to an early child care. Cons: Parking, Depending on your neighbors, they may be loud above you (can be fixed if you talk to them), dog park gets too muddy after it rains (takes about a week to dry out, some residents dont clean up after themselves. Overall, its a 4.5.
