Middleton is a small, wooded city bordering Lake Mendota, roughly four miles northwest of Madison. This beautiful city often makes "best" lists, including Money Magazine's list of the nation's best small cities to live in.
This friendly city (the motto is the "Good Neighbor City," after all) provides ample park space, including the lakeside Marshall Park, which features a beach area, a boat launch, fishing areas, and a playground. Nearby Lakeview Park features a lake, a splash pad, a playground, picnic areas, and walking trails. The city-owned Pleasant View Golf Course is located on a hill with panoramic views of the Madison skyline. During the winter months, it becomes a cross-country ski park.
While Middleton is a smaller city than the neighboring capital, you won't get bored after moving to a Middleton apartment. This city features a great downtown shopping district, roughly 80 restaurants, and a free trolley.

Property Ratings at The Masters Residences
I lived in a studio with my partner and loved the space (good finish and plenty of room for two people). Location and amenities are also a plus. The only problems I had came from trying to communicate with the property manager about various things. I'm not sure if it is because I am younger and newer to the renting/subleasing process, but many of my questions were not fully answered or just completely ignored. Additionally, my car was hit twice while parked in the surface lot. No notes were left (shows who your neighbors are) and, despite being parked in front of a camera, no help could be offered by the property manager. Again, it's a good place overall there are just some small issues that have lead me to explore other apartments in the Middleton/Madison area.
This place is incredible. Curb appeal is exactly what I was looking for and in addition to that the interior of this building is well kept and just as beautiful on the inside. The best thing about this apartment complex is that it doesn’t feel like an apartment it feels like home!!!!! The staff especially Jessica and Connie are incredibly professional and meet all your needs. I highly recommend , Cheryl
We moved here from out of state in the hopes of finding a short-term lease while we shopped for a house. Now we are starting to wonder if we even want a house! We have a 2 BR Den apartment and it is more than enough space for two empty nesters, a dog and occasional teenage college visits. The property is beautiful and maintenance is very attentive to any needs. Overall the building is very quiet and we have no complaints about noisy neighbors. It is a very pet-friendly building. Jessica and Connie have been very helpful with any issues and even let us move in a few days early to accommodate our schedule. Out of all the apartments we looked at when moving to Madison, this is the best one we found. Great location, great staff. You can't go wrong with renting from The Masters!
Haven't lived in an apartment for almost 20 years but found myself in need of a short-term lease with virtually no notice last June. I contacted the Masters and they immediately placed me in a beautiful brand-new apartment. I was able to move in just a few days later. Jessica and Connie went out of their way to make me feel comfortable as I got settled -- and they've been super accommodating as I've finalized my long-term living arrangements. The building is beautiful. It's a great place to call home no matter where you're at in life. The grounds are beautiful with many amenities, including an outdoor pool and a fully equipped workout facility. Very accommodating for people with pets and it's a great location, super close to downtown Middleton with easy access to both east side and west side of Madison. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Although I've been on a break from renting for many years, I was a renter for almost 15 years before that. This is by far the nicest, most well-managed apartment I've ever lived in.
I am renting at the Masters while I am in transition between selling my home and building a new home. The apartment is beautiful and feels like home during this season of transition. The staff is so kind and responsive to questions. This is a beautiful neighborhood that I believe will only get better with time.
This is more than an apartment complex to me, but more so a little "retreat" away from my days long work hours. Maintenance is super speedy at fixing any issues that arise in my unit, and the grounds are kept impeccable. There are a few issues, which the staff is trying to address (mainly, the lack of parking...which for me while it's a bit annoying I would gladly take parking issues over any other issue that could be at a complex!), so it makes my voice feel heads as well. Beautiful pool, gym, and clubhouse! Only downside, while I understand that a community pool isn't the place for you're own private pool party...living alone I sometimes have 3 visitors for an evening from time to time. It's unfortunate that the "2 guests per apartment" rule applies to me even though I live alone (which most units have 2 people, so 4 at the pool). Again, this little frustration is NOTHING compared to what I have dealt with at other units in Wisconsin. Overall, I am VERY comfortable and happy to call The Masters Residence my home! :)
We moved into the Masters Residences just under a month ago and have been so pleased with the entire experience. After raising 3 children in a 3,800 sq. ft home, we were looking to build a new home and downsizing a bit, but needed a place to call home in the months in between homes. The Masters has been perfect for us! It has upscale amenities, like the clubhouse, pool and underground parking - but also has a very family-friendly feeling about it. And believe it or not - there is plenty of space for our 3 children when they come to visit! Jessica was VERY accommodating with our move-in date as well as checking in frequently to make sure things were going o.k. Family and friends who have come to visit are truly impressed with The Masters, and we are certain we made the right choice in apartments.
When we decided to move back to Wisconsin and were not set in exactly where in the Madison area, we began to research our options. Our criteria included; a well maintained building, pet friendly, good schools, and a positive “vibe.” We found all of this and more at The Masters. We were leaning towards returning to the great Waunakee Schools and this property is zoned for Waunakee! There are great amenities for our furry family members as there are nice places to walk equipped set with waste centers. There is a great park that is outside the building and the location is very convenient to the west side of Madison. We found the perfect place for us!
My wife and I have been living at the Masters Residences for almost a year now and feel very comfortable here. The property is very well-managed and we have been treated like family. I strongly recommend anyone looking for an apartment to consider the Masters Residences as your new home. You will enjoy great care, security and a splendid location.
