Making up the area east of Downtown Harrisburg, East Harrisburg is a collection of neighborhoods in the eastern section of the state’s capital. While the western portion of the city, backed by the Susquehanna River, holds the downtown area and is filled with historic architecture, the capitol buildings at Capitol Park, and exciting entertainment, the eastern section is made up of urban residential areas. A variety of apartments in a range of prices as well as locally owned restaurants and shops line the streets. To take a break from the bustle of the city, residents head to parks in town like Reservoir Park. When locals don’t journey into downtown for shopping and dining, they travel a bit outside of the city’s limits to places along Interstate 83 including the Harrisburg Mall.

Property Ratings at The Mcfarland
The property itself is spacious. Dated but nice. The management and mantaince is horrible. They know who the their tenants are and they take advantage. They'll give you grief if someone drops you off in front of the door that takes less than 30 seconds but won't fix a huge leak in the hallway ceiling that was there for over a year
There is an awful smell in my son's apartment. He has used carpet cleaner to no avail. Management says, "There is no smell." They asked him if he cleaned his garbage disposal and told him the garbage disposal was for "crumbs only" not food. It smells like old cigarette smoke and moth balls. Nothing to do with the garbage disposal! Sickening!

Not sure which unit this is. All tenants are welcomed to place a work order. All work orders are addressed in a timely manner. thank you
The apartments in the building are beautiful and unique with high ceilings. However the building itself could use some serious work. The floors around the building need new tiles and the walls need painting. The windows need washing, the courtyard needs remodeled and the doors need upgrading. But again the apartments are chic for the neighborhood. Everyone that I invite over loves my view as well as the amount I pay for it. The neighbors aren't the classiest but they aren't the worst. The building manager seems to always be in some type of rush. Some residents are really lucky ( like myself ) I have a perfect view of the city of Harrisburg and 2 bathrooms 2.5 floors which is exactly what sold me on the place. I really couldn't ask for more for what I am paying but would love to change the color of the kitchen counter (McDonald's yellow ??).

The building is maintained with Fresh coats of paint as needed. Scuff marks, which we touch up as needed. Doors to the property are secured, and in working order all the time. Yes, we have the high ceilings, and spectacular views. Rent is a great price which includes: floor to ceiling windows, free parking, laundry facilities with new LG front loader washers / dryers, secure building doors along with surveillance cameras. Thank you
