Property Ratings at The McMillan
1. When I first moved in (June 2021) they handed me over a filthy apartment. The walls had scuff marks, the toilet had black mold, the washing machine smelt completely musty and had mold, there was caked on dust on top of the refrigerator and light fixtures, the carpet was dirty in the bedroom, etc. 2. The woman who gave me a tour of the building told me multiple incorrect things. She told me I would have 2 parking passes – 1 for outdoor resident parking & 1 for the underground parking. Upon move-in, I was told I only got 1. I was also told that I would have a garage spot on the outer areas of the underground parking where it allowed for more storage. This was also incorrect, and I have a spot in the middle row of parking. Lastly, I was told that the maintenance people would hang anything on the walls for me. After moving in I was told he doesn’t ever do that because it could be a liability if it fell. 3. The outside of the building is covered in spiders. My balcony and window (on the 4th floor) are covered in cobwebs and spiders. I do not feel comfortable using my balcony or opening my bedroom window due to this. 4. I live right next to the elevator – DO NOT PICK A UNIT HERE! I hear people coming in & out of the elevator at all hours of the night. The trash room is also located right there, and you will hear people come & go all night. I can hear the elevator doors open and the voice of “going down”. The McMillan offers shopping carts for people to use to haul things. The shopping carts coming in & out of the elevator are so incredibly loud. 5. I am overlooking the parking lot. You will hear people come out of the restaurant at night and hang by their cars talking before leaving. This isn’t an issue every single night and the restaurant isn’t open late, but it can get noisy. You will also hear food delivery trucks come in the morning (usually before 8am) multiple times a week to deliver food. 6. Noisy tenants. A tenant above me is very loud until the late hours of the night. I have sent complaints to the management office. It does not seem like management cares. They keep stating that these are general apartment noises that I have to deal with. They gave me the option of moving out with a hefty termination fee or moving to another unit (which I would have to pay for movers). 7. The crime here is actually very scary. I do not feel comfortable outside of my unit late at night or in the early morning hours.
