Glen Allen is a quiet suburban community on the north side of Richmond, roughly ten miles from the city center. The community is primarily composed of residential neighborhoods, with a large shopping center on the northeast corner of town, anchored by the popular Virginia Center Commons. The excellent public schools and low crime rate attract many Richmond-area commuters to Glen Allen, especially those raising families.
A cluster of large parks and golf courses on the south side of town provides excellent opportunities to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and the tranquility of nature, particularly the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. With Richmond so close at hand, it’s easy to hop down and take advantage of the historic city’s dining, entertainment, and sightseeing anytime.

Property Ratings at The Meadows
I would've rated this place pretty high because of the location but there are some major issues here. Also they have decided not to renew our lease when we have never been late on a payment when we brought up issues here and they have now retaliated with the non-renewal of the lease. SO let's get all of the issues this place has in the open so I can prevent someone from making the same mistakes as us. First of all parking is ridiculous. We had just moved here and in the first weeks and got towed for not having the parking pass shown in the vehicle. I wasn't familiar with all the rules so I asked for some kind of grace and mercy but none was given and we later found out they get kickbacks from the towing company so they get paid when they get paid so why would they lower their money and this was right after paying a 3 month deposit on an apartment here. I should have tried to leave at that point but I stayed. Parking additionally sucks if you get home past 7pm you can cancel finding anywhere near your apartment to park and they don't care and said as much (nothing will change about this per management.) This place had been safe or at least we thought so until they removed all the deadbolt locks in my building for sure I've seen. When we asked why this was being done it was said that it was because they had issues taking care of maintenance issues when people refuse to unlock the deadbolt. We simply took in this information but after thinking about this if someone has the deadbolt on then they are at home and they are refusing the maintenance issue be taken care of then that's their personal choice (let me say that this has never happened to us.) I haven't went to other buildings so I'm not sure if it's only our building who is majority minority that had their deadbolts removed. Another issue is the people who don't clean up behind their pets. Who wants to walk in dog stuff just anytime and we have to pass where they get rid of waste to get to our apartment which really sucks (another thing that management stated would not change.) So the non-renewal of the lease is probably a blessing and I could find something much better but I didn't want to uproot my special needs kid in the middle of the school year but I will do what I have to do. Last but not least these apartments are really outdated and there is no plan to do anything about that as well which is a shame given the price they are.
The Meadows apartment complex is not worth the money that they are charging. Appliances are outdated. It takes a very long time to get maintenance to repair anything. The rental office personnel is not very friendly or attentive either. The apartment we had was full of mold and mildew. Although we complained about it nothing was done. Don't waste your time with these overpriced apartments. Save your money and Buy a House instead!!
I’ve lived at The Meadows since September 5th 2020 and my daughter and I absolutely love it here. It’s the perfect location, it’s quiet and maintenance is always super fast whenever I submit a service request and staff are always professional and courteous. We’ve enjoyed calling The Meadows home.
When you have maintenance problems, they take about a week just to return your email or phone calls. Ridiculous. Parking is also an issue, no where near enough parking that you have to park across the entire complex half the time. They don’t check to make sure people have the parking pass on the vehicle. They are in a desperate need of a remodel. Over priced for what you are getting (small, old style rooms). Just do not live here.
This is a nice quiet apartment complex with a park like setting.I have resided here 4 years and love the swiftness of maintenance when and if there is a problem. Rental staff is friendly and like family. They have community get togethers in the rec room and pot luck dinners and cookouts by the pool. Schools are close by and its convenient to shopping and movie theaters.Parking is reasonable. Best place I've lived in along time!!!
There were a few problems with the apartment when I moved it, but I informed the office and everything was fixed within a day. So far the area seems nice and everyone is friendly. I didn't realize that soliciting was allowed though and that caught me off guard when someone came to my door asking for money. That was only once though and overall it feels like a nice place to live.
