A part of one of the South’s best college towns, according to Southern Living, South Auburn borders downtown and the Auburn University campus. Cheer on the Auburn Tigers at the Jordan-Hare Stadium minutes from the neighborhood. After a winning game, head over to the town’s favorite post game gathering spot, Toomer’s Corner. Celebrate by participating in one of the town’s oldest traditions by hurling toilet paper over lamp posts, benches, and trees. When you’re done decorating, try the famous lemonade at Toomer’s Drugs, an old-fashioned soda shop located in an historic drugstore.
Even if you’re not a sports fan, there is plenty to do in this gorgeous tree-covered community. Not only can you enjoy your favorite outdoor activities at the parks in South Auburn, but you can also bring your friends and family to the festivals held in these natural areas. Listen to live music, purchase crafts, and eat delicious food at the annual Auburn CityFest held in Kiesel Park.

Property Ratings at The Mill at Auburn
I had an incredibly frustrating experience at The Mill at Auburn. From the very first day of move-in, my apartment was in terrible condition—filthy, with trash, bugs, and damages everywhere. Despite raising these concerns immediately, the cleaning crew provided by the management did a poor job, and I had to hire additional cleaners to get the place livable. Communication with the management was consistently unreliable. I was given conflicting information regarding the return of my security deposit. Initially told that I could receive my deposit back after a walk-through, I later found out this wasn’t true. After moving out, I was hit with unexpected charges for cleaning and damages, despite the apartment being in poor condition when I moved in. To make matters worse, my deposit was mistakenly sent to my former roommate’s address and made payable to Tuskegee University, not to me. Even after several communications, the issues have not been resolved, and I still haven’t received my deposit back. The entire experience has been deeply frustrating, and I would not recommend this complex to anyone!!

Hi - thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We’re deeply sorry to hear about the issues you experienced during your move-in and throughout your stay. This is certainly not the standard we strive to uphold, and we take your concerns very seriously. We apologize for the condition of your apartment and any miscommunication regarding your security deposit. We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further and work towards a resolution. Please reach out to us directly so we can address these issues and make things right.
Where do I start... I have lived here for a year and half, and like any residential property issues do arise, but here when they do occur the maintenance team has the problem fixed in a timely manner. There are several resident events and giveaways throughout the year and the amenities at the front office, though they need some TLC, are still nice and are great for everyone. The location of The Mill is also super convenient, only a five minute drive to down town, but you do not have to deal with loud road noises which is a blessing if you live in Auburn. Overall, I have already renewed my lease and plan to continue to do so. Just like anything, The Mill is what you make it, alot of the issues that I have come across as a resident here are caused by the mistreatment by residents. The Mill is an amazing place to live and would (and have) referred people to it.

Thanks for your review! We are so glad to hear you have had a positive experience with us here at The Mill. Our top priority is to ensure all of our residents enjoy their homes and our community, and we strive to continue improving that experience!
Price is good, decent grounds, but work requests will go undone for months at a time unless you keep going to the office to bother them. Lots of doors were left unlocked during recent reconditioning by third party contractors.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the community and pricing! As is usual when hundreds of new residents move in during a short weekend, our maintenance staff has many requests to fulfill in a short period of time. They must prioritize any emergencies and/or urgent requests, and we appreciate your patience as they caught up to our normal 24-48 hour work order turnaround time. We are glad to hear that our office staff was able to expedite your concerns to our maintenance team to get your needs addressed. Our new management has also added an additional maintenance team member in order to continue to improve our work order response time! Although we cannot speak to events you mentioned that happened under prior management regarding unlocked doors, we can assure you that our policy is to always lock doors behind us in the rare instances we must enter our residents’ apartments. We do value your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to leave this review!
Do yourself a huge favor and DO NOT move here. Everything is a lie. Everything breaks and they do not fix it quickly. Our disposal was broken for two weeks. My roommate’s toilet was broken for an entire week. I’ve been calling and putting in maintenance requests for them to simply refill the poop bag storages around the complex as well as change out the trash bags FOR OVER A MONTH. They cannot even accomplish any simple tasks and will NEVER let you know what is going on. Worst experience ever and i’ve moved around a LOT.
If I could give a zero I would. My son renewed his lease for the third year. When went to new company, they increased his rent by $80/month and refused to honor the lease already signed. They threatened to cut his bike off the bike rack, during a school break, because they are moving bike rack locations, giving him less than 24 hours warning. Again, on break so he was at home in another state. He went back today, they had rekeyed apartments for the new year. He arrived at 4 and the office had closed at 3. The office hours are until 6. No e-mail stating early close. Horrible! Just one bad experience after another in the 6 months of new ownership.
I wish I had read these reviews before our daughters signed their lease, because we've just had exactly the same experience as "Treats Students Poorly" below - only they took even longer to notify us. My daughter and her roommates were told there were still 4-bedrooms available and signed a lease 5-6 weeks ago. All the parents filled out the guarantor information and mailed our checks. The girls just received an email telling them that oh no, they are actually out of 4-bedroom apartments! They can either be put in random rooms in other people's apartments, or cancel the lease. 1. Can these people not count? If they know there are, say, three 4-bedroom apartments left to lease, and three groups sign leases for those today, then anyone who comes in next should be told that they will be placed on a waiting list. Other places I've called have been able to tell me exactly what they have left. 2. The previous reviewer said management never returned her call. I will say that they did call me back, but gave me a song and a dance about it taking time to look at lease sign dates, etc. Well, of course, but that is a running daily thing, and you should know day to day how many units you still have available. And it shouldn't take 6 weeks to figure that out. This is not rocket science, this is simple addition and subtraction and keeping up with your paperwork. Had we known 6 weeks ago that they were full (or even nearly full - they never gave us a sense of urgency about "only one left, sign quickly - and I'll grant that it took several days to coordinate four families in three different states, plus mail our checks in), then the girls could have immediately looked elsewhere. Now they are up a creek and scrambling to find somewhere else, and I am speechless that The Connection cares so little about the disruption they are causing these students.
My daughter and her roommates decided to apply to live at The Connection for the 2017-18 school year. The afternoon they were applying, they called the office to make sure that there were apartments available and they were assured that there were. So all of them went through the application process and thought it was all taken care of. I even received an email from The Connection in order to fill out the Guarantor information. However, the other 2 girls' parents never received the email. Then a week later my credit was run (which has no issues by the way). The very next day all 3 girls received an email saying that The Connection was full for next year and sorry. When you go on The Connection website still as of this posting, it states that they have availability. This is just flat out stealing from young college students. They are encouraging people to apply and pay the application fees and then telling them that they are full. I cannot believe that an apartment complex in a college town would treat students this bad and take advantage of them. I called the complex and was assured that I would get a call back from someone higher up in management. Well it has been 3 weeks and still no call. I felt that I needed to post this on a third party website so hopefully other students will not be taken advantage of as these 3 girls were.
Management is terrible!!! Had to wait days to get a new microwave put in and waited 4 days to have the washer fixed. They just recently shut down the pools "until further notice" because they were "trashed". The maintenance guys get paid to pick up the grounds and they do not do it! The front pool is perfectly fine they just refuse to reopen it!! Also the hot tub has not been fixed in months. The people in the office act like they run the property and have the authority to do things they should not be allowed to do! I would not recommend my worst enemy to live here. Absolutely pathetic.
This place is horrible! Management is really what makes the stay bad because they never handle anything correctly or go by the rules. We've been waiting for months to get problems we've been having resolved and they still haven't done anything. You'll really start to hear a lot of bad reviews after you move here and then it will be too late. Please do yourself a favor and not move here because you definitely will regret it!
I like all the amenities (3 pools, everyone!) and the people who work in the front office are always helpful. However, they did not accommodate the room preference I put on my application, giving me a room with the bathroom and closet connected when I stated wanting them separate. I realize they cannot cater to all requests, but I was very disappointed. Other than that, living here is pleasant. They put on events for the residents throughout the year, and little things like free breakfast during exam week.
It's a student apartment. It comes with great furniture and a lot of extra. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because of the price of rent. I have 3 roommates. I can't complain though because they are really nice.
It's really great considering the rent. It comes with two pools, volleyball courts, a basketball court, and the clubhouse has a pool table, ping pong table, and a gym so the rent matches what you get. The one problem I have a problem with is that the furniture that comes with the apartment is really cheap and you cannot really put it anywhere if you want to get nicer furniture. But, the staff is really timely on fixing the things if something breaks within the apartment.
Great value! The main attraction of "The Connection" is the amenities. The rooms themselves are rather barren, though large for a student with an individual full-bathroom and full-sized mattress, desk, chair, cable, and dresser. The amenities are well-serviced and visually attractive with two sets of pools, volleyball courts, and basketball courts so none are terribly far from your particular apartment. The gym is the exception as there is only one, and it is fairly simplistic, though it has the essentials for the casual attendee. In addition, the clubhouse, if unattended, is a perfect spot to host larger gatherings, especially if grilling out as the grills are nearby and various activities like pool are provided for. The clubhouse also has a tanning bed as well as a computer lab, an essential for the student without a computer. Services are acceptable with regular University transit and automatic rent payment. Inexplicably, there is a fee associated with paying rent online. Maintenance staff are tolerable and decently responsive to maintenance requests. Unfortunately, the items in the apartment are rather cheap in nature and a maintenance request or two will be expected every quarter. During the school year, "The Connection" offers various events such as "Taco Night," "Vegas Night," etc. that are fairly generous and a great way to meet your neighbors. Finally, if you're in a hurry on finals week and forget to eat breakfast, no sweat! "The Connection" offers breakfast to the early birds on their way to school.
As a student at auburn university The Connection apartment complex provides everything you could ask for at a reasonable price; spacious rooms, 2 pools, a workout room, gated community, and full kitchens standard to name a few items. This will be my second year living here and I don't plan on moving anytime soon!
I'm a college student looking for another route other than on campus! I found the Connections at Auburn and all I can say is WOW! Great customer service, very friendly, commute to and from college is an awesome distance! If you haven't already , check it out NOW!!! The best overall thing about these apartments is the price which includes just about everything you'll ever need! You can't beat their price! I hope this helps someone in their search for the BEST apartment!!!
NEVER, EVER live at the Connection at Auburn. On top of the numerous issues I've had with them over the years, this one was the absolute last straw. Their maintenance turned up my water heater when I DIDN'T ask them too, and my power bill went up from $145 to $237. I went in to talk to the property manager, but he was gone and I was promised they would call to make an appointment, but they never did. When I finally called back, they refused to compensate and tried to blame it on the weather (it's January) and tell me that their vacant units had power bills that went up, too. BUT in the 3.5 years I've lived here, in temperatures much colder than this, I have NEVER had a power bill cost even close to that much, and I have statistics from the power company to prove it, as this time last year the bill was only $136, and I have never EVER had a power bill go above $150 even during freezing winters. Also, this power bill was for December, when my roommates and I were out of the apartment for 2 weeks straight. The property manager talked to me like I was an idiot, and told me that it's my fault that the water heater was turned up, even though the maintenance request I put in was to come look at my shower. On top of this, I also had a situation 3 years ago when my roommate had a destructive dog, for which she was not paying a pet's fee. When I went to talk to the staff about my concern that I may have to pay for the damages, they told me they would take care of it, yet for a year the dog remained and I was charged with the damages. On multiple occasions, they have signed for very important packages for my roommates and I and never notified us, leaving us to assume that our packages were lost in the mail. The staff is extremely friendly, so much so that they make you feel bad for getting angry, but don't let them fool you. There is absolutely nothing good that can come from living here, no matter how much you like the amenities.
