The Travis County community of McNeil covers a large expanse of north Austin. Much of the area belongs to the Austin White Lime Company, but the surrounding roads and residential areas in the southern part of McNeil provide a beautiful sprawling landscape for renters of all types.
There’s a selection of homes in all styles in McNeil Estates, a compact residential area that sits just off of North Mopac Expressway and West Parmer Lane. McNeil is also receiving a number of modern apartment complexes, each offering upscale amenities and stylish living less than 30 minutes from Downtown Austin.
Yett Creek Neighborhood Park sits just outside of McNeil and offers 40 acres of forest to explore on walking trails. With all of the surrounding highways, McNeil is a fantastic, affordable spot for those who commute to the city for work. The nearby thoroughfares also mean you can be at Lake Travis or San Antonio in no time.

Overall good. One suggestion is that there could be more frequent maintenance of the gym. The sanitizing wipes have been out for more than 2 weeks. Two machines are not functioning.

Nice complex overall. More expensive compared to similar apartments in the same neighborhood. Maintenance is good, but there are occasional noise issues, especially in the pool area. Gym is great, and we feel secure in general. HEB is 5 min away and Domain is 10 minutes to drive.

Good overall. - Gym is decent. - Leasing office is clean and tidy. - Staff are friendly. Not too great: - Some residents leave the trash out too early which makes the hallway smell. - Some don’t pick up after their dogs.

I have lived here going on 10 years and I love the location, the serenity I get on days that just make you want to feel lazy. I have THE BEST upstairs neighbors and just really love my apartment. Plus!!! They have just renovated the workout gym/yoga/Peloton area and I can say that it looks AWESOME! And too, you have the New Bulk Mail Delivery area, a waiting area for if you are waiting for your Uber to come pick you up, study area - it's just so Grown Up now that the property is in the double digits of age - hahaha Overall, I do not see myself moving any time soon.

So far The Monterra has been the best apartment I have lived in while in Austin. I have lived in two other apartments. The location, safety, and apartment have been 10/10. Oh and the gym is incredible. I definitely recommend.

Living at the Monterra has been a positive, trouble-free experience. Management seems to be on top of the maintenance and repairs of the apartments and amenities, and whenever I reach out to them with questions or concerns, they always reply back very fast. Their attention to their tenants is what I appreciate most, they always try to find solutions to your concerns.

Living at The Monterra has been a pleasant experience. The management team has always been available when needed and the few maintenance requests I've had were addressed immediately and completed in a fast time frame.

We are the happy residents of Monterra since 2 years now. Personally we are big fan of cleanliness and landscape maintained in the community and we never got neglected with our requests or discussion with management if there were any issues to report. Super convenient location and yet peaceful. I definitely recommend this community to those who are looking on their move to apartment living. Regards Gaurav Garg

Very few places offer apartments with the benefit of not having neighbors upstairs and downstairs, so that's pretty neat.
