Property Ratings at The Nelson
This is a great value place. The new management is good and maintenance is awesome. Any problems we've had have been fixed, however, our HVAC was out for about 2 weeks in the summer. They said that they were waiting on a part and gave us a window AC unit for the second week of that period. The pickleball courts are great, but so many people who don't live here hog them, especially on Sundays. Other than that, it's a great apartment if you have a dog, there are plenty of grassy areas, but some of the residents don't pick up after their dog, which is frustrating.

We're glad to hear that you find our apartments to be a great value and that you appreciate our maintenance team. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the HVAC system and appreciate your patience during that time. We also take note of your feedback regarding the pickleball courts and the pet waste issue. We're always striving to improve our community for our residents. Thank you for your review.
More people are apt to speak on the negative, but don’t follow-up with how things may have been resolved. Be careful of the negative reviews!!! Lorraine and Jenna are AMAZING!!! Any time any issues have come up Jenna is on top of it and makes sure everything is taken care of. Jenna has been a great addition to the team. Unlike other places I have lived Lorraine has made sure what she promises is exactly what will be done...nothing less than that!!! As far as maintenance goes...they show up pretty quickly, friendly, knowledgeable, and if they are unsure of something they don’t just wing it...they all work together to make sure the job is done CORRECTLY. I also appreciate how they don’t rush to get the job done, but if it needs to be done in steps or two days they do so and they clean up after themselves!!! I have enjoyed living here and have not had any problems. I love that it is quiet and safe!
My family has been here for over a year and for the value, it's getting 5 stars from me. Now is it perfect... no, but what place is, for the space, price, and safety, you can't beat it in the area. The office and staff has taken care of any request we've submitted and they do really care about the property and tenants. No trash on the ground, people hanging out, or loud noises and if you have a package delivered like we do all the time, you don't have to worry about it walking away. When I read the reviews before coming here I was nervous about giving this place a try, but I'm so happy we did. We will stay here until we purchase a home in the next year or so.

Thank you for your kind word words. We try very hard to take care of Valley Ridge for all of our residents! I am glad we have made Valley Ridge your home! Thank you again Lorraine & Jenna
This is the 2nd time I live at Valley Ridge. The Manager Lorraine and her Assistant Jenna are extremely professional and so nice. They always get back to me with any questions I have or maintenance request. Although the apartments are 50 years old, they have been well kept up and renovated. The Maintenance staff is always polite and gets the job done. I know some people have gotten impatient if something hasn't gotten repaired quickly, but this is a big complex and as the saying goes, patience is a virtue. The grounds are so well kept up and its quite here. There are many families who live here and its quiet! I find that amazing. So if you are looking for a family friendly nice place to live, I would suggest Valley Ridge. Their prices are better than other places in this area. Again, I'm on my 2nd time living here and I love it. So does my husband. We had to leave the 1st time to move out of state. We moved back to Tennessee and came straight back to Valley Ridge. We've had nothing but a positive living experience here. We don't plan on leaving anytime soon. Thanks for reading my review! Lisa Meier
Lived here a few years and it has gone from bad to worse. The property manager and assistants in the office are rude and unprofessional. The maintenance suffers since they do not have sufficient staff. There is one guy who seems more permanent and efficient but the others come and go and we cannot keep up with the turnover. Moreover, they do not have uniforms and so it is difficult to know who is authentic valley ridge staff. Extremely uncomfortable letting them in while at work. The rents keep going up without tangible improvements to the units. Was told that the previous manager and staff kept the place cheerful and residents happy.

Valley Ridge is a horrible place, just run away. I lived in Valley Ridge for more than three years. I found the maintenance is never on time. You have to wait for several weeks so that you broke facility can be fixed. However, the slow maintenance is still tolerable for me, so I would have recommended Valley Ridge, mainly because of the price. However, the drama happened recently completely changed my mind. This May I signed a new lease and transferred from 3-bedroom townhouse to a 2-bedroom apartment since my previous roommates moved out and I got only one new roommate. The new room is also in Valley Ridge. I also recommended several friends to Valley Ridge so I deserved three refer checks of $600. Before moving into the new room and obtaining the refer checks, I left Nashville for three months to an internship, and I came back in August. I moved into my new room and went to the office for my refer checks. Then the drama began. I was told that my first room, the townhouse, had some damages when its lease expired. Since I left Nashville earlier so I had no idea what happened when my roommates moved out. The property manager told me to call their company and pay for the damages first so that I could get my refer checks. I called, then was told that the deadline has passed and the bill has been transferred to a debt collection company. Oh my goodness. I called the collection company and paid for the bill quickly. Then I came back to the company for my refer checks, but they told me that my payment is too late and I am not qualified to the refer checks anymore. So, I lost $600. That is ridiculous since no one told me about the damage bill before I asked for my refer checks. I also asked the company whether they have send me anything earlier about the damage bill. They said “Yes, we send the bill to your old address”. How nonsense it is? How can they send the bill to the address that they know I have moved out? I actually have emailed Valley Ridge a lot for different stuff so they know my email, and my phone number is also on the lease. I really felt that the whole drama is a conspiracy to steal money from my wallet. Now I have moved to new place. I don’t understand why Valley Ridge threw this drama to me. I was a loyal resident who lived there for a long time, and I also recommended my friends to move here. But what I got at the end is financial loss and health damage. Run away! Run!! Run!!!
I have lived here personally and had friends live here also for several years. They're office representative is unprofessional and uncivil. The apartments where built back in the 1970's so they are in need of round the clock maintaining witch is not being provided because they can't seem to keep maintainience keepers. In the time a was there they went through 6 people that where coming and going out of my home. They do background checks but not drug tests on the maintenance keepers, which is VERY uncomfortable. This place has fallen on hard times and disrepair with a lot of problems everywhere.
