Yes, it's called Capitol Hill -- but it isn't the capitol and there's no capitol building. So how did this Seattle neighborhood get its name? Back around 1900, a real estate developer renamed the burgeoning community from "Broadway Hill" to "Capitol Hill" because he wanted the capitol to be moved from Olympia to Seattle. That never happened, and the quirky neighborhood kept its new quirky name. Capitol Hill is the neighborhood for those who love nightlife. As Seattle's premier place to party, Capitol Hill is home to coffee houses, taverns, bars, nightclubs, and theaters.
Home to artists and musicians, Capitol Hill features a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, and it is home to the Capitol Hill Arts District. College students also find their way to the Hill, which is home to Seattle Central College and is just south of the University of Washington.

Property Ratings at The New Carroll
I've rented 9 apartments in the last 9 years (between school, internships, and jobs in various places), and this is hands-down the best apartment and building I've ever lived in. I was here for 2 years. - The BUILDING is gorgeous. I love a deeply respected historical building, and the in-unit renovations are stunning. - MANAGEMENT is great. John is super friendly and warm, and he works very hard at keeping the tenants happy and the building in great shape. He also has good relationships with the surrounding complexes, which I think is awesome. - The LOCATION is flawless. Bellevue and Thomas is a fairly quiet spot (minus the occasional neighbor or alleyway shenanigan), but it's walking distance to Pine/Pike and 15th street, as well as a billion other great places. - The VIEW from the rooftop is a stunner. Downtown and the lake are breathtaking. Sitting up there with a glass of wine was my favorite thing to do with visiting friends. - I'll never be able to beat the PRICE for this place. My unit was a pretty massive refurbished 2br with incredible views plus a parking space, and after shopping around the city (we saw at least 8 other units) this was by far the *cheapest*, but also the best in every other way. Moving again and leaving this place was a very sad decision. - TENANTS, at least all that I met, were kind, lovely people. I can't recommend this place more.
The Carroll deserves a new review. This is a very quiet, private, and friendly building. It has space and classic design. The building manager is warm and follows through on any requests. The building and garage are safe and clean. Our unit is large and a place we call home in an otherwise busy neighborhood. This building has a lovely roof and a fabulous view of Seattle. It is the most well kept and maintained classid building on Capitol Hill.
Don't rent here! Building is broken into very frequently. We rent a garage space at this building and our car has been broken into on two separate occasions costing thousands of dollars in repair. The building or the garage as no security system or cameras - not safe! Lots of burglary. Packages and mail stolen numerous times.
