Property Ratings at The Nolen
Collin was outstanding throughout the whole application process. We just relocated from out of state and Collin made whole process so easy! I bugged the hell out of him and he was ALWAYS extremely pleasant and accommodating! We love our apartment. View is great and apartment like new. Minutes from beach and fun places to eat. Highly recommend!!
This place is hands down one of the best places I have lived. Yes they are under a major construction project however, the staff has been very professional and accommodating. Anytime I had a maintenance request it was taken care of in a timely manner. Angie the new property manager made some awesome changes to the community and gets things done! They host awesome resident functions. The community is well kept and most importantly I feel safe here. Yes there are homeless people but they are everywhere. The staff does a great job with communicating with the homeless while being compassionate regarding their circumstances. That shows to the true integrity of what kind of people are managing this community. I would give them 20 stars if I could. I appreciate the efforts this community has taken while undergoing a major renovation. You guys are awesome and keep up the great work!

Hard to get a response from them and if you ask to speak with their higher up they ignore you completely. It is a nightmare living here and we’re promised parking before signing papers and told them it is a big concern of our from looking at their parking and they lied saying we wouldn’t have any issue but we do. My boyfriend and I have to park far either at the very front entrance of the apartments when our apartment is the very back entrance and walk to it or when there are spots in front of the park we have to park there and walk to our building. I’ve reached out several times regarding this and other things and they do not care. They asked if we wanted to be where construction was to get a lower rent before we signed and we said no and yet they have construction right outside our window and blocking off half of the parking lot making it even more difficult to find those few far parking spots. On top of that we haven’t been able to use our ice from the built in ice maker in the freezer because when we moved in there were maggot eggs in there and we’re never cleaned out. They let us move in with a bunch of bugs in the place and dirty bathtub and countertops and floors that we had to clean. There is also no regular towing as they promise and when you call the tow company they tell you to call the office. There is obviously no communication going on with the two of them as the tow company thinks it’s over 24 hours for vehicles who are non residence to be towed and the office says they told the tow company to tow right away. There’s so much wrong with this place so warning STAY AWAY!

I liked my apartment & had been a good tenant for five years. Actually, I was the first tenant after the building was opened. When my rent was raised $500. monthly with no room for negotiation, I moved out. I could have afforded an extra $300. per month. Penny wise, pound foolish. I notice there are always many, many apartments available which brings me joy. The best part of The Nolen was the apartment being very nice. Maintenance is excellent. Service is sometimes the same day or next day. Matthew is a gem. Friendly, helpful & a very skilled at maintenance . Negatives: The leasing office never returns calls or e-mails. I would have to go to the office personally to get an answer. The hallways were not kept clean all the time. There is no Security & gates never worked, sometimes the front door to buildings didn't lock. Now, I see black tarp over a building which means the tenant has no natural light. I guess I was lucky to get out before it happened to the building I lived. RENTER BEWARE!
I love it here, the staff is great. Management is awesome from the front desk. They help me every will cost us to move here. The maintenance staff led by Matthew is awesome. Any plans overhead? He was professional and courteous and fix right on time no issues or questions. The little outing at the front desk told me to meet different people and get familiar with the area that I’m residing in right now. My apartment is beautiful clean just completely awesome If things work out I wouldn’t mind staying for another couple of years. I feel like I’m at home coming from New York. Great place to reside before us moving to Clearwater Florida beaches are close restaurants in are great. Everything is easily 1 to 3 miles away to do anything you want to do the Nolen is a great place.
The Nolen is not a luxury apartment. There is a chemical smell that gets pumped through the air vents and has given me breathing problems and headaches. All your belongings will smell. Their towing company puts orange stickers on residents vehicles that don't come off. It's very loud and smells like weed. Broken glass in stairwells. Dogs pee in the elevators if the elevators are even working. You can't park anywhere near your building. And the construction has been going on for months. You literally have black tarps over all your windows with no outside light for months. Good luck working from home with all the pounding all day. Only good thing was the maintenance team took care of issues.
Horrible experience. Construction was hell. They tarped over windows and left me for 6 months with exposed walls and no ventilation. Elevator always broken. Staff lies and misleads you or completely ignores you. Drive by and see for yourself. Don’t believe a word they tell you to get you to move in. You will regret it.
Went to the property to tour, ended up doing my application and was approved in the leasing office. ($315 total). Accidentally picked a 7 month lease instead of 12 month, and I was told in person it was no biggie and was an easy fix. I flew down here from northern Michigan, so I was only in town for the week. When I get back home to Michigan I go to make my security deposit and see it’s still at 7 months, so I call the leasing office and send an email. After a week and a half of calling repeatedly and emailing, I get zero response. This was in early November, still no response. Needless to say I will not be moving here and suggest you don’t as well unless you want a nonexistent leasing office.
I am a single female that wanted to make a change in my life and move from Colorado to Florida sight unseen. The Nolen was the very 1st place that showed up in my search and I loved the way it looked, it reminded me of home and the Property I was managing at the time so I knew this was the place. David,Jessie and Matthew are the BEST they seriously put up with my nerves and stress as I made this move I was so nervous to make, they helped assure me that I made the right decision. Once I got here the TOP notch service continued, they made my move in stress free and easy. I was a Property Manager in Colorado for many many years and I know a good staff that is more interested in making great homes for their residents than just collecting a paycheck and this staff here is one of those amazing teams that work together for the greater good of the community and their residents. The Maintenance Supervisor Matthew is amazing I had a few things that needed attention after I moved in and he has been nothing shy of professional and caring! He is very efficient and takes his job seriously to make our homes the best! THANK YOU!!!! David is the Leasing Agent here and boy he is AMAZING not only did he calm my nerves before I moved, he made my move in so simple and stress free. He has helped me carry heavy packages to my apartment as I sold everything in Colorado and bought all new here. I moved out here not knowing anybody and instead of telling me that he can't do that, he helped me and to me that goes way above and beyond the call of duty for a leasing agent and I am forever grateful. The Nolen is lucky to have such a caring amazing individual working for them. His customer service skills and knowledge in the apartment industry will take him far in life! Jessie the Manager is such a sweetheart, I truly believe that ANYTHING can be handled and worked out with great customer service and life is not perfect all the time and being in the industry I know finding and keeping good people is hard. She also went above and beyond for me to make my move in right and smooth. I am so thankful for you! I would recommend this community to anyone looking for a great place to call home with a caring staff who are definitely in the business of customer service. What a TOP NOTCH TEAM I am so glad I chose The Nolen as my first experience here in Clearwater Beach. Perfect Location, Perfect Property and Perfect Staff, what else could you ask for:)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and the 5 star review!
I honestly wish I could NOT give them 1 star that’s how horrible the nolen is…. I have lived here for two years and nothing has been fixed or worked. The gates never close, my building door doesn’t lock, I have had mold in my apartment for the last 6-8 months trying to get them to fix it, the management and staff are HORRIBLE, the lockers for packages are never used by the delivery person, packages get stolen all the time, my neighbors car got broken into 2 times, cars hardly ever get towed at night (so you can’t park next to your building), the trash is ridiculous and unsightly, there is NO cameras or security, there is homeless people in the pool area and club house all the time, they don’t have fobs for the doors either, my air conditioning had been “fixed” to many times to count, after a year my dishwasher finally got fixed, the list goes on and on…. The only reason I sign a new lease last year is because of covid, I will not be renewing this year. The only good thing about the nolen is it’s close to bars and restaurants… everything else is terrible.
Overflowing trash dumpster is a regular issue. Gates have never worked so security is a huge issue. Front desk/leasing team has literally been a joke to deal with. The parking is always an issue for guests as there are only 5 guest parking spots for the whole complex. Also the place has had outside vendors setup food trucks and a farmers market. All with a global pandemic going on, certainly no care for well being of guests. Crap internet and drains that are slow to drain and routinely backup. Do your research and stay far away from this dump.
Property Manager at The Nolen, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your review. Would you mind contacting us and providing the office with more information? The property will have the trash company come immediately if you contact them promptly. We are downtown living so parking spots are less readily available. All vendors have practiced social distancing as required by the City of Clearwater. During this pandemic, we are happy to still be able to provide amenities and events for our residents. Please let the office know if you are having a drain issue and they will assist you. Have a great day!
Don't even bother. The staff is pathetic and are so fake. They act concerned when you have an issue, but all they care about it taking your money. The walls are PAPER thin and you can hear everything, including your neighbor taking a leak. This is the poorest luxury apartment I've ever lived in. Save your money and wait until Apex 1100 opens... if you must live in Downtown Clearwater.....

We're very disappointed to hear this assessment of our community. We can ensure you that all of our staff cares about the happiness and well-being of our residents, and we always want to provide top-notch service. We're very sorry that your experience hasn't lined up with that goal. We would be happy to speak with you more in-depth offline about any concerns you may have, so please feel free to reach out to us directly at the leasing office!
They call themselves "luxury apartments", they are not. This is extremely unfortunate because the location is great and the apartments themselves are pretty inside, so is the pool and gym. HOWEVER many of the residents in this place are sketchy, there is always marijuana smell coming from one or another of the buildings and I had severe cockroach problems and was being treated as though I was crazy and no one was resolving the issue and I had to resolve it myself. The manager Megan is really nice, but unfortunately these apartments were poorly built. There is also a lot of dust which makes for poor quality of air and sleep. The rent is WAY too high for what you're getting.
Property Manager at The Nolen, Responded To This Review
We apologize for the delayed response but there is a huge importance placed on the cleanliness of the property as well as the customer service provided. You are more than welcome to visit the office with any concerns you may have!
This place definitely isn't a luxury complex. The main selling point is the location, being so close to downtown clearwater and the beach. Here are the pros: The apartments are pretty. They look nice and the giant islands in the kitchen are a great feature. Like I said, they're close to downtown and the beach. Is you have a lake view, it is a nice feature. Cons: The hallways and elevators are always dirty. There is always a ton of dog poop everywhere. The complex provides bags and receptacles, yet the tenants cant be bothered to clean up after their pets. Do not walk on any grass if you have nice shoes on. The walls are paper thin. You can hear every step from the person above you and every dog bark from, I bet, the same neighbors who dont pick up their dogs waste. The management always has to enter your apartment for some construction issue. The exterior gates are always broken. There have been questionable people just roaming around, which would happen less if the gates were closed. The rent is HIGH for what you get. They force you to pay $30 per month for "free wi-fi". You HAVE to pay for mail lockers, when there are free standard mail boxes available. You have to pay for trash valet as well, even if you would like to throw your own garbage away. Finally, my main concern is the people they have been renting to - this place was around 50% full for a while. Then with new ownership came a sudden jump in occupancy. But distasteful people. Very trashy. All of these are common issues in apartment complexes. I am paying a premium to try to avoid it, but it looks like I'll have to buy to accomplish that.

Initially was OK but things have consistently gotten worse over the past year. Dead body pulled from pond behind building C & D last fall. Someone was shot about a month ago, whole parking lot was police taped off all night long, detectives all over the place. Homeless people sleep in the park during the day and hang around the benches, they don't ever ask for money or anything but are a representation of the area. Manager Megan is extremely difficult to deal with and pushes her job back on residents to do for her. She has excuses for everything, never apologies or takes responsibility for anything being wrong, it's always someone else's fault. Stairwells haven't been cleaned since I've lived here, dog hair all over them, exit door leaks water so mold and moisture all over the place. People park wherever they want, including the reserved spots they aren't supposed to park in because the manager won't do anything to enforce that. There are 16 reserved carport spots and the city requires some be left open as "living spots" for the business units at the bottom of building A. People park in those open spots all the time, yet the other people have to pay $100/month and management just lets it happen. For the first 6-8 months, half the people did not pick up their dog waste and the solution by management was to hire someone to clean it up rather than do something like DNA testing or setting up a camera to catch offenders. Problem was, the spot was cleaned up in the morning and so the rest of the day night, dog waste was all over the place. I had to clean my shoes weekly from accidentally stepping in it. Management said it's our job as residents to catch these people and video tape and turn them in, same with parking, although the people park in the reserved spots all day long while management is here. I would not recommend living here but unfortunately, there aren't many options around downtown Clearwater.

I absolutely LOVE Living here. I moved in 2 months ago, and I have enjoyed every minute of it. We'll start with staff: the leasing staff is phenomenal. Megan and her team are professional, friendly, knew me by name almost immediately and are always willing to bend over backwards to help in anyway they can. On move-in day, I realized that the apartment I picked was not going to work as it was a handicapped unit, and I did not realize that- the staff helped me change it and I didn't have to change my move-in day, I just switched to a different unit, super easy and they were totally understanding. This was my oversight, not theirs, but they were more then willing to help me and went out of their way to get me into my perfect place. Moving on, we'll talk amenities. Awesome pool area, huge gym and fabulous resident lounge. I use the gym every day and everything is always spotless and clean (not easy to do). Residents: literally, the nicest people I have ever lived with. Everyone I have met have been friendly and easy to talk to. I couldn't believe it, on move-in day, my neighbors came and welcomed me to the community. It feels like HOME here. Maintenance: My bathroom door did not close all the way, and one of my cabinet fronts came loose, they were here the next day and fixed everything. Bugs: I have read the reviews, and yes, we live in Florida, we get bugs. If you report it to the leasing office, Massey bug control comes to your door within 48 hours to get rid of them. Palmetto bugs (not roaches) are normal, so are ants… but the staff handles these issues quickly and efficiently. I did not have an issue with bugs, but my neighbor did complain of ants, and they are completely gone once she reported it to the office. Lastly, we'll talk about my apartment: the kitchen is gorgeous, and the layout is super spacious. I have the one bedroom "socialite", and though only 750 square feet, it feels much larger. I opted to live on the top floor as I don’t want to deal with neighbors above me. I don’t care what apartment community you live in, if you have a neighbor above you, you will hear them. That said, I cannot hear my next door neighbors, like, at all. I love the floors, they are super easy to clean, and I also love all the upgraded features! I absolutely LOVE my apartment, the community and the staff here. I give it an 11 out of 10.
There was an attempted murder here in July 2018. The building construction is terrible; warped walls and floors, thin walls. Residents to not clean up after their dog in public area and permit them to urinate in the hall or just outside the door. Smells really bad. This is the loudest apartment I ever lived in. I can hear everything my neighbor does. I get woken up constantly by loud stomping and thuds. The slamming of apt doors, yelling in the hallways and stomping on the stairs is also discomforting. The noises are so loud, the fixtures in my apt will rattle, and sometimes the door rattles too. There is no sense of community and it is not luxurious by any means.

We're sorry to hear about your negative experience. Appreciate the opportunity to improve!
Almost a month ago, there was a drug related shooting here outside the main door of building C. At that time the security gates were wide open, the building security codes had not been changed in over year and there are no security cameras here whatsoever. Since that night, the security gates have remained wide open, the building codes have not been changed, and there have been no installation of security cameras. Management wants to sweep this under the rug because it’s bad for business and instead implement a lame valet trash program inside each enclosed building where the hallways are only 6’ wide with no ventilation. The lawns have not been mowed in over a month and there are weeds outside over a foot tall. Management does not seem to care about the safety of their tenants. Do yourself a big favor and do not move here. You will regret it.

Unfortunately crime does not have an address. We are aware of your concerns and can assure you things have improved in every way!
I see a cockroach in my apartment almost every day and no matter how many I kill they keep coming back. I’ve had them spray for cockroaches every week and it does not help the problem at all. Been going on for 4 months now. I’m accidentally stepping on these cockroaches in the middle of the night, they are joining me in the shower, they are everywhere!!! So gross, unsanitary living and they won’t let me out of my lease. Do yourself a favor don’t move here or else you’ll be stuck with seeing cockroaches everyday in your home. This is only one of the many issues with this place. Victor the maintence guy is awesome though other than that this place is the worst place I’ve ever lived. I wish I could sumbit all the pictures of the cockroaches I’ve taken.
